Hexcurio was a genie/phantom-themed Sporix Beast working under Void Queen in Power Rangers Dino Fury Season 2 who is Mucus' "new brother" and the twenty-fifth Sporix Beast to awaken in the Power Rangers Dino Fury series. He is the main antagonist of the Dino Fury Season 2 episode "Wishful Thinking".

History

Past

Over 65 million years ago, Hexcurio and the other Sporix Beasts were created on Rafkon by military leaders hoping to use them as weapons against an approaching evil. Aiyon believed they are dangerous and as he predicted, they eventually turned against their creators and desired to destroy all life in the universe. Though Zayto and his fellow Knights of Rafkon fought hard, the Sporix ravaged Rafkon and removed all traces of life from the planet. The Sporix then turned their attention to Earth but Zayto and the remaining Knights had managed to escape Rafkon and tracked the Sporix Beasts to Earth where they engaged them in battle with the help of the dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Despite the Knights initially having the upper-hand against the Sporix, most of them grew enough in power over time to grow giant and force the Knights of Rafkon and thier dinosaur allies to retreat. When all seemed lost however, the Morphin Masters arrived and bestowed the Morphin Grid's powers to Zayto and his followers, as the first Ancient Dino Fury Rangers which gave them the advantage they need to defeat the Sporix Beasts and seal them inside of their eggs.

When the other Sporix are accidentally released in the modern day during Void Knight's invasion of Dinohenge, Hexcurio is amongst the Sporix Beasts that escape. TV STORY-Destination Dinohenge

Void Queen introduces Hexcurio to Mucus as her "new brother", much to the latter's joy. As she comments on his hat, the monster then gives her one of his charms, for which she wishes for a hat "as fantastic as his". Although the wish came true, the charm turns Mucus into a human after Hexcurio cursed it when giving a warning to the latter, much to the general's shock and horror as Void Queen assigns her a task to trick the Dino Fury Power Rangers.

Later on, Hexcurio approaches the Red, Pink, Blue, Green, Gold Rangers and Lani Akana when they confront Mucus (still in her human form) about the Pink Ranger's Wish Charm being faulty and not coming true. After Mucus teleports away in embarrassment, the Red Ranger tries to call in the Black Ranger but to no avail, and the Green Ranger called him a "Cheap Trick", Hexcurio removes the Rangers' charms and transforms them, turning the Green Ranger into a smaller version of the T-Rex Champion Zord, the Pink Ranger into a twelve-year-old girl and the Blue Ranger into a miniature action figure of himself. Right before the Gold Ranger could use the Light Key to reverse the spell, Void Queen appears along with Void King to destroy the key with her finger laser and they teleported away with Hexcurio as should he be destroyed, the curse will be removed.

Back at the base, Hexcurio, Slyther and Mucus laugh at Wreckmate's defeat from Solon. Slyther then suggests that he takes on the Rangers, though Hexcurio says that while he would like to come along, Void Queen told him he can't join due to him being "too important". Mucus (after realizing that if Hexcurio is defeated, she will revert back to normal) encourages Slyther to let the wish-granting monster help out, which the former agrees.

Hexcurio and Slyther then cause havoc at a garage, for which the Red, Black, Green and Gold Rangers approach the duo. The Rangers (minus the Green Ranger due to her still being cursed) morph and Slyther summons an army of Hengemen. The Gold and Black Rangers do battle against Hexcurio and easily overpower the monster, though the Beast did try to stall the Black Ranger by warning him of the outcome after his defeat. The Black Ranger transforms into Dino Master Mode and unleashes the Stego Master Strike to deal high damage, but Hexcurio then grows into giant size, for which the Rangers then summon the T-Rex Champion Zord, Tricera Blade Zord, Ankylo Hammer Zord, Tiger Claw Zord and Stego Spike Zord to form the Dino Fury Megazord Warrior Spike Formation and the Mosa Razor Zord which transforms into the Mosa Razor Zord Battle mode to fight the monster. Their combined power was able to overwhelm Hexcurio with ease, and with the Twin Dino Slash, the beast was then defeated and reverted back to a Sporix Egg. Even though he is not seen again, Hexcurio participates at the invasion of the Sporix during the final battle against the Rangers and the Rafkonians. He is defeated off-screen by the Rafkonians, his Sporix Egg was used by Void Queen to create the gigantic Nemesis Beast, and after the Rangers' victory, he is imprisoned forever by Master Red, Blue, and Green in a crystal.

