The legend overlays initally did not occur in Power Rangers Super Megaforce, instead, when Jayden Shiba (Red Samurai Ranger) and Casey Rhodes (Jungle Fury Red Ranger) appeared in the episodes Samurai Surprise and Spirit of the Tiger respectively, a brief flashback to their time as a Ranger appeared when they introduced themselves. However, when previous rangers returned in Legendary Battle, an overlay of their ranger helmets appeared over each of them.
Karone's legend overlay as Astronema only occurs in the Extended Edition of the finale.
