Notes[]
- Due to Hoeru's poverty, his means of acquiring sugar comes from drinking nectar from the flowers that he picked. Writer Akiko Inoue likens this habit to how certain children would drink flower nectar, as azalea was originally proposed for that scene, but was substituted with other flowers out of fear of children imitating his actions with certain poisonous azaleas. This scene was originally intended to start in episode 2, only to be carried out later in episode 4 due to time constraints.[9]
- In Episode 2, Hoeru's socks in his Cockpit Uniform are shown to have holes in them, and he's also shown to eat bread crusts and milk, further hinting at his poverty.
- Hoeru is the second Red Ranger with a canine theme after Wolzard Fire and the first to be part of a core Ranger team.
- According to an interview with Daigo Matsuura, [10]Wild GozyuWolf's tentative name was Full Moon GozyuWolf (フルムーンゴジュウウルフ Furu Mūn Gojūurufu). The original concept during the planning was "Because I'm a wolf, I want to see the full moon and power up into Full Moon GozyuWolf (tentative name)!". Traces of that idea can still be seen with Wild GozyuWolf's transformation, where a full moon is briefly seen filling in the space on his chest.
