TV STORY-Ep. 48: Farewell, Dear People
Personality
Desnaraku VIII is a merciless emperor who has shown no mercy in commanding his forces to mercilessly slaughter every last human in his quest to conquer the surface. Motivated by the dishonor and suffering endured by his people, who were exiled underground for a crime of conquering Chikyu that he claims they had no knowledge of, Desnaraku has embraced an extremist ideology of nihilism. His ultimate goal is the extermination of the human race, even if it means sacrificing his own kingdom and the very planet itself. He perceives each soldier sacrificed as a necessary price to pay, as long as a greater number of humans are killed in the process. Therefore, he encourages his army to fearlessly embrace death rather than dread it. Desnaraku's hatred for humans extends even to those who are of mixed Bug Naraku and human heritage, such as Jeramie Brasieri, whom Desnaraku VIII derogatorily refers to as a "lower lifeform."
Underneath his villainous persona, Desnaraku is shown to be a kind individual deep down who is initially against the idea of consuming Shugod Souls, proven by keeping Tarantula Abyss as a sort of pet and refusing to eat its soul, chasing it away instead. Desnaraku also displays a fondness for bright things, as the place he resides had only fire as light source. Desnaraku is also shown to have a poetic side to him, sharing a poem with Jeramie during his final moments.
