- "How is it I've never noticed your beauty before?"
- ―Lord Zedd under the effects of Rita Repulsa's potion.[src]
Lord Zedd was an evil emperor from space who threatened the Earth and the Power Rangers in the alternate universe series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return.
He married Rita Repulsa and they launched an attack in Serpentera on the Command Center, killing Zordon and Alpha 5 in the process. He was the father of Selena Repulsa.
History[]
Lord Zedd's history in The Return closely follows the TV series. In 1994, Rita Repulsa used a love potion to compel Zedd to obey her and they joined forces.
In the year 2000, Zedd and Rita tied the knot with sinister plans for the future. After a year of planning, they launched an attack in Serpentera on the Command Center and completely destroyed it, killing Zordon and Alpha 5 in the process. Tommy suggested that they take the fight to Rita and Zedd on the Moon in retaliation for the death of their allies, intending on ending the two villains once and for all. During the Rangers assault on the Moon, Kimberly and Tommy infiltrated the Moon Palace with plans to set off the Benevolator, a device that the Rangers made filled with Morphin Grid Energy that would theoretically incapacitate the enemy of all evil by releasing a wave of purification. Rita discovered the Green and Pink Rangers in her bedchamber. She zapped Tommy with her wand, sending him flying into the Benevolator. She then relentlessly casted magic blasts, gloating in triumph. Just as she was about to kill Tommy, powering up her wand with a huge amount of energy, an arrow fired by Kimberly pierced her heart, killing her.
Lord Zedd relished in victory, only for the last thing he would ever hear being Squatt rushing in and giving him the tragic news that his wife was dead as the Benevolator detonated. COMIC STORY- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return Issue 2
The Benevolator killed everyone on the Moon except Rita because she used her magic to transfer her essence into the grid. Selena was able to bring her back with some help from a still alive Finster to the Rangers’ shock. Selena put Finster to work on his biggest project, the Morphin-Matic, an upgraded version of his Monster-Matic machine using Lord Zedd's Z Staff, the Rangers' Power Coins, and the last of his magic clay that she was going to use to bring her mother back.
Selena revealed that her mother saved her by teleporting her via magic. In actuality, when Tommy was about to hit the timer button on the Benevolator, a young Selena walked into the room looking at her mother’s body much to his shock. Finster called in for Putties but Tommy fought them off wanting to save her. When he accidentally hit the button, he gave the young Selena his communicator and teleported her off the Moon.
Now Selena was ready to bring her mother back as Finster activated the machine. Just then the machine went dead. Wondering why it didn't work, Kimberly revealed that Selena only had 5 Power Coins as there were 6 Rangers. Selena scoffed and said that Tommy's Power Coin was destroyed as she had the Putties search for it and never found it. Kimberly said that Tommy wasn't morphed when he activated the Benevolator to which Finster told Selena she was telling the truth. Just then, Finster's sensors went off revealing that the Dragon Power Coin was coming to them. Selena pulled Kimberly out of the forcefield demanding to know where it is as a female Green Ranger teleports in front of the Rangers: Olivia Hart, Kimberly's daughter.
