Ian Hughes (born April 8, 1969) is a Canadian-born New Zealand actor who played Perry in Ninja Storm, voiced Badrat in Power Rangers Jungle Fury and the Galaxy Warriors Slogre and Hacktrack in Ninja Steel. He also voices the Galactic Ninja Speedwing in Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel.
Bio[]
Ian trained as a sculptor, completing a degree in Fine Arts at Auckland University's Elam Art School before embarking on a career as an actor.
Ian has now been a professional actor for over a decade, and has a series of acclaimed performances in theatre, film, and television to his name.
He starred as Ant in Harry Sinclair's TV series and feature film Topless Women Talk About Their Lives, and toured New Zealand, Australia and the UK with Madeline Sami in Toa Fraser's play Bare, in which he played nine different characters.
Other roles include Beregond in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings; The Return of the King, Iain in the Australian film He Died With a Felafel in His Hand, Drew in Athena Tsoulis' film I'll Make You Happy, Guilderstern in the Downstage Theatre Production of Rosecrantz and Guilderstern Are Dead, and Cordelius in the New Zealand Actors Company production of Leah.
He has produced and designed for theatre, and recently wrote, directed and starred in his first short film The Waiting Room, which also featured Mercy Peak actress Sara Wiseman.
Ian took time out this year from his Shortland Street role as lovable geek Martin 'Sticky' Stickwell, to play Sticky's polar opposite Jack Kerouac in the popular New Zealand play Beautiful Losers.
Personal life[]
In his spare time, Ian is involved in running the voice agency Bigmouth, and enjoys spending time with his partner and their young daughter.
