Plot[]
It has been six months since the Rangers and the Turtles defeated the combined forces of Rita Repulsa and the Shredder. In that time Shredder has vanished, and Casey Jones fights Karai on the rooftops of New York demanding information about his whereabouts; while everyone else is enjoying the break, Casey believes something terrible is brewing. As Casey gets the upper hand over Karai, a portal appears behind him and an unseen figure knocks Casey to the ground with an energy blast. As they look upon the interloper, Karai is smug and Casey is horrified.
One week later the Rangers are hanging out at the Juice Bar with the Turtles, who are disguised as humans using hologram technology developed by Billy, but Donatello's begins to malfunction and expose his mutant hands. Sitting at a table, Kimberly, Trini, and April, discuss how quiet things have been lately. Sensors are in place to monitor Rita's palace on the moon and Zordon and Alpha 5 are keeping an eye on the morphing grid, but April cannot help but be worried. Bulk and Skull approach the three and claim to be personal friends of the Power Rangers, and offer to set up an exclusive interview with them for Channel Six; the amused girls invite him to elaborate on their supposed closeness with the Rangers.
At the command center, Billy and Donatello are examining the holographic device that disguised them. Donatello is concerned Ernie may have noticed his hands, but Billy reassures him that if Ernie hasn't caught on to them being Rangers, he's unlikely to presume Donnie is a giant mutated turtle. The two discuss new devices they've been developing, including modifications to the Dragonzord and something called "Shadow Morphers", which Donatello is eager to try again. Meanwhile, Jason and Leo are sparring in a holographic training room. The two share anecdotes about combat techniques they've learned from their teammates, and the responsibilities of being the leaders of their respective teams, and the difficulties of working with more brusque members like Tommy and Raph.
On a rooftop, Tommy and Raph have met up with Tyler, who has informed them about Casey's disappearance. They discuss that Casey had taken command of the ex-Foot that left with Tyler before, and he had ordered them to step up patrols out of concern lately. Given Casey often works alone they didn't think much of his vanishing at the time, but now Tyler has learned that several members of the Turtles' rogues gallery have also gone missing, including Karai, Leatherhead, and Slash. The two look for leads in the sewers, and after a brief fight with a knight in junk armor, he is called off by his master, the Rat King. The Rat King agrees to give them peaceful council and explains his guardians believed they were here to abduct him as they were the others, as the apparent perpetrator is a Power Ranger.
At Rikers Island, Baxter Stockman is madly drawing equations on a wall and babbling to his disinterested cell-mate, when the wall is destroyed. Stockman is freed by Goldar and Rocksteady, who tell him Krang requires his services, and the two brutalize prison guards as they take him away. However, they are soon confronted by the Rangers and the Turtles and the two villains attack, utilizing new weaponry that surprises the two teams. Stockman hides and uses a device to try and contact Dimension X, but is found by Donatello and Trini and flees in terror. As Raph is tossed aside by Rocksteady, Casey appears and helps him to his feet, and Raph decks him and embraces him for disappearing and being safe. Raph asks Casey to take care of Stockman while they handle Rocksteady. Stockman is cornered by Donatello and Trini when Casey arrives and offers to watch him while they join the battle, but the two refuse.
Suddenly, Casey attacks Donatello and knocks him to the ground. As Trini demands an explanation, Casey crosses his arms over his chest in an "X" and morphs into a Ranger, wearing a pink and black uniform emblazoned with "X" across his torso and belt. The morphed Casey ambushes Michelangelo and Kimberly, allowing the villains to escape through a portal with Stockman. Leo tries to reason with Casey but he rebuffs him, and teleports away warning them that he'll seem them again soon.

Covers[]
Errors[]
- To be added
Notes[]
- The Mike del Mundo variant cover has the Lair of the Turtles with pizza box covers on the dance floor including 30 Seconds pizza, Divine Pizza and Wiseman Pizza with a phone number that has LATE at the end. These are references to the Dominos delivery scene in the 1990 live action TMNT movie. Billy is in a particular pose while holding the microphone, possibly alluding to Vanilla Ice’s Ninja Rap from the sequel film Secret of the Ooze.
- The Bon Bernardo variant cover is a reference to the very first issue cover of the TMNT comic, itself being a parody of the covers of Frank Miller’s Ronin comic series.
- In Billy’s lab, the Triceratops power armor from the Go Go Power Rangers Alpha 1 story arc is seen in storage.
