Kartyr is a Xybrian Academy cadet and supporting character in the comic spinoff series Ranger Academy. Kartyr has not been selected a Ranger color at this point due to injury and failing the first Morphin Trial. 
COMIC STORY- Ranger Academy Issue 4
History[]
Kartyr was sent to Ranger Academy by his family, something that put a lot of pressure on him since all of his sisters were Pink Rangers.
He met Sage at Blue Campus late into the freshman year, bullying her for her inability to keep up with her studies and naive unawareness about the Power Rangers. He also bullied Lindy about her short height, but she was completely unfazed by it and remarked that he is just jealous because she, Sage and Theo got the highest scores in the school on the flight simulator. On the day of the first Morphin Trial, the kids traveled in an Astro Shuttle piloted by Professor Walker to Chromia. He mishears Lindy describing his comments about Sage being green in the gills as an old idiom involving the ears, thinking she called Sage an idiot until Lindy explained the difference. Kartyr is then dumbfounded that the shepherd girl has only flown out in space only twice in her entire life. He sarcastically remarks that Sage’s team is so lucky to have her experience. This almost starts a fight between the two, but Maev tells Kartyr to stop and Lindy calms Sage down saying he is just scared to go outside the Shuttle.
Upon landing on Chromia, Kartyr and Maev ditched Theo, Sage and Lindy to beat them to Prism Peak by taking the fastest route without planning their way there. While Maev had every intention of finishing her trial, Kartyr couldn’t handle the overwhelming sense that he was not good enough and later decided to hurt himself by falling on purpose into a pit in the Pitted Plains. He ended up breaking his ankle in the fall and had a concussion. Maev believed it was a terrible accident and called for help. Sage and her team came to the rescue, making a pulley with some vines and lifted him out of the hole. He was not pleased with being rescued but hid those feelings from everyone as Meav put him on a stretcher. Sage then sent up an emergency flare to call the Astro Shuttle for an airlift, volunteering to stay behind and look after Kartyr.
The two cadets talk while waiting, Kartyr is forced to admit he hurt himself because he is scared of failure and it was better to fail seemingly trying then possibly fail by not morphing. Sage also expresses her own insecurities about not being good enough, but Kartyr tells her she has every right to be a cadet especially after what she did for him. Despite the pep talk and half compliments, he reverts back to his tsundere bullying by saying he still thinks Sage is a loser and doesn’t like her. But when asked what color he wants to be, he explained how his siblings are all Rangers and the expectations of his family and he only wishes to see if the Morphin Grid saw something worthwhile in him. He encourages Sage to quit being distracted and focus on her studies as he sees the potential in her because of her courage and the fact she actually might have a chance. Later, he gets airlifted to the Shuttle and upon the other cadets finishing the trial, heads back to Ranger Academy. COMIC STORY- Ranger Academy Issue 4
Upon arrival, he is carried by paramedics to the Academy’s Infirmary. Later, Maev comes to check on him and shows off her Power Coin to talk about how she morphed for the first time into a Yellow Ranger and he congratulates her. She hugs Kartyr, relieved that he is alright, but he feels guilty for lying to her about how he got his injures. Sage walks in and Kartyr is glad she is fine as he does not want her acting weird when they both go to Trial Remediation Classes.
Later in the evening, Kartyr and Maev decide to have a sleepover in Sage’s dorm with Maev having stolen a bowl of cookies from the Cafeteria because “cookies fix everything”.
Later, Kartyr goes with Sage and Lindy to the Counselor’s office as part of the special classes, but Kartyr doesn’t get a turn to talk about his feelings as Sage has a breakdown after the Spectra-Tube shows her father and the Guidance Counselor ends the session early.
At the Remedial Gym Class, Kartyr can’t participate yet because of his injuries, but noticed that Sage was still distracted, throwing a dirty towel at her to snap her out of her daze. He told her that being part of a team means paying attention to each other.
When the cadets discussed the upcoming Parent Weekend, Kartyr joked that everyone can have his family since they are all coming to the event and it can be a stifling experience for him. Lindy offers to distract his parents because how likable she is. Kartyr then mentions that he heard some of the cadets who attend the Academy have famous Legendary Rangers as parents. Personality[]
Kartyr has a male tsundere type personality, as he is a jerk who bullies and teases people at times but deep down is actually a good person who is insecure, scared and under enormous pressure from the high expectations of his family. He often has a Cheshire-like grin when being smug or teasing.
His friend Maev will often stop him from going too far in his acts of bullying, usually with the nudge of an elbow or a light bonk on the head. While family legacy is what brought him to Ranger Academy, he only wants to know if he has something worthwhile inside of him if he becomes a Ranger.
He secretly seems to care about Sage to some degree, especially after rescuing him, though he doesn’t want to admit it and denies he does. It is unclear, but she seems to be a platonic frenemy with him who has no romantic interest at this time.
