This article is about a set of mecha and power-up implements in Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger. |
Karakuri Balls (カラクリボール Karakuri Bōru, lit. Trick Balls) are summoned spheres that contain weapons for Karakuri Giant Senpuujin, Karakuri Giant Gouraijin, Karakuri Giant Tenkuujin, and Super Karakuri Beast Revolver Mammoth. They are summoned using the Shinobi Medals (シノビメダル Shinobi Medaru).
Overview[]
Known as Variable Attack Units, Karakuri Balls are designed like capsule toys. When coin-like Shinobi Medals are inserted in one of the Karakuri Giants, the robot materializes and launches a ball from its chest. This Ball then splits open to reveal a small-sized weapon mecha inside. A finisher performed with them are called Ultimate Secret (究極奥義 Kyūkyokuōgi) for an individually used weapon, and Finish Trick (フィニッシュトリック Finisshutorikku) for a combination of two weapons. For Senpuujin, the Balls themselves can also be used as short-ranged projectiles, as they can be launched at an unsuspecting enemy who stands too close to the robot to damage and repel them before the mecha comes out.
Revolver Mammoth can launch Karakuri Balls en masse, both to attack and to summon weapons, which then attach themselves on the Mammoth.
AbarenOh, on one occasion, managed to summon a special Karakuri Ball after receiving Dinoguts from the Hurricanegers and Gouraigers.

Its finisher is Copy Illusion Slash (分身幻斬り Bunshin Maboroshi Giri) attack where Senpuujin forms two illusionary copies which then slash the opponent three times from different angles. While the Gouraigers have their own copy of the Sword Slasher, they rarely use it, nor does Gouraijin have a special attack with it. Legendary Karakuri Balls[]
The two medals are the keystones of Astrom and Earth's Karakuri Ball technology. They are also critical items sought by the Jakanja to bring forth the Evil Will.
Arrow of Wrath[]
The Arrow of Wrath (怒りの矢 Ikari no Ya) is an arrow with a sword-like grip at the end of its shaft. Without the Bow of Grieving, a weak user goes into a berserk rage.
The Arrow's medal originally lied inside the Seal Stone (封印の石 Fuuin no Ishi)}, which was obtained by Sandaaru after destroying Astrom. He used the rage of others to unseal it and the medal stayed in Jakanja's hands until the Hurricanegers got it after defeating Sargain. Sandaaru eventually reclaimed it for the Jakanja. In the end, Boss Tau Zant combined the Arrow of Wrath and the Bow of Grieving to open a wormhole that contained the Evil Will. The Arrow of Wrath got sucked into the vortex it brought about. The Hurricanegers later entered the wormhole and shot the Arrow at the Evil Will to destroy its dimension.
Rather than being marked with a kanji, its Shinobi Medal resembles the pattern of a sand dollar.
Bow of Grieving[]
The Bow of Grieving (嘆きの弓 Nageki no Yumi) that allows the wielder to safely use the Arrow of Wrath.
Known as the Dark Stone (闇石 Yami Ishi), it came to Earth during a meteor shower and became the keystone in the creation of the technologies used by the Hurricanegers and the Gouraigers. It was sealed in Gozen and became the source of her longevity until Sandaaru managed to break the seal and use the Arrow of Wrath to force the Bow of Grieving out. After Boss Tao Zant used it to open the wormhole, the Bow of Grieving was regained by the Hurricanegers, who used it to reverse the doomsday process.
Rather than being marked with a kanji, its Shinobi Medal is marked with a complex hexagonal pattern that was used as the crest of the Space Unified Ninja School.
