Kaito Goshikida (五色田 介人, Goshikida Kaito) is Zenkaizer (ゼンカイザー, Zenkaizā), the White Ranger and leader of the Zenkaigers in Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger. He is one of the first two Zenkaigers to be awakened, the first human member of the team, and the only human part of the core team.

Personality

Kaito wants to be the number one at everything. He is usually easygoing, but when his interest is triggered, he becomes hot-headed and excited. He is also not one for foresight, as seen when attempting to bungee jump from the Tokyo Skytree with unlicensed equipment or reach Tojitendo Palace by jumping off his friends' backs.

He is a brave and daring man, as he did not hesitate to step in and oppose the evil invaders who were threatening his world, even when unarmed. outnumbered, and being overpowered. When he was handed the Geartlinger and Sentai Gears, Kaito declared his desire of protecting the world with no hesitation.

Despite his own eccentricities, he exhibits great friendliness and level-headedness. He welcomed the quirks of his friends with open arms even before they became the Zenkaigers, and opted to look at the good one does before the bad. During the initial invasion of the Tojitendo, he did not discriminate against Juran due to just being a Kikainoid, but instead, he focused on the good he did instead.

Having lost his parents for about ten years, Kaito longs to figure out what happened to them. When he gets an idea of what had happened to them he becomes more hot-headed than usual, rushing into combat and ignoring vulnerable civilians. While he reconciles with the need to help others he still prioritizes his parents, attempting to figure out ways to infiltrate the Tojitendo Palace, the place they were last rumored to be in.

Kaito also has an optimistic opinion on fortunetelling, which he considers not as a foolproof instruction, but as a hopeful motivator in the times of hardship. Kaito is also very creative, using samba carnival feathers to tickle and incapacitate brainwashed civilians so as not to harm them. This trait makes him appear as hilarious to Zocks.

As with all of the Zenkaigers, Zenkaizer exceeds in gunmanship, though due to lacking a personal weapon, he also specializes in freestyle and physical hand-to-hand combat. His sole access to the Sentai Gears adds to his and the Zenkaiger's abilities. Zenkaizer would later gain the Zenryoku Zenkai Cannon, allowing him to counter Stacaesar's Dark Sentai Gear summons.

Zenkaizer can use the ZenKaijuu Gear to transform into Super Zenkaizer (スーパーゼンカイザー, Sūpā Zenkaizā).

In this form Zenkaizer gains bulky armor reminiscent of Dragon Caesar, increasing his strength and durability, along with being granted the drill-like Zenkai Tenlance to fight. Despite the increased body mass, the armor does not hinder Zenkaizer's mobility in any form, and he remains as agile as he did without it. Much like the Kikainoid Zenkaigers, Super Zenkaizer can grow to a giant size as Giant Super Zenkaizer, though in his case his height matches both ZenkaiOh and TwokaiOh. As Giant Super Zenkaizer, Kaito can combine into ZenKaijuOh with Zocks as Super Twokaizer SD.

Attacks

• Super Zenkai Super Buster (超ゼンカイスーパーバスター, Chō Zenkai Sūpā Basutā): Super Zenkaizer charges the Geartlinger with green energy from the Zenkaiju Gear before pulling the trigger and firing at a falling Zenkai Tenlance, charging it into a high-speed missile that bores through the enemy before their bodies explode.

Giant Super Zenkaizer can assume the form of the ZenKaijuDrill, a large flying vehicle with a drill in the front. Simply charging at the enemy as the ZenKaiju Drill can finish off an opponent.

Zenkaizer can merge with Kamen Rider Saber to become Super Hero Senki (スーパーヒーロー戦記, Supāhīrō Senki).

Zenkaizer transforms into the Super Hero Senki Wonder Ride Book, which is used by Kamen Rider Saber to assume the Zenkaizer-based form. While Touma Kamiyama primarily takes on the form, Kaito's consiousness can project itself to assume a finisher with Saber.

Zenkaizer Ranger Key

The Zenkaizer Ranger Key (ゼンカイザーレンジャーキー, Zenkaizā Renjā Kī) is Kaito's personal Ranger Key released as part of the "Ranger Key Memorial Edition - After Gokai Hero Set". It is unknown if it will appear in a future crossover. Of course as with all Ranger Keys, should it exist, it would be able to transform one, i.e. one of the Gokaigers, into Zenkaizer.

Portrayal

• Kaito Goshikida is portrayed by Kiita Komagine (駒木根 葵汰, Komagine Kiita). As a child, he is portrayed by Yumeki Uenoyama (上野山 夢輝, Uenoyama Yumeki).
• As Zenkaizer, his suit actor is Masashi Takada (高田 将司, Takada Masashi), who previously served as suit actor for Kiramai Silver.

Design

• Zenkaizer's design is heavily based on Akarenger from Himitsu Sentai Gorenger while his color scheme and his role as leader are similar to Big One from J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai.
• Super Zenkaizer's design is heavily based on Guardian Beast Dragon Caesar from Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, particularly its Goryuuzin combination.

Concept Art

Etymology

• Kaito's surname, Goshikida (五色田, Goshikida), is composed of the kanji for five (五, five) and color (色, color).
  • Also it sounds like "I'm the 5 colors" (五色だ, Goshiki da).
• 田 and 介 are used as radicals to form the kanji for "world" (界, Kai), making his full name a play on words meaning "Five-Colored Worlder" (五色界人, "Five-Colored Worlder"). (It is more visible when reading Japanese vertically).

Notes

• Zenkaizer is:
  • The first non-Red Ranger to appear in a Hand-Off.
  • The last core Zenkaiger to gain a personal weapon, only able to rely on his Geartlinger until he retrieved the Zenryoku Zenkai Cannon from Hakaizer.
  • The first Sentai main protagonist to not be red, though his clothes and suit design feature it as a prominent secondary color.
• Zenkaizer's helmet features spots on his visor, which calls back to the early days of Sentai where helmet visors had to be perforated in order for the suit actors to see until the use of transparent materials became commonplace.
• The third episode of the series reveals that his astrological sign is Sagittarius.
• With the exception of his Super Zenkaizer form, Kaito is the only Zenkaiger whose ranger suit was not based on a series adapted into a Power Rangers series.
