Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #120 is the eleventh issue of Darkest Hour, a 12-month Boom! Studios Power Rangers event that celebrates the 30th anniversary of Power Rangers.
Synopsis[]
In this close look at the Solar Rangers featuring acclaimed artist Valeria Favoccia (Stranger Things: Afterschool Adventures), the spreading infection of the Morphin Grid threatens their world in the distant reaches of space.
In a call that feels nearly impossible to make, their leader, the Purple Solar Ranger, must take drastic steps to keep them safe.
However, some unexpected visitors will complicate things...[1]
Plot[]
In the Void, somewhere in what appears to be a bunker, a little cat girl alien named Shara is found by her adopted mother Remi, who was trying to sneak off to look for her other mother Ari. Remi reassures her daughter that Ari will come back when she’s ready and she sits down with the other alien children. A loud boom rattles the area and Remi calms the nerves of the kids by telling them the story of the Power Rangers and how they defeated the Praetor. She ends the story by saying that no matter how bleak things get, the Power Rangers always win. Her Solar Ranger teammate Maxie tells Remi that they need to move, with Remi telling the kids that they need to stay close to her and Maxie and that they are going on an adventure of their own.
Remi asks Maxie as they are walking if he confessed his love to Salum, the Red Solar Ranger, as she has a feeling that he has the same feelings for him, to which Maxie says he did not as it is not the appropriate time. Remi says that they are in a war, so there is no more of an appropriate time for that. As they exit, they see Ari fighting off Thralls with Salum and Tigan, the Blue Solar Ranger. She nearly takes Salum’s head off with her Void Chakram when throwing it to kill a Thrall, who complains for her to watch it and Ari just retorts that he needs to learn to duck then. Salum says that Maxie and Remi have the orphans and they need to clear a path for them to get to safety, calling Tigan to help cover them. Tigan hacks up more Thralls with her weapon and says that this is kind of fun, while Ari does appreciate Tigan trying to keep everyone’s spirits up, they need to focus on keeping the path clear as they have precious lives to protect.
Maxie defends the kids as the Yellow Solar Ranger while Remi tries to keep the children moving and encourages them to be brave and try to go just a little farther with a race to reach a ship. Shara is too scared to move but her mother says that it is okay to be scared
