Plot[]
On Safehaven, inside the Vault, Kiya has freed Dayne and tries to recruit him to her cause after returning his plasma weapons to him and apologizing for capturing him, but threatens to put him back in containment if he tries to attack her. Dayne is not interested in fighting for her unless there is something in it for him, she thinks that his freedom is enough. Dayne loses interest and thinks maybe she needs Lord Zedd if she’s looking for allies. Kiya refuses to let Zedd out, knowing he is too dangerous and wants order, not chaos and some of the other prisoners are too volatile to be allowed out. She is not asking Dayne to kill anyone, she wants him to find a one million year old mystery, the Blue Emissary spoke to her about this planet being the original home of the Morphin Masters and they chose it because it was safe and isolated from outsiders. Kiya doesn’t buy that story, she thinks that they were protecting and hiding something. The Masters ascended to the Grid from this world and she has found clues within ancient ruins but with no answers as to how, she is asking Dayne to use his keen senses, sharp mind and the thrill of a hunt to discover the secrets to the Power Rangers. Dayne agrees if the treasure that they find helps him get a chance at revenge against them.
Back on Earth, Jason had been rushed to the Command Center’s Medical Infirmary and Zordon updates everyone that the danger has passed and his vitals are stabilized, but they will not know the full extent of his injuries for another few hours.
Rocky is confused about the situation, as the three secret Rangers were supposed to be in Switzerland at a peace conference. Kimberly speaks in a sarcastic and venomous tone about how Trini and the others just made up an elaborate story and formed a secret Ranger Team without telling them and then just left them to fend for themselves. Trini understands that her best friend and everyone else is angry and tries to explain but Billy interrupts her and is heartbroken that his friend would lie and just seemingly abandon them. Zack says that they did not lie, they had to comply to secrecy and were not allowed to talk to anyone about their roles as Omega Rangers because of “time-space rules and stuff”.
Tommy is the most furious of all the group, asking why they chose to break their secrets now, is it because of Jason being hurt or is there something else, but Trini stops him and says that they need to speak to Zordon alone. Adam protests, asking if they don’t trust them while Aisha wonders where their Blue Ranger is. Alpha 5 breaks the increasing tension in the room by alerting everyone that Goldar has created monsters and one has people trapped inside of it. Zordon insists that the Rangers deal with this more pressing matter, but Kimberly argues with Zordon that Zack, Trini and Jason do NOT get to just teleport in the Command Center and before she continues her tangent, Tommy calms her down and says that he understands how she feels but they need to go. As she walks past Trini, she leers at her, still furious that her best friend lied to her. Trini is upset and Zack offers to come help, but she stops him as the Mighty Morphin team suits up for battle and teleports to Goldar’s location.
Upon arrival, Goldar orders his Beastbus and Murdercycles to attack the Rangers. Billy says that they need to be defensive because of the trapped civilians, which annoys Kimberly as that makes it harder for them. The students plead for the Rangers to help with Aisha trying to calm them down by saying they are trying as she, Billy and Rocky take on Beastbus while Adam and Kimberly face off against the Murdercycles, Adam comments that his mother always said motorcycles were dangerous but Kimberly says this is probably not what his mom meant and that she still is enthusiastic about them.
Meanwhile, Tommy faces off against Goldar, who is thrilled that Dayne did not kill the White Ranger so he can have the honor of doing it himself. Tommy ends up getting knocked down by Goldar, who is stronger thanks in part to the Z Staff increasing his strength as he smacks Tommy with it and then slams him into the ground.
Back at the Command Center, Zack and Trini try their best to explain to Zordon what their situation is without endangering the timeline, which proves frustratingly difficult as they explain that Kiya went rogue and she killed the Blue Emissary. Zordon asks if she has a direct connection to the Morphin Grid, to which Trini says yes but they cannot explain why or how due to their vow of secrecy. Trini is upset and apologizes as she really wants to tell Zordon everything but she is scared that doing so will cause some kind of space-time paradox if she hasn’t already with what she has told him and she could be breaking her vow.
