Mr. Shining Knife (Mr.シャイニングナイフ, Misutā Shainingu Naifu) & Mrs. Sweet Cake (Mrs.スイートケーク, Misesu Suīto Kēku) are the general staff captains of the No One World Bridan in No.1 Sentai Gozyuger.

History

Background

A couple whose love went too far, resulting in them being fused together. When the love between the two reaches its peak, they become gigantic.

Debut

Shining Knife and Sweet Cake first appeared in the Ring Case Castle, where they judge the other generals' method while discussing their deployment of Treasure Hunt No.1 on Earth, wondering if it would demonstrate sufficient power to be chosen by the Queen of Buraidan. After witnessing the failure of Treasure Hunt No.1 and GozyuWolf's victory in the Treasure Hunt Battle, they simply take a bow to their queen before departing. TV STORY-Ep. 2: Catch the Treasure! It's My Prey

Shining Knife and Sweet Cake would bear witness to Bouquet's sadness and frustration over her Rikuo photo being damaged in an earlier battle with TegaSword Blue. Sweet Cake would find the display funny, as Shining Knife and Sweet Cake explain they have a plan to gather the TegaSword Rings. Star Five and Mitsuta Five introduce themselves to Sweet Cake, explaining that they are the Fire-Blizzard Siblings. TV STORY-Ep. 4: Party Time ☆ Dreaming Old Man

Shining Knife and Sweet Cake notify the Ring Warriors via postcard that they've recruited Tokonatsu Atami. An infuriated Fire Candle opposes the decision. Shining Knife trusts Tokonatsu's abilities, while Sweet Cake warns they'll handle any issues if necessary. When Fire Candle learns their plan, he asks to join; Shining Knife agrees if his help secures the Sentai Rings — even though Sweet Cake objects.

After Tokonatsu's betrayal, Sweet Cake is distraught. To cheer her up, they trigger a Love Big Wave that makes them giant, with Sweet Cake vowing revenge. They confront TegaSword Black: Shining Knife counters the Horn Drill with his knife but gets pierced, and Sweet Cake summons the Cake Coliseum to trap the mecha. However, TegaSword Black's Charge Mode outmaneuvers them, and they are defeated by the TegaSword: Fabulous Drill. After regenerating, they blast TegaSword Black with a devastating tornado, only for it to be countered by Daizyuzin. TV STORY-Ep. 6: The Final Battle! The Great Adventure of Tokonatsu Castle

Personality

Mr. Shining Knife presents himself as a pragmatic, yet lenient individual. On the other side, Mrs. Sweet Cake present herself as an emotional individual. This was proven on their interaction with their allies, with Mr. Shining Knife allowing Fire Candle with his own freedom in his method of invasion, as long as he could get a Sentai Ring in return. While Mrs. Sweet Cake often disagrees with Fire Candle's barbaric method, and gave lenience to other members & potential allies such as Bouquet & Tokonatsu. Due to this side, Mrs. Sweet Cake is often heartbroken upon her plan failing, as shown when Tokonatsu had a change of heart during his quest.

Nevertheless, both Mr. Shining Knife and Mrs. Sweet Cake genuinely love each other and are able to perfectly cooperate on more serious battles.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

• Love Big Wave (ラブビッグウェーブ, Rabu Biggu Uēbu): When the love between the two reaches its peak, Mr. Shining Knife & Mrs. Sweet Cake can become gigantic. As their love grows bigger, they can grow so gigantic that they can even surpass TegaSword in size.
• Cake Coliseum (ケーキコロシアム, Kēki Koroshiamu): Mrs. Sweet Cake can summon a decorated coliseum made of cake from the ground to encase an opponent. If the couple is defeated, the coliseum will melt.
  • Knife Barrage: Mr. Shining Knife can unleash an onslaught of raining knives from the coliseum's walls on an opponent.
• Regeneration: Mr. Shining Knife & Mrs. Sweet Cake can rapidly heal and regenerate from any physical damage and get restored via whipped cream.
• Dark Typhoon: Mr. Shining Knife & Mrs. Sweet Cake can release a whirlwind of darkness and lightning from the mouth on their chest.

Portrayal

• Mr. Shining Knife is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita (杉田 智和, Sugita Tomokazu), who previously voiced Kivat-bat the 3rd in Kamen Rider Kiva, the eponymous character in Ultraman Ginga, Kamen Rider Ginga in Kamen Rider Zi-O and the voice of King Oradin, the Kiramager's Equipment, as well as the narration in Mashin Sentai Kiramager.
• Mrs. Sweet Cake is voiced by Reina Ueda (上田 麗奈, Ueda Rena), who previously voiced Mayu Nekoyashiki/Cure Lillian in Wonderful Pretty Cure!.
• Their main and physical suit actor is Yasuhiko Imai (今井 靖彦, Imai Yasuhiko). In episode 8, their suit actor is Yasuhiro Takeuchi.

Design

Mr. Shining Knife and Mrs. Sweet Cake are designed by character designer K-SuKe. Aside from the apparent wedding cake design, K-Suke also incorporated gothic elements akin to the decorations of cutleries, mandarin duck face paints and the red gems around their bodies being analogues to fruit decorations on cakes.
