Haruka Kitou (鬼頭はるか, Kitō Haruka) is a high schooler and disgraced manga artist who becomes Oni Sister (オニシスター, Oni Shisutā), the Yellow Ranger of the Donbrothers. Sonoi later briefly turns her into Taiyoki (太陽鬼, Taiyōki, lit. Sun Demon) until Taro arrived and snapped her out of it.

Haruka is 17 years old at the beginning of Donbrothers. Her birthday is May 25th, 2004. She is the youngest and the only female member of the Donbrothers team.

Haruka is a high school student at Tsunokaku High School and an aspiring manga artist who has written First Love Hero. She lives in an apartment building called Grand Residence Fukuwauchi with her aunt, Yuriko Kitou, who works as a detective. She originally is meant to receive a manga award for her work, but after becoming Oni Sister, Haruka is accused of plagiarism, which has ruined her reputation. She meets Jin Momoi, who tells her she must find Taro Momoi if she wants to have things fixed. After first mistaking Sonoi and Sonoza for Taro, she manages to find the person's identity following a delivery trip with him. She later meets and befriends Shinichi Saruhara, whom she shares Taro's identity as Don Momotaro with.

Owing to her perceived status as a plagiarist, Haruka is forced to work as a waitress for Kaito's café to provide for herself. When she expresses a desire to get her old life back, Kaito shows her the Kibi-Points system and allows her to use them to fulfill the wish. While she initially is ecstatic to live her dream life, she changes her mind when she sees the new Oni Sister in her place: A photographer who also has had her life ruined due to being accused of plagiarism. Unwilling to live out her dream at another's expense, Haruka returns to being a Donbrother.

When Taro is struck down by Sonoi and disappears from Earth, Haruka and Shinichi run to Jin, asking if there is anything they can do to bring him back. Jin dismisses her, as he himself has no idea how, but assures that there will be a substitute on the way to replace Taro. Once the substitute - Jiro Momotani - makes his appearance, Haruka resolves to use the Kibi - Points, both hers and Shinichi's, again to bring Taro back, not wanting him replaced by Jiro. This only works for a short time, as after his return, Taro vanishes again after helping them beat Kousokuki. Further complicating matters is that their wish has ended up costing so many points that her and Shinichi's count are in the negatives. This results in the loss of Haruka's legs, confining her to a wheelchair.

Fortunately, after Jiro has gained the power of Don Doragoku, he joins forces with both a remorseful Sonoi and Tsuyoshi Kijino, successfully retrieving Taro from the Noto's dimensional prison. The joy upon seeing Taro back also returns her legs to normal.

Over time, her manga works reach Sonoza's hands. The Noto general wishes to learn about human emotions through her manga, so he kidnaps Haruka and has her write more manga for him. During this time, she faces Naoki Shiina, the manga artist responsible for her accusation of plagiarism. After reading Naoki's work, Haruka admits that she is not as good as Naoki, but vows to surpass Naoki in the future regardless. Sonoza, for his part, keeps acting as Haruka's manga critic whenever not fighting against her or the Donbrothers.

At her aunt's behest, Haruka eventually gains her driver’s license, despite being a terrible driver who can only drive properly in reverse gear and recklessly speed on the road when going forward. Ironically, it is her reckless driving that has once saved Tsubasa Inuzuka from Don Murasame's assault.

It is revealed to her later on that "Naoki Shiina" is actually Haruka Kitou, specifically a version of herself from an alternate future. The Haruka of that future has grown tired of her role as Oni Sister, and used her Kibi - Points to travel to the past, where her manga career is at its peak. Her wish, however, results in a space - time distortion so she ends up in the prime Haruka's timeline. Future Haruka's actions here are the reason behind prime Haruka's accusations of plagiarism. While unhappy and angry at her future self's confession at first, Haruka is ultimately able to make peace with her before the latter travels back to the future. Future Haruka leaves behind a manga before going away, which proves instrumental later on when Taro and Tsubasa has trouble finding the entrance to the Forest of Slumber.

By the end of the series, Haruka and Sonoza have essentially become an "Editor - writer" duo. Sonoza's two comrades Sonoi and Sonoshi have also joined the Donbrothers, effectively putting a stop to either sides' conflicts. After the final battle against Sonona and Sonoya, Taro loses his memory as Don Momotaro and leaves the team. Haruka and Sonoza use her time with the Donbrothers to create an entirely new manga series, chronicling their adventures together. The manga is a hit, saving Haruka's reputation and relaunching her career. The whole team (sans Taro) attend her award ceremony in the final episode.

Donbrothers vs Zenkaiger[]

After the success of her Donbrothers manga, Haruka and Sonoza have become accomplished personalities in the industry. Nevertheless, Jiro's leadership has dampened the team's morale so much that she wishes to quit. Even Taro's return cannot convince her to think otherwise. This changes once she has to bear witness to Taro's death after having to fight Kikaiki alone, which motivates her to become Oni Sister again.

Once Taro has come back to life thanks to Sonoi's efforts, Haruka helps her team defeat Kikaiki and Kashiwa Mochi World. She keeps working as a manga author afterwards.

Personality[]

As the youngest of the team, Haruka is a bit childish, sometimes having fits if she is bored, upset or frustrated. She also is, at first, hesitant to be a hero due to the fear and anxiety of witnessing monster attacks. Her fury can be quite scary, able to terrify others into avoiding upsetting her. Even the normally stoic and level - headed Kaito backs down when he sees her in such a state.

She is also shown to be jealous of other young women if they possess qualities she doesn’t have. Despite this, Haruka can also be helpful and kind to her friends. While dismissive of Taro at first due to his personality, she has grown to care about him, to the point of being ready to face potential death to bring him back to life. Although she craves her old life as a respected manga author, she chooses to let go of that opportunity upon seeing how her replacement cannot cope with her own misfortunes as well as she does.

Haruka's young age belies her mental fortitude. Although she does feel hurt upon being wrongfully branded a plagiarist, she eventually is able to take everything in stride and not give up her dream of becoming a respected manga author. In fact, Haruka has begun to treat "plagiarist" as something of an affectionate nickname whenever being called as such by her friends at school, no longer taking it as personally as she used to in the beginning. Her experience gained by staying with the Donbrothers instead of abandoning them ultimately comes around, as she translates her adventures into the plot of her new manga, which has successfully reinvented her career.
