Meguru Osai (往歳 巡 Ōsai Meguru) is a university professor who had been selected to be part of the Universe Warriors as TyrannoRanger (ティラノレンジャー Tiranorenjā).
History[]
Osai first appears as TyrannoRanger where he rides Daizyuzin to help TegaSword Black defending the attack from Mr Shining Knife and Ms Sweet Cake. He later introduced himself towards the Gozyugers as a professor who investigates the history of Super Sentai, including the events of the Universe War.
Osai later visits TegaSword Village, formally introducing himself again to Hoeru, Ryugi and Kinjiro, while explaining the origins of Super Sentai and TegaSword, while he mentions the uniqueness of the Gold TegaSword users, who are now the only active sentai as Gozyugers while all other Ring Warriors are each fighting as a solitary Red Ranger. He then encourages Hoeru and others to fight as a united team by having them cook omurice together. Through the cooperation, the three of them successfully make omurice which satisfies Osai. After Rikuo and Sumino prepare to fight Tokimeki No.1, Osai arrives to the scene with the others, where the Gozyugers successfully make the team roll call for the first time. Osai then also transforms into TyrannoRanger and gives the Abaranger and Kyoryuger Rings to Ryugi and Kinjiro respectively. The Gozyugers cooperate with TyrannoRanger to fight Aryee where TyrannoRanger summons Daizyuzin using his Regain Power and helps TegaSword Red to defeat the MC Aryee, Mike Goseick.

Meguru losing his TegaSword
After the fight, when Osai is going praise more about the cooperation of Gozyugers, he is suddenly attacked by Garyudo, falling unconscious and detransforming. His Silver TegaSword disappears and his TyrannoRanger Ring falls into the possession of Garyudo, who then takes his unconscious body and returns to No One World.
Osai was then mind controlled by the Buraidan, and was summoned by Bouquet, piloting the black Daizyuzin to attack the Gozyugers. However, the Gozyugers successfully countered with the help of TegaSword, who borrowed Hoeru's Gold TegaSword to channel the power of the Ninninger Ring and create five clones of himself. With the power of five TegaSwords, black Daizyuzin is defeated and Osai is freed from mind control. Osai thanks the Gozyugers for their help, and despite his Ring Contract already being nullified, he expresses that his wish has already been fulfilled and he will now cheer for the Gozyugers.
At some point of time, Osai would create and present ring containers for the Gozyugers to store the Sentai Rings, providing it to them via mail-in delivery.[1] TV STORY-Ep. 11: Unleash the Wild! The Beastmaster Plays His Flute
Personality[]
Despite being a Universe Warrior, Osai seemed to prioritize the importance of Super Sentai over his own wish due to his job as a Super Sentai Researcher. He thought that the Universe Warriors should fight as a team like the Gozyugers and their predecessors rather than fighting individually as they are now. Osai was even willing to give out the Sentai Rings he obtained from others after he saw how the Gozyugers are able to fight in sync, showing his fondness towards Super Sentai.

Etymology[]
- Meguru Osai's name can loosely translate to 'Circle around Passed Age,' which may reference Zyuranger's members, the ancient human tribe who reawaken in the current age.
Notes[]
- According to Toei's official production blog:[2]
- Meguru's attire is modeled after the titular character of the Indiana Jones franchise, per the suggestion of Akiko Inoue.
- His thick Kansai accent is a result of his actor, Kandai Ueda, hailing from the Kyoto Prefecture.
- Meguru marks the first instance of a character in-suit to pilot a mecha in the series, contrasting the Gozyugers in TegaSword Robo and the Bridan members in their Dress Guards. Despite the similarity in cockpit designs, the production blog made it clear that it was intentional to make a distinction for TyrannoRanger as a Sentai member who actually pilots a Sentai Mecha instead of the Gozyugers who actually bonded with TegaSword Robo physically and mentally.
- Meguru's transformation pose is a reference to the Zyurangers' transformation pose.