Zordon reassures her that what she has done is not enough to break his faith in her and he understands all too well the terrible burdens of responsibility that come with having knowledge, insisting that she tells him only what he needs to know so that he can help her. Trini calms down and says that Kiya has only one objective: no more Rangers. Zordon says in that case they need to find a way to stop her. Trini cries a little, saying how she really missed her mentor and Zack agrees. XI calls in to report that sensors are reading a Level 7 energy spike, one he is certain to the readings of as he double checked the scans. Zack introduces their handler to Zordon, who is honored to meet the fabled hero of Eltar and apologizes for his current state as he is printing out a new body at the moment. Trini asks where the source of the spike is with XI pinpointing its location to somewhere in the Telvax Nebula and Eternity Point’s sensors are far more powerful than those of the Spectrum, if he located the spike then so did Kiya. The signal is too far away to make out what it is, but if it is an Empowered then they all need to hurry and get to them before she does.
Back at the fight with Goldar’s motorized menaces, Adam wishes that they were fighting Putties as he and Kimberly charge at the Murdercycles. Kimberly on the other hand prefers these opponents because their helmets remind her of “certain lying Rangers” and it makes her want to hit them harder.
Aisha, Rocky and Billy are struggling to fight Beastbus as he has hostages inside his body, but Billy comes up with a plan to rescue the trapped passengers, tearing open the emergency escape hatch on the roof while Rocky and Aisha distract it with their Power Blasters.
Tommy continues his battle with Goldar, who remarks that he is faster than he remembers, with Tommy saying he has also become a little smarter and asking Saba to go to full power as he leaps into a downward slash. A massive bust of energy comes out of the sword and the Z Staff breaks apart for the second time. Goldar laments why he seems to exist only to suffer as the monsters with no magic to empower them all explode. The Rangers order Goldar to surrender, but he flies away in retreat and the team calls it a day.
In the Command Center’s Infirmary, Kimberly is at Jason’s bedside and Trini informs her that she has to leave with Zack for a mission. Kimberly halfheartedly wishes her luck since someone has to stay behind and protect Earth, still bitter over Trini lying to her. Trini understands her feelings but tries to ask her to take care of Jason while they are gone. The Stone Canyon trio offer to assist Trini on her mission, excited about the idea of going into space and to actually be useful by helping someone who needs them. The group teleport onto the Spectrum, leaving Kimberly alone with Jason.
Back at Safehaven, Dayne uses his sharp senses in the catacombs to discover something interesting…
Outside, Arkon is rejecting Kiya’s proposal to join her mad crusade to eliminate the Rangers, he understands that they are protecting their loved ones from themselves by making a better life on Safehaven and scorns her wearing the Blue Emissary’s cloak like a trophy. Kiya counters this with propaganda, stating that the Empowered are blessed by the Grid, not cursed and they shall rise to defeat those who do not want them to have power, asking them stand by her or face oppression by those who will repeat the same mistakes again and again.
Back in the Infirmary, Jason stirs awake finally and while Billy, Alpha 5 and Kimberly are relieved..Tommy stands over him with a scornful look on his face. Jason is a bit dazed and wonders where Trini and Zack are, with Tommy saying his team apologized for not being there but they had to go on another secret mission. Jason is shocked, asking if he knows, with Tommy scowling that yes, they all know about the Omega Rangers.
On the Spectrum, Trini is surprised that she is still scared of heights and yet space has begun to bore her with the endless black and stars. Aisha decides to ask her predecessor if she and the other Stone Canyon Rangers are just temporary replacements, that they were selected just because they had similar traits and then their powers would be taken away when the three Omegas were done with their assigned missions. Trini says that is not true, if Aisha was chosen, then she is worthy of being a Ranger. Aisha doesn’t consider that an answer and Trini promises that they are not temporary replacements. Aisha hopes she is right but because of all the lying Trini did to Zordon and to her friends and the fact she barely knows her, Aisha asks: how can she trust anything Trini says?
This bothers Trini, but she can’t dwell on it or respond because the ship drops out of warp as they approach the Telvax Nebula. XI does a scan through the asteroids in the area to find the Level 7 signature, Adam sees someone on an asteroid and XI recognizes the person, realizing that they went right into a trap. Cavotas emerges and apologizes for what he is about to do, unleashing a massive ribbon of Grid energy which tears the Spectrum apart!
