- "You are my prey. My dear little brother... (お前は僕の獲物だよ。 愛しい弟... Omae wa boku no emonoda yo. Itoshī otōto...)"
- ―Kuon's proclamation after reclaiming Hoeru[src]
Kuon (クオン ), born Hisamitsu Tono (遠野 久光 Tōno Hisamitsu), is the young president of the Kuon AI Konzern and Hoeru's long lost older brother. He transforms into Ring Hunter Garyudo (リングハンター・ガリュード Ringu Hantā Garyūdo), a general of the No One World Bridan, the ring hunter and the "trump card" of Queen TegaJune.
History[]
Background[]
As Hisamitsu Tono, he's shown to ace everything that he could master, making his little brother, Hoeru, to greatly look up to him. However, ten years ago, he would be spirited away with Hoeru to No One's Homeworld alongside with many other civilians. Hisamitsu ended up getting separated from Hoeru.
At an unknown point of time, Hisamitsu ended up getting affiliated with Buraidan, and become Ring Hunter Garyudo under Queen TegaJune, hunting down Universe Warriors such as Aka Ninger, Gosei Red and Spade Ace. As an adult, Hisamitsu also witnessed his parents disowning him after adopting two other sons. This resulted in him forsaking the name Hisamitsu and rename himself as Kuon. He also ended up forming Kuon AI Konzern.
Reuniting with Hoeru as Garyudo[]
Garyudo takes out TyrannoRanger from behind with TegaJune, eliminating him before the Gozyugers. TV STORY-Ep. 7: Get Excited! Come Together, Gozyugers!
Afterwards, he retrieves his Sentai Rings and acquires his body for unknown reasons. Returning to Ring Case Castle, he is greeted by Queen TegaJune as he updates her on his ring hunt. When he names GozyuWolf as his next target, a possessive Fire Candle challenges him, but Garyudo claims that latter has been outclassed by his rival.
At TegaSword Village, Kuon reunites with Hoeru after their separation in No One's Homeworld. He laments that their parents had forgotten them but reassures Hoeru that they still have each other. Kuon then takes Hoeru to a studio to film a commercial for Kuon AI Konzern—a venture dedicated to making wishes come true through AI contracts. Now with his company among the top 100 innovators, he praises his staff and later recalls childhood memories with Hoeru before using a fancy sushi platter to bribe his little brother into becoming his right-hand man. In a conference room, Kuon eliminates an employee for missing quotas and then escorts Hoeru to the battleground where the Gozyugers fight the Buraidan. There, he reveals the TegaJune and the Sentai Ring, admitting he shot Meguru Osai. Claiming that Hoeru sparked his transformation, he accuses his brother of emptiness and irreparable loss. Urging Hoeru to unleash his wild side, Kuon declares that they have evolved from prey to predators — and that he will now decide whom his brother targets. His manipulation turns a feral Hoeru against his teammates.
Satisfied with Hoeru’s actions, Kuon transforms into Garyudo. Soon, Rikuo confronts him, arguing that he freed Hoeru from his bonds and now seeks retribution. As Garyudo outmaneuvers the Gozyugers, he summons Gosei Red and Aka Ninger for support, converting them into the Skick Sword and Ninja Ichibantou to aid his assault. After an unsuccessful attempt to finish them with a June Blast, Kuon marks Hoeru as his prey after witnessing his departure from the Gozyugers. TV STORY-Ep. 8: Between Right and Wrong, the Ring Hunter
Kuon reveals to Fire Candle that GozyuWolf is his little brother and that, to prove his loyalty to Queen TegaJune, he must defeat him. He derides Fire Candle for his repeated defeats against GozyuWolf, calling him a loser.
Later at TegaSword Village, Kuon interrupts the Gozyugers' gathering. He insists on his duty to guide his pure-hearted little brother down the right path, by choosing his friends and demands the team stay away. When Rikuo stands up for Hoeru and refuses, Kuon dons the TegaJune Sentai Ring and sets out to eliminate them.
In an empty battlefield, Kuon transforms into Garyudo and summons his Sentai allies— DenziRed, Spade Ace, and GekiRed in battle. He duels GozyuLeon, converting DenziRed into a Denzi Punch to assist GekiRed in seizing the Boonboomger Ring and converts Spade Ace into a storm of spade cards to counter GozyuEagle, GozyuTyranno, and GozyuUnicorn. When Hoeru appears, Garyudo dispatches the Sentai Reds against his teammates and, after Hoeru defies his orders as GozyuWolf, challenges him directly in a No.1 Battle. During the fight, he insults Hoeru as a perpetual loser until Hoeru defeats him with the Wolf Decalibur Finish. Acknowledging his brother's effort, Garyudo retreats.

Kuon's ever-growing scar
Back in the No One World, Kuon maniacally laughs while revealing an X-shaped scar along his back, proclaiming that Hoeru cannot escape their inevitable confrontation until they destroy each other. TV STORY-Ep. 9: Unbreakable Wolf
Personality[]
Hoeru describes Kuon as a man who can do everything, anything, and achieving number one in everything he does, the best man he looks up into as he was a very kind person. However, Hoeru ended up shocked at how much Kuon has changed in personality while still retaining his capability for being able to do everything into a ruthless and manipulative person.
Beneath his competence, both as Garyudo and Kuon AI Konzern CEO, Kuon is showed to be both a narcissistic and megalomaniacal person. He’s shown to not tolerate Failure, and often mocked people who constantly failed as shown by him (supposedly) terminating a failed employee, and his constant conflict with Fire Candle due to the latter always losing to Hoeru. His megalomania is shown as he views simply Hoeru as his puppet (despite his twisted love towards him) and the summoned Universe Warriors as his servants. In the case of Hoeru, Kuon even openly admitted that he’s the only one worthy to shape Hoeru’s life, including in selecting his friends.
Like Hoeru, Kuon has a gimmick on giving a hand sign for marking his prey. However, unlike Hoeru's singular hand sign making a ring shape before "catching" it, Kuon makes a X sign with both of his index fingers. As Garyudo he simply crosses his finger with TegaJune instead.

Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
- Kuon is portrayed by Karuma (カルマ ), and by Sei Fujiwara (藤原 聖 Fujiwara Sei) as a teenager.
- As Garyudo, his suit actor is Kenya Saitou (齊藤 謙也 Saitō Ken'ya).
Design[]
Garyudo's design emulates the Gozyugers suits and Bio Hunter Silva.[2]
Etymology[]
- "Kuon" as a name is derived from reading the first two kanji of Kuon's birth name (遠野 久光 Tōno Hisamitsu) in the Go-on reading. Unlike the Gozyugers, where their names are needed to be read in Eastern naming order to see the motifs in their names, "Kuon" is found by reading the first two kanji in the Western naming order (久光 遠野
Hisa mitsuTō no). The kanji for Kuon translates into "eternity" (久遠 Kuon). - Garyudo's name is a corruption on the Japanese word for "hunter" (狩人 karyūdo), changing the first katakana "ka" to the voiced consonant "ga".
Notes[]
- Kuon's X theme contrasting with Hoeru's O theme ties into the romantic theme with the Buraidan, as "xoxo" is an English abbreviation meaning "hugs and kisses". An X mark is also shorthand for "incorrect" in direct contrast to O marks (a ring shape) representing something being "correct".
