Synopsis[]
Ravi resorts to drastic measures when Smash accidentally discovers a closely guarded secret.
Plot[]
At Grid Battleforce, Nate is about to head home when Ravi comes in and informs the sicentist that he is going to stay late to work on his Beast-X Saber to work on his secret hobby: artwork. He paints as he talks to Roxy’s sleeping body, as it’s the only thing that makes him feel close to her again. Suddenly, Smash walks in and sees Ravi painting. Nervous that he's been discovered, Ravi immediately becomes defensive and has Smash enter his program mode to power him down, before Ravi erases his recent memories so no one can know about his hobby. After hiding his painting materials, he reboots Smash, who is unable to remember what happened when he entered Nate's lab. Ravi suggests to his Beast Bot that he do something fun and leaves. Suddenly, Smash has a strange urge to paint, and starts painting the counters of Nate's lab, where he realizes he needs more space.
In the park, Ben and Betty are riding their X-Bikes when they see a crowd of people watching Smash a mural on a wall. Surprised that he is out of the base, the siblings manage to disperse the crowd and claim that Smash is just a painting robot in its testing phase, which they believe. Ben and Betty tell Smash that he needs permission to leave the base and to paint on the walls, but the Beast Bot tells them he feels inspired to paint. Betty calls Commander Shaw on her Wrist Comm about the situation and tells Ben that the Rangers are coming. They try to scrub off the paint with some rags, but are unsuccessful. They see a nearby fire hose and try to wash off the paint, but the force from the water send them backwards where they roll down a hill and land in the river.
The Rangers arrive at the park and see Smash painting as Ben and Betty return, who inform their friends that Smash was like this when they got there. Nate notes that Smash shouldn't be so into painting, unless someone reprogrammed him, where Ravi pretends to not know anything about. Suddenly, a Robotron called Turbotron appears in front of the Rangers, along with a morphed Blaze and Roxy. The Rangers morph and fight the avatars, but are blasted by Roxy. She orders Turbotron to capture Smash, as she and Blaze hold the Rangers off while the Robotron grabs the Beast Bot. Devon uses his cheetah speed to push Turbotron off of Smash, while Zoey, Nate, and Steel battle against the avatars. Devon orders Ravi to take Smash back to the base, which he does. Turbotron calls for the Tronics to engage Devon while he flies after Ravi and Smash. Devon calls Ravi and warns him of the incoming Robotron.
Ravi and Smash hide in an old warehouse until their transport arrives. However, Turbotron finds them and activates his chest turbine to try and pull Smash towards him. Ravi tries to use that to his advantage to get close enough to him, but Turbotron sees this and reverses the air flow to blow Ravi away. He increases the air flow and Ravi can't hold on much longer, but Smash steps in front of Ravi and shields him from the wind blast as he's too heavy to blow away. Ravi then uses his Beast-X Blaster to destroy Turbotron's chest turbine, stopping the wind blast before finishing off the Robotron with his Beast-X Cannon. The other Rangers meet up with Ravi and Smash just as their transport SUVs arrive, so they head back to base.
In the Cyber Dimension, Scrozzle is working on the Beast Power upgrade for either Blaze or Roxy, and places the 3 Data Chips Roxy collected on a holder and shrinks it, thus completing the upgrade. While marveling in his genius to create such an advanced upgrade, a robot appears behind him and calls for him. The appearance of the robot frightens Scrozzle, who demands that he hand over the Fury Cells that Scrozzle stole from him. Scrozzle tries to defend himself but then throws Blaze and Roxy under the bus by telling the robot that they used up his Fury Cells. The robot believes Scrozzle's lie and punches the avatars into the wall and chases after them before Evox appears and stops him. Scrozzle introduces the avatars and Evox to Vargoyle, the robot that Scrozzle was hiding in the Cyber Dimension from. He was a creation of Scrozzle’s long ago, and explains that the two of them found the Fury Cells and was corrupted by the power of them and turned against his creator. Evox is interested in Vargoyle and wants him to work for him and offers him a deal: if Vargoyle can prove his strength by fighting the Rangers, he’ll be rewarded with Scrozzle's data upgrade stemming from their collection of the Rangers' Beast Powers, which shocks Blaze and Roxy. Vargoyle agrees and is pleased that Scrozzle and him are partners again before teleporting away. Blaze and Roxy feel betrayed and angrily ask their master why he would offer the upgrade to a stranger when he initially promised that it would go to one of them. The cyber snake tells his avatars that he said it would go to his strongest servants and that is not either of them.
At Grid Battleforce, Ravi and Smash are cleaning up the paint the Beast Bot used on the lab counter, with him still confused as to why he has suddenly started painting. Commander Shaw arrives with the other Rangers to figure out why Smash has become obsessed with painting. Nate hooks Smash up to his computer and puts him in program mode to investigate. He discovers that Smash's interface systems have been corrupted, which means the Rangers can't use the Wheeler Zord. Commander Shaw urges Nate to fix Smash so they can use his Zord. Nate also figures out that someone tampered with Smash's program, where Ravi admits it’s his fault, and confesses his painting hobby to the team, which surprises them. Ravi then shows his artwork to the Rangers, and says Smash saw him painting and panicked, so he tried to erase his memories, but also hit some other buttons as well. The Rangers are impressed by his artwork, which he appreciates. Ravi admits he keeps it a secret because he doesn’t want his mom to know, who thinks artwork is nothing more than a distraction, as they saw when Smash was painting.
