Kiya Kyatyl is an alien adventurer from the planet Khoodjah who helped the Omega Rangers and ultimately became the third Omega Blue Ranger. She eventually goes insane and believes all Power Rangers to be the enemy.
Later, after being freed by Lord Drakkon, she became the Blue Drakkon Ranger, the Blue Ranger of the Drakkon Rangers.
History[]
Past[]
Kiya lived with her family on Khoodjah prior to the main story. Her little brother, Sello, once asked Kiya where the Sun was. She explained to Sello that the sun was sleeping. Sello then proceeded to try and wake it up by yelling at it, which Kiya considered "the cutest thing she's ever seen".
Kiya was sleeping on the night she got her powers. When she woke up, Kiya claimed she had tasted copper, and then a thousand spider-webs of electricity flew out of her. As these powers escalated, everything was reduced to ash--including Kiya's family. As for Kiya, she received a scar on her right arm, which she considers a blessing and a reminder. Necessary Evil[]
Kiya met Jason, Zack and Trini sometime after the events of Shattered Grid, ultimately becoming the Blue Ranger soon after. COMIC STORY- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Boom! Studios) Issue 41
She was confronted by Trini where they first bonded and accepted into the team. Trini destroyed her Morpher in battle. The Rangers then imprisoned her in a pot similar to the dumpster that Rita Repulsa was trapped in by Zordon to ensure that she would never be a threat again. However, Lord Drakkon freed her while everyone else was distracted by Mistress Vile trying to break into Promethea and a brainwashed Matthew Cook was attacking Earth as the Green Ranger. COMIC STORY- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Boom! Studios) Issue 109
Personality[]
Kiya starts out as a helpful and caring friend to her Omega Ranger teammates, especially to Trini, but the physical and mental scars of the events of The Shattering she hid led to her path of betrayal. During a mission to stop an Empowered from being used by Queen Adriyel on the Planet Breel for galactic conquest, Kiya accidentally linked with Jason’s mind and saw the horrors of the old timeline during the war with Lord Drakkon. This traumatized her but she kept her feelings a secret.
Upon aiding the Mighty Morphin Team against Lord Zedd and Dayne, she saw Tommy Oliver and it triggered a post-traumatic reaction, believing the White Ranger to be the second coming of Lord Drakkon. This caused her mind to break as she violently lunged at him and threatened to kill Tommy when her teammates restrained her.
She then became paranoid, believing that the Power Rangers were orchestrating a plot to destroy the universe again as they protected "Drakkon", despite the Blue Emissary telling her Lord Drakkon was an anomaly, and Tommy was given the White Light. Her paranoia finally evolved into a full-blown delusion. She believed that all Rangers in the universe must die and those that are Empowered are the Morphin Grid's true chosen champions to stop the return of Drakkon and bring "peace" to the universe.
Upon being freed by Lord Drakkon, she would make attempts to kill him but then reluctantly worked with him to save the World of the Coinless. Upon meeting Yale, she felt insulted that her former Ranger powers were “given to a cat”. She had regained a bit of her heroism despite her bitter feelings during Dark Specter’s attempt to poison the Morphin Grid, as she risked her life to destroy the Master Arch on Safehaven only to get captured afterwards.
Forms[]
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Water Manipulation: Being the Omega of Water, Kiya could augment her attacks with water to enhance their effectiveness.
Abilities[]
- Empowered Super Strength: During her time as the Blue Omega Ranger, Kiya was empowered by the Grid Energy infusion in her body. This gave her tremendous strength that could knock away opponents with incredible force and when she punched Jason into the ground during her betrayal of her former teammates, she created a crater when his body hit the ground and left him mortally wounded and on the brink of death if not for his friends getting him to the Command Center Infirmary. She lost this ability when the alliance of Rangers called upon Ari and Remi from the Void to use the Solarix to drain away the excess Grid energy within the Empowered army, reverting her to a normal Khoodjahn.

Notes[]
- Kiya was shown to be the physically strongest member of the Omega Rangers during her time as one.
- Her full name was revealed in "The Xi Records" variant covers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, inspired by X-Men trading cards. The name section stated "Kiya Kyatyl" but the body of the text immediately contradicts it by suggesting a different spelling - Kiya Kyati. However, Ryan Parrott has since clarified that 'Kyatyl' is the correct last name.[1]
