- "GoggleRed!"
- ―GoggleRed's roll call[src]
Kenichi Akama (赤間 健一 Akama Ken'ichi) is a world class explorer and mountain climber who transforms into GoggleRed (ゴーグルレッド Gōguru Reddo), the Red Ranger and leader of Goggle-V[1].
About[]
After saving Dr. Hongo from Deathdark's Madaramen, he came to realize what peril the world was in. His forehead jewel is the ruby (it has the lowest roll call pitch), symbolizing the lost civilization of Atlantis. His rhythmic gymnastic apparatus is the rope, which is similar to the ropes he uses when rappelling.
History[]
Goggle-V[]
Joining Goggle-V[]
When discovering Burg Wolf castle in Germany, Kenichi finds Dr. Hideki Hongo was attacked by some Madaramen. Kenichi fights and destroys many of them before the rest flee away.
After Kenichi and Dr. Hongo survive from the exploded Burg Wolf, Dr. Hongo brings Kenichi to Future Science Laboratory. As the Goggle-V team formed, they get their own Goggle Braces. Dr. Hongo calls Kenichi as GoggleRed, with the power of ruby and Atlantis.
When Seashell Mozoo and several Madaramen are attacking the city, Goggle-V comes and fight them. GoggleRed uses his signature weapon, Red Rope to defeat the Madaramen. Goggle-V then use ribbons in respective colours given by Goggle Pink to shock Seashell Mozoo. Without giving the Mozoo chance to attack, they finish it with Goggle Victory Flash.
After Fan Kong is summoned (with the revived Seashell Mozoo as the pilot), Goggle Caesar is summoned. Tatsuya orders GoggleRed to pilot Goggle Jet. Using Chikyu Gattai Goggle Robo, they succesfully defeat Fan Kong by splitting it into two. TV STORY-Ep. 1: The Invasion of Dark Science
As a Goggle-V[]
While wandering at Korakuen Stadium, Kenichi senses a mysterious woman in suit. Feeling suspicious about the woman, he sets "3 balls no strikes" signal from the scoreboard, which Kanpei translates this as an alert signal. After the Goggle-V follow the woman, they are lured into Bird Mozoo's trap. They also fight the woman identifying herself as Mazurka, a Deathdark general. Alas, the Goggle-V struggle with Bird Mozoo's ability to manipulate gravity. Feeling exhausted, they are ordered to retreat. In Future Science Laboratory, Dr. Hongo tells them the goal of Goggle-V is for fighting against Deathdark for righteous science.
While they are ready to fight Bird Mozoo again, the Comboy exploit the syntethic beast's weakness, which gives an advantage. As Bird Mozoo has taken Goggle Yellow's bait, Goggle Red, Black, and Blue uses the 2 seconds cooldown to initiate Triple Attack, which hits its arm.
After Bird Mozoo (and later Light Kong) is finally destroyed, the entire Future Science Laboratory, including Goggle-V have to bid farewell to Dr. Hongo as he is about travel somewhere. Letting him go, the Goggle-V and the Comboy vow to fight Deathdark while dreaming on a wonderful tomorrow. TV STORY-Ep. 2: Rise up! Warriors of the Future
Kenichi's plan to go hiking with his friend turns into disaster with an earthquake that makes him fall onto a newly-created valley. Furthermore, his friend's younger sister is abducted by Deathdark. TV STORY-Ep. 3: Attack Deathtopia
Imitations[]

Deathdark V
Deathdark Red: GoggleRed's evil counterpart in Deathdark V, a team made of five ninja Madaramen who use a transformation technique similar to Tanuki Mozoo to become the heroes. As with the rest of Deathdark V, Deathdark Red appears similar to GoggleRed with slight differences, its scarf is the color of his uniform (red) instead of pure white, its weapon is black in color and the team introduction pose has their arms going downwards instead of upwards like the Goggle-V entry pose. Also unlike the original GoggleRed, Deathdark Red does not have the energy of the ruby. Deathdark Red was defeated in a swordfight by GoggleRed. Upon defeat, along with the rest of the team, it changed back to an ordinary Madaraman. TV STORY-Ep. 45: Two Blacks!

Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]

- Kenichi Akama is portrayed by Ryouji Akagi (赤木 良次 ).
- As GoggleRed, his suit actor was Kazuo Niibori (新堀 和男 ), who previously played VulEagle.
- In the Korean dub of Goggle-V entitled Earth Task Force Goggle-V, which aired in South Korea, Kenichi is renamed Kim Hyun-il (김현일?), while he keeps his ranger designation (가글 레드 Gageul Redeu?). He is voiced by Kim Hwanjin (김환진?), who also provided narration for the same series.
Design[]
- GoggleRed wears a red cloth suit with a white torso rounded down towards a stripe around the belt-buckle, with a white belt and a buckle in a triangular form; the long top of the triangle is a stretched-out letter "G" with the Arabic number "5" filling the rest. His gloves are white with a red band around the wrists and the boots are pure white. A pin with the Goggle-V logo is pinned on his left side and a scarf flows around his neck. Beneath the belt is a white pocket where he keeps his Goggle Sabre. The helmet is split in three, with a red top and a gray mouthpiece at the bottom. His visor is black with the relief from above the visor falling down making it appear similar to a pair of goggles instead of uniform. Above the visor is an ornate design with a red ruby in the center carved in the shape of a circle, a representation of the number "1".
- The mask of GoggleRed was designed by Katsushi Murakami (村上 克司 Murakami Katsushi).

The GoggleRed Ranger Key (ゴーグルレッドレンジャーキー Gōguru Reddo Renjā Kī) is Kenichi Akama's personal Ranger Key and what became of his powers after he along with the rest of the 34 Super Sentai sacrificed their powers to end the Great Legend War.
This key along with the majority of the Ranger Keys were collected by the Red Pirates and later used by the Gokaigers. The GoggleRed Ranger Key was mainly used by Captain Marvelous (Gokai Red), who used it to fight as GoggleRed. It was also used by Gai Ikari on one occasion.
