Icon-mightymorphinThis article is about a comic book in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Issue 1 is the second issue of Boom! Studios ongoing comic book series. It features the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (2016 comic team). It was released on March 2, 2016.

Synopsis

When Repulsa creates an evil Green Power Ranger by brainwashing recent transfer student Tommy, the team is able to free him from her grasp and get him on their side. But with remnants of Repulsa's control still stirring in the back of Tommy's mind, he must confront the fact he may be more of a danger to his new team than a help. [1]

Plot

Main story

Bulk & Skull are filming the latest episode of their online show Ranger Station. They do a recap with flashbacks to the day of Rita's escape. Followed by another even quicker recap of Rita's near victory over the Power Rangers followed by the Green Rangers joining the Power Rangers. They then proceed into a montage of asking people their opinion on the Green Ranger turning good.

After question Tommy about the Green Ranger Kimberly asks Tommy out on a coffee date after they finish a training session with Zordon.

Zack has fallen asleep in Mr. Earls' class which earns him detention. Jason ties to come to his rescue but only succeeded in earning himself detention as well.

At lunch the Zack, Billy, Jason, Trini, & Kimberly are sitting together. Jason confronts Zack about his lack of sleep, Zack lies and says he was reading. Billy & Trini mention they will be working on the Dragonzord after school. Tommy walks in with a hallucination of Rita mocking him about the previous battle that destroyed a bridge. Just as he sits down with his friends they have to leave for their next class leaving him alone.

At the Moon Palace Rita informs her team that the Dragonzord destroying Bullzer and the bridge provided quite the initial charge of chaos energy for the crystal that implanted in Bullzer but they need more to fully charge it.

In a pocket dimension Tommy is fighting Putty Patrollers on the ground while Kimberly pilots the Pterodactyl Dinozord providing cover fire. Tommy has civilians to rescue but they have sustained injuries. His plan leads them into an ambush by Putties. The hallucination of Rita taunts him about how he always fails. Tommy and civilians are overrun by dozens of Putties.

Tommy is being extra critical of himself while Kimberly tries to alleviate his guilt by explaining it was only a practice and it was an impossible situation. Which Zordon explains that if Tommy had chosen differently he and the civilians would have run into the monster which was several stories tall. He set up this no win situation to gauge how one deals with certain defeat, because as a Ranger his actions are the difference between life and death. In that impossible situation Tommy was successful because no matter how insurmountable the odds his drive to protect those around him never wavered. Tommy ran the impossible situation a second time solo instead of going on his coffee date with Kimberly.

Back at home Tommy was pondering the question Bulk asked him earlier in the day just as he determined he had no answer for the question he was attacked by Scorpina.

The Ongoing Adventures of Bulk & Skull

Bulk and Skull are campaigning to get free stuff from Ernie like the color coordinated dweebs when the news talks about a battle between Miming Golems and the Power Rangers. Bulk and Skull run off to become heroes to impress Trini and Kimberly. They see a person in a trench coat reading the newspaper. They assumed he had been shopping downtown and wanted directions. They end up running into a street lamp instead. The street lamp hits the man and reveals it is actually a Putty.
