Joe Shih is the elder brother of Marvin Shih (HyperForce Red) who was the Time Force Silver of the Time Force Rangers of Time Force. He was missing for a long time before returning and losing his powers, thus gaining the new form of HyperForce Green of the HyperForce Rangers from Jen Scotts.
He is one of the main protagonists of Power Rangers HyperForce. He is also the husband of Nadira and the father of Mathis.

Early Life[]
Joe was born on the planet Kaien, with his brother Marvin being born sometime later. Joe eventually joined the Time Force Academy and was active at the same time the Hyperforce Program was being created. COMIC STORY- Power Rangers: Sins of the Future At some point, Joe seemingly disappeared to go on a secret mission.
Saving Marv[]
After the HyperForce Rangers sent a message to the Time Force Academy in the year 3017 to help them save their Red Ranger, Joe's brother Marv, Joe was sent by Time Force PD to rescue his brother from the Alliance Leader.
He morphed into the Time Force Silver Ranger and rescued his brother who was on a stolen time ship from the Alliance. Joe distracted Velchanos and a bunch of Putties so that the two could escape from the ship. Once Marv was finally safe, Joe told him where he has been, why he never returned and what his secret mission is in regards to the Alliance Leader's scheme. Sadly, he had to leave and continue his mission, but Marv was just relieved that his big brother is alive and well. TV STORY-Save Marv

Shattered Grid[]
Joe eventually receives Zordon's call through the Morphin Grid and is among numerous Rangers who rally to his pocket dimension led by the Quantum Ranger for the last stand against Lord Drakkon, reunited in the Command Center. COMIC STORY- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Boom! Studios) Issue 29
Joe and the other Rangers have their Morphers upgraded by Doctor K, so he along with the other HyperForce Rangers doesn't get their powers stolen. Joe was there to hear Jason's rousing speech at the Command Center, preparing among other Rangers to be teleported on the moon of the World of the Coinless for the fight against Drakkon and his Ranger Sentries, led by Jason. He is seen briefly in Tommy Oliver's vision when an alternate Kimberly aim a Green Chaos Crystal thrown at him. COMIC STORY- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid Finale Issue 1
Joe's timeline is later restored by the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers after they defeated Drakkon.

Ranger Academy[]
By the time of Ranger Academy, Nadira had married Joe and had two children, her son Joel and her non-binary child Mathis. She sent Mathis to Ranger Academy for an opportunity for better education and to follow in their father’s footsteps to become a Ranger.
Because she can teleport from any point in time to the Academy to check on her child, she often confuses Mathis with what time period she is from as they describe their brother Joel as simultaneously their older and younger brother and is confused when Nadira refers to her husband’s status as a Ranger in the past tense. Etymology[]
- Joe Shih is named after his actor, Yoshi Sudarso, specifically a common mispronunciation of his first name. He was given this name by Peter Sudarso before knowing that Yoshi would play the character. [1]
Notes[]
- Joe Shih is played by Peter Sudarso's real-life older brother Yoshi Sudarso. Coincidentally, both had played a past Blue Ranger - Yoshi played Koda from Dino Charge, while Peter played Preston from Ninja Steel.
- Joe is the first character to be added to a Power Rangers team after that team's self-contained season had ended.
- HyperForce Green has a gold-colored chest armor piece, a reference to the original Green Ranger's Dragon Shield.
- Like the Dragon Shield it can be transferred to another Ranger if necessary, as it has been transferred to HyperForce Red on two occasions.
- Joe is the first Ranger to have both Silver and Green Ranger forms.
- Joe appears in the background of Sins of the Future, while Captain Logan is discussing the HyperForce Initiative with Jen.