The Commander's assistant calls Devon's Wrist Comm and informs the Rangers of a break-in at a Morph-X factory warehouse in Sector Delta 1-3. Nate tells the Rangers to go ahead while he stays behind to fix Smash. A cloaked Vargoyle is seen filling a barrel of Morph-X, when the Rangers arrive. He pulls out a blaster and aims it at them, but misses them completely. The Rangers then morph and start to fight him, but he cowardly contacts Scrozzle to help him and get them off his back. Scrozzle knows that Vargoyle is just pretending to be weak as the robot likes to play with his enemies, before he raises a Beta Model Gigadrone and transports it to Coral Harbor, becoming Turbodrone. The Commander informs Devon of the incoming Gigadrone and tells him that they're deploying the Racer Zord and Cruise is on his way. Zoey tells Devon that they can handle Vargoyle while he deals with Turbodrone. Devon jumps into the Racer Zord and convert it into its Battle Mode. Wondering where the Gigadrone is, Cruise detects an object above them and it's Turbodrone, who fires lightning blasts at Devon.
Back at the warehouse, Ravi, Zoey, and Steel are still fighting Vargoyle, where they restrain him with their Cable Strikes. Devon calls Zoey asking for air support to deal with Turbodrone, which she agrees and heads to Devon's location, while Ravi and Steel notice a tied up Vargoyle running away and they chase after him. Turbodrone uses its chest turbine to drain the Morph-X Tower from above, as Zoey and Jax arrive in the Chopper Zord. After dodging Turbodrone's lightning blasts, he blasts the Chopper Zord with a massive wind blast which blows Zoey and her Zord far away, leaving Devon and Cruise to fight the Gigadrone alone.
Back at the base, Nate finishes fixing Smash and powers him up, who asks where Ravi is. Nate tells him Ravi is on a mission but before he goes to help him, he wants Smash to paint a mural, to which he says a Beast Bot shouldn't paint before leaving to go help Ravi. Nate informs the Rangers that Smash is fully operational again. After cornering Vargoyle, Steel tells Ravi to go help Devon while he interrogates Vargoyle and get information from him about Evox's plan. Seeing that it's just the two of them, Vargoyle drops his act and breaks out of his restraints removes his cloak before viciously attacking Steel, leaving the Silver Ranger confused.
Meanwhile, the Racer Zord is getting pummeled by Turbodrone's blasts, and when Devon and Cruise try to jump super high to reach the Gigadrone, they are unsuccessful. Ravi and Smash arrive in the Wheeler Zord and change into its Gorilla Mode for Devon to use its legs as an extra boost to reach Turbodrone. After Ravi launches Devon into the air, Devon summons the Cheetah Beast Blaster to finish Turbodrone off with a Cheetah Strike. Back at the warehouse, Steel tries his best to fight against Vargoyle, but the sadistic robot overpowers him, causing him to demorph, where he notices that Steel's a robotic Ranger. As Vargoyle preapres to blast Steel, a morphed Nate arrives and saves Steel by kicking Vargoyle away. Vargoyle eventually teleports away as the robot got what he needed.
Back in the Cyber Dimension, Blaze and Roxy are spying on Vargoyle talking with Evox, who is impressed with the load of Morph-X that Vargoyle managed to retrieve and rewards him with Scrozzle's data upgrade. The cyber snake instructs Scrozzle to give him the upgrade, with the robot warning Vargoyle that too much fighting will make it run out of Morph-X, but he doesn't care. Scrozzle attaches the device to his arm, giving the sadistic robot the Beast Powers of the Red, Blue, and Yellow Rangers. Vargoyle thanks Evox for the upgrade and promises to use his new powers to destroy the Rangers, with the cyber snake promising the robot that he'll share in his power when he takes over the Morphin Grid. After hearing all this and seeing that Vargoyle got the data upgrade when they did the work for it, Blaze and Roxy secretly conspire to work together to take Vargoyle down and state that his time on top will not last long.
At the park, the Rangers, Ben, and Betty are cleaning up Smash’s painting, where Ravi apologizes to Smash for erasing his memories. Smash tells Ravi that he would never do anything to hurt him and tells him that he's known about Ravi's painting hobby for a few months, but he never told Commander Shaw to protect Ravi. Ravi learns that Smash is a true friend, who had his back all along and gives him a hug as thanks, something he's never done before. He tells Smash that he's happy that he can now share his art with all his friends, hopes his mom never finds out, but Smash assures him that his mom might change her mind about it one day. Betty goes to take a break and accidentally flings two buckets of soap in the air, both of which land on Ben and Betty, making everyone laugh.

Errors[]
- When the Racer Zord was transforming into its battle mode, the footage was flipped.
- It also occurs in Go-Busters.
- It seems Steel is using the Beast-X Morpher instead of the Striker Morpher during the fight with Vargoyle.
- An Alpha Model Gigadrone is seen being transported instead of a Beta Model when Scrozzle was creating Turbodrone.
Notes[]
- Blaze calls Smash Vincent Van Gorilla when he and Roxy see him painting. This is a direct reference to the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh , who painted The Starry Night and more infamously, cut off his ear.
