Kinya Samejima (鮫島 欣也 Samejima Kin'ya) is a EPDS naval officer who was selected to become VulShark (バルシャーク Baru Shāku), the Blue Ranger of the Sun Vulcan and the second-in-command to VulEagle.
History[]
Sun Vulcan[]
A naval officer who is also an oceanographer, Kinya spent most of his childhood in Africa most specifically in the Saharan region where his parents worked trying to discover an ancient Saharan civilization under the sands. Having lost his parents and younger brother during an altercation between warring tribal clans, Kinya's hatred for any form of violence motivated him to volunteer for the Sun Vulcan project. Kinya likes to ride motorcycles, which came in handy as it allowed Sun Vulcan to discover Machine Monger. 
TV STORY-Ep. 6: The House Dominated by Machines
When a child was attacked by Wrestler Monger, Kinya went out on his own to confront the monster. Wrestler Monger was able to defeat him, and Kinya was placed in critical condition. As he recovered, the Commander shared his tragic backstory (about the death of his parents and brother). This prompted VulEagle and VulPanther to confront Wrestler Monger themselves. Kinya eventually awoke, and told Misa Arashiyama that she looked as cute as ever. Misa helped Kinya work through his emotions, realizing that Kinya viewed Ryusuke and Asao as members of his family, and this prompted Kinya to join his teammates on the battlefield. However, while in the Sun Vulcan mech, Kinya briefly lost focus that prevented Sun Vulcan Robo from forming. With the help of his teammates, he was able to overcome them and Sun Vulcan was able to defeat Wrestler Monger. Following the battle, the team would go on a bike ride with some of the kids they saved, with the narrator remarking that Shark would risk his life to let children live in a peaceful world. He alongside the other Sun Vulcan and Misa is tasked to protect a fortune-telling ESPer named Kamiko Kitazawa from the ESPer-killing Satan Monger after they receive a mysterious letter. Years later, Kinya fought alongside not only his own team, but every single Sentai Ranger in existence, against the Empire of Zangyack when it attacked the Earth in the Great Legend War. After fighting against hundreds of Gomin and their Sugomin commanders, Akarenger noticed the fleet moving towards them. He gathered all the Rangers together and gave them the order to sacrifice their powers to wipe out the first invasion's armada. His powers were later used by Joe Gibken via the Ranger Keys. Kinya, alongside his team, among the majority of the Super Sentai heroes, was caught up in the "Super Hero Taisen" incident which eventually resulted in the Super Sentai teams and Kamen Riders joining forces to defeat both Dai-Zangyack and Dai-Shocker. VulShark appeared with his team among the first 38 Super Sentai whom collectively empowered Wild Tousai Shuriken King in its fight against the titanic Gillmarda, granting the Ninningers and Zyuohgers the power to perform the Zyuoh Ninnin Super Sentai Burst which destroyed Gillmarda with the combined power of all 40 Super Sentai. VulShark returns

Kinya was deeply affected by the loss of his family. Despite this, he persevered in continuing the family's legacy of scientific research.

- As VulShark, his suit actors were Takanori Shibahara (柴原 孝典 Shibahara Takanori), Kenji Ohba (大葉 健二 Ōba Kenji) and Hiroshi Watari (渡 洋史 Watari Hiroshi).
Design[]
- VulShark wears a blue cloth suit with a white stripe around the collar and a large "V" that appears in the middle of the chest. His gloves and boots are inverse in color: the colors are white while the stripe is blue, around the wrist in the gloves and creating a similar "V" formation along the ankle of the boots. A silver belt surrounds his mid-section with a buckle with the raised relief of an shark upon it; while a pin with the Sun Vulcan logo is pinned on his right side and a scarf flows around his neck. Designed by Katsushi Murakami (村上 克司 Murakami Katsushi), his helmet has a black visor that is jagged at the bottom going down to a gray mouthpiece, while the top and sides are surrounded in blue with a relief form of a shark head head, with the rest of the helmet completely blue in color.

- Kinya's surname can be translated into "Shark Island".

The VulShark Ranger Key (バルシャークレンジャーキー Buru Shāku Renjā Kī) is Kinya Samejima's personal Ranger Key and what became of his powers after he along with the rest of the 34 Super Sentai sacrificed their powers to end the Great Legend War.
This key along with the majority of the Ranger Keys were collected by the Red Pirates and later used by the Gokaigers. The VulShark Ranger Key was mainly used by Joe Gibken (Gokai Blue), who used it to fight as VulShark.

The Sun Vulcan Keys, along with all the Ranger Keys of the first 33 Super Sentai, were briefly taken by the Black Cross King and turned into Ranger puppets that were fought by the Gokaigers and the Goseigers.
