"Oh, me? It's my turn? All I do is work, work, work. Mmm. I'm hungry. When's lunch?"
―Hekatoid after being chosen.[src]

"Call it an insurance policy. The Rangers won't destroy me if they don't know where their beloved teacher is."
―Hekatoid explaining his plan to Itassis.[src]

"Uh-oh. Wait."
―Hekatoid's final words before his destruction.[src]

Hekatoid was one of the Ten Terrors. He was a gluttonous, turquoise toad-like monster who wielded a hammer that also functioned as a trumpet. He was the fifth Terror to fight the Rangers, being "fought" for the first time in the episode "Hard Heads" as the secondary antagonist and the second time as the main antagonist in the two-part episode "Light Source".

History[]

In the episode "The Light", When Necrolai first met the Ten Terrors, Hekatoid used the trumpet function of his hammer to blow her away. Necrolai told them that the Master was defeated again, Imperious was destroyed, and now the Terrors had to help conquer the world. They listened to her and agreed to help conquer the Surface World.

The Terrors arrived in the human world and introduced themselves to the people of Briarwood, when the sky turned dark. Sculpin told the people to give them the Light, who is actually Nick Russell, the Red Ranger and leader of Mystic Rangers. When the Rangers tried to intervene, the Terrors easily defeated the Rangers' Manticore Megazord and left. Tvicon TV STORY-The Light

In the episode "Hard Heads", Hekatoid was tricked into fighting the Rangers by Serpentina since she knew that it would be her turn to be chosen by the Stone of Judgement. He arrived at Briarwood and battled Nick and Vida and squirted them with a special slime by squeezing one of his warts, making them unable to morph. When the other Rangers arrived, Hekatoid enlarged himself to battle the Manticore Megazord and Solar Streak Megazord. However, when the Selection Ceremony to choose Serpentina was underway, he was forced to retreat and return to the lair.

Itassis was able to pry the information that Hekatoid was sent by Serpentina to give her an advantage in the next battle. Tvicon TV STORY-Hard Heads

During the episode "The Snow Prince", he continually expressed his concern about how the Terrors that were dispatched seemed to have a disadvantage against the Rangers and was amazed that Megahorn was defeated.

At the end of the episode "Snow Prince", he found Udonna and Clare at the Lake of Lament and attacked them, knocking Clare unconscious before using his long frog tongue to capture Udonna. Tvicon TV STORY-The Snow Prince

In the two-part episode "Light Source", he was the fifth chosen by the Stone of Judgement to attack the surface world. When Hekatoid was chosen, he disliked and complained about having to work, and Matoombo scolded him because of his gluttonous and sloppy habits. Black Lance expressed some concerns that he felt that Hekatoid was not ready because he was greatly out of shape.

Hekatoid explain to Itassis that he planned to lure the Power Rangers to him using the captured Udonna as bait.

Hekatoid attacked Briarwood in giant size and battled the Titan Megazord and Solar Streak Megazord. Then Hekatoid revert to normal size and revealed to the Rangers that he prepared his children (poison toads), who were in eggs, and when they hatch out, they will poison the city.

He teleported the Rangers to another dimension and challenged the heroes to a game where they had to battle a large group of Hidiacs and Styxoids within a time limit, which they succeeded in doing. The Rangers were victorious, but Hekatoid cheated by freezing them with a spell. Nick summoned Fire Heart to defeat the Soldiers of Darkness.

Next, he sent them off to fight evil clones of the Rangers. The evil Red Ranger clone turned Nick, Vida and Xander into dice. When Madison and Chip defeated the clones, the Rangers were victorious.

The heroes went to Hekatoid's lair and their friends were freed. The Rangers got to fight Hekatoid himself to reclaim Udonna, but he refused to give up Udonna so easily and their battle took them from the lair and back up to the surface.

When it seemed that the Rangers finally got Udonna from Hekatoid's grasp, he used one of his sludge blasts to send her away again. He also stole the Rangers' ability to morph via a scepter-shaped jar before fleeing back to his lair.

Once there, Hekatoid found out that Daggeron and Jenji were using the Solar Streak Megazord to suck up the Poisonous Tadpole eggs in the sky and went back to fight them as a giant.

The Solar Streak Megazord used so much power in sucking up the eggs that it didn't have enough power to fight Hekatoid, and so, the Terror battled Daggeron on foot.

Knowing Hekatoid was out of shape, the Rangers used their agility and endurance to tire out the toad and take back their Ranger powers. By this time, the tadpoles had matured into frogs and began raining down from the sky. Before they could reach the ground however, the newly restored Udonna used her ice magic to freeze and vaporize the frogs.

Hekatoid's demise

When their powers were returned, Udonna and the Rangers combined their magic to finally destroy Hekatoid. This makes him the fifth Terror to be destroyed and the fourth to be destroyed by the Rangers. Tvicon TV STORY-Light Source

Personality[]

Unlike the other Ten Terrors, Hekatoid is very laid back and is not very bright. He speaks in a deep, wheezing voice, however, his voice is nowhere near as dark as that of Matoombo. He also enjoys playing games with his opponents and loves to eat, especially dessert foods such as cakes and donuts. It's revealed in the final part of the two-part episode "Light Source" he keeps a large table filled with these items in his personal lair, though when it comes to fighting, he does take his mission seriously and is loyal to the Master. Hekatoid is also very protective of his children/frogs and was shown to be horrified when he saw that Daggeron and Jenji were destroying them.

Notes[]

Hekatoid suit in storage.

  • Hekatoid is the only Terror that is not based off of a mythological creature.
  • From how Black Lance said that Hekatoid's "out of shape", it's possible that before the events of Power Rangers Mystic Force, Hekatoid was thinner.
  • Hekatoid is the first and only Terror in Power Rangers Mystic Force to have his own personal lair.
  • Among the Ten Terrors, Hekatoid is easily the weakest of them all, possessing horribly weak stamina (in the first part of the two-part episode "Light Source", Black Lance noted that he was out of shape) and being easily injured by any attacks the Rangers use.
