Mighty Morphin #5 is the fifth issue of the ongoing Boom! Studios comic book series, Mighty Morphin. This issue continues the Unlimited Power story event and is a continuation of Power Rangers #4 and the previous Mighty Morphin #4. This issue features the origin of the new Green Ranger.
Synopsis
The New Green Ranger's identity has been revealed. Now, for the first time ever, discover their top secret origin... and what comes next.[1]
Plot
The story starts with Matthew Cook observing a fight between the Mega Terrorzord, the Mega Tigerzord and Red Dragon Thunderzord. When falling debris was about to harm an innocent bystander. Matt jumped in to save but was knocked out in the process. He was recovered by Grace Sterling before offering him a chance to become her Green Ranger. After he morphed he fought Lord Zedd and destroyed the crystal that was powering the Mega Terrorzord. He then went back to Grace's headquarters reflecting on his first mission and his imprisonment, he then continued training and dropped out of the football team, much to his parent's disappointment.
After enough training, he received the Dragon Dagger and was able to summon the Dragonzord. After a chat with Kimberly, and a failed attempt to combine the Dragonzord with the White Tigerzord. Matt tried to save innocents from the Chaos Putties before he was teleported back to Grace's headquarters. Who explained to him that Angel Grove is trapped around a barrier made by Lord Zedd. Matt then convinced Grace to broadcast his identity to give the citizens hope.
