This article is about a minor character in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. |
Harvey Garvey was the host of the television talk show "The Harvey Garvey Show" who only appeared in the Season 2 episode "Lights, Camera, Action".
History[]
Harvey was born at some point in 1953.
The Power Rangers are somehow contacted and agree to appear on the Harvey Garvey show to present some unspecified PSA about education. After an attack by Goldar and the Putty Patrol, Harvey opens his show and shows off some footage (from an episode that hadn't aired yet) before introducing the Power Rangers by front-flips. He then asks about how they used their intelligence before they used the Jaws of Destruction (where they only needed brute force to win) and the Pudgy Pig (where they only won through dumb luck). Whilst Bulk and Skull try and fail to knock out one of the Rangers with a sandbag so they could run down and unmask the team, due to hitting Bulk with a sandbag instead, the Rangers peer pressure Harvey into doing a swing kick which fails miserably. However, shortly thereafter, Lord Zedd creates the Showbiz Monster who the Power Rangers have to go and fight which cuts the interview short though they manage to deliver their message anyway.
Harvey Garvey died in 2022. His tombstone was destroyed during a fight with Robo-Rita and her minions. TV STORY-Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always
Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
- Harvey Garvey was the first Power Rangers role of long-standing voice actor Kim Strauss, best known as the voice of Ninjor from the next season.
- This was also his only physical acting role in the franchise as all others were just him voicing monsters or rubber suited characters.
Notes[]
- "Lights, Camera, Action" was originally meant to be the 100th episode of Power Rangers which is why it was almost entirely a clip-show showing off the past adventures of the Rangers. Harvey and his talk show's purpose was to be the framing device for the flashbacks. However, due to the Power Transfer fiasco, FOX Kids butchered the airing order of the episode, so it ended up becoming the 93rd instead.
- This is why footage from the then un-aired episode "Forever Friends" (right down to featuring the Jaws of Destruction) could be seen during the montage prior to the Rangers' introduction in that episode. Due to this rescheduling, the actual 100th episode became "Rangers Back in Time, Part II" by air-date order.