Personality

Hexcurio is a sneaky and incredibly cunning monster who takes great pleasure in making his enemies' wishes come true, but with a cost as a certain circumstance.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

• Teleportation: Hexcurio can teleport in a purple energy streak.
• Enlarging: Like all other Sporix Beasts, Hexcurio can enlarge himself using the energy he gains while fighting.

Abilities

• Durability: Hexcurio has thick skin that lets him withstand attacks from his enemies, being able to be hit by the Stego Master Strike and not get a scratch.

Weaknesses

• Link to Wish Charms: Hexcurio is linked to his Wish Charms, meaning if he is destroyed, the wishes granted by the charms will wear off.

Arsenal

• Wish Charms: Hexcurio has special wish-granting charms that possess the following effects:
  • Hat Creation: A Wish Charm can create a hat for anyone, as seen with Mucus.
  • Humanization: A Wish Charm can turn any creature/Sporix into a human, as seen with Mucus.
  • Luck Bestowal: A Wish Charm can bestow luck on to a person, as seen with the Black Ranger.
  • Teleportation Cast: A Wish Charm can teleport a person to anyone he/she loves, as seen with Dr. Lani Akana.
  • Transmutation: The Wish Charms were able to turn anyone into anything, such as turning Izzy into a mechanical T-Rex and Ollie into a Blue Ranger action figure.
  • Age Reversal: A Wish Charm is able to reverse the ages of anyone, such as turning Amelia into a twelve-year old girl.
• Horn Blade: Hexcurio has a blade-style horn on his face for defensive purpose.
• Pen Wand: Hexcurio wields a large pen-style wand, despite not using it in combat.
  • Wish Granting: With his staff, Hexcurio is able to grant wishes to anyone holding a wish charm.
    • Curse Inducement: When granting wishes with his pen wand, Hexcurio can sometimes curse anyone holding his Wish Charms. The curse will be removed if Hexcurio is defeated and reverted back into his Sporix Egg Form.

• Hexcurio is a cross between a phantom, which is a type of supernatural entity and a genie, a character from Fairy Tales.

Etymology

• Hexcurio's name is derived from the word "Hex".

Notes

• In the Japanese version of Power Rangers Dino Fury (Ryusoulger), the Phantom Minosaur (Hexcurio's Super Sentai counterpart) was the final monster to be fought.
  • This was changed because they needed a monster with limited footage to add in the finale.
• In some ways, Hexcurio is shown to be one of the weaker Sporix Beasts of the Power Rangers Dino Fury series (only surpassed by Shockhorn and the Spider Sketch Monster), possessing little-to-no offense in his abilities.
• Hexcurio shares many parallel similarities to Wish Star from Power Rangers Dino Charge:
  • They are both monsters that are themed after wishes.
  • They both have handheld weapons (Wish Star: Bamboo Staff, Hexcurio: Pen Wand).
  • Both debuted in a Power Ranger show that is themed on dinosaurs, both of which got a sequel/new season.
  • They both have a selection of items that can grant wishes, in which the aftermath of the results will have consequences later on (Wish Star: Wishing Cards, Hexcurio: Wish Charms).
    • Coincidentally, their names starts with the words "Wish" and their second word's name starts with the letter "C" and ends with the letter "S".
• Hexcurio is the first Monster-of-the-Week since Flapnarok six episodes ago, as one episode focuses on Void King, the episode right after that focuses on Lothorn, and the next three episodes focus on Lord Zedd, Sizzurai and Boomblaster.
