|This article is about a/an video game in Denji Sentai Megaranger.|
MEGARANGER is a video game associated with the world of Denji Sentai Megaranger. A fighting game with 3D holographic characters, it involves selecting one of several playable characters, including all of the actual Megarangers, and fighting against an opponent until one is the victor. The players have the potential of customizing their characters, such as with special weapons, for combat. It costs 100 yen to play.
The Megaranger video game is in actuality a test utilized by the scientists of the International Network of Excel-Science and Technology (I.N.E.T.) to find the best people capable of utilizing their technology to combat against the forces of Neziregia when they invaded from their dimension. It was developed by Professor Eikichi Kubota, who designed the Megaranger suits and powers and decides to use the video game as his means of Ranger recruitment. Only one potential recruit had been found by the time of Neziregia's arrival: genius gamer Kenta Date; thus the squad was forced to use four other teenagers from his Moroboshi High School who had snuck in to investigate the Digital Center NASADA at the time. The Megaranger suits were actually virtually stored in the video game and merged with the Megaranger to become their actual suits when they first activated the Degitaizer for the first time.
The Megaranger video game remained popular and continued to be updated throughout the battle with Neziregia, even including the Jaden Sentai Neziranger after an update.
- The concept of a squadron to save the world being created from the best and brightest who mastered a video game such as Megaranger is inspired by the video game from the 1984 film The Last Starfighter.
