Goldar is a gold monster created by Rita Repulsa to take the Zeo Crystal and battle against the Power Rangers.

Character History

Goldar

Goldar was created by Rita Repulsa in the Cenozoic period using her ability to fashion rocks or gold into monsters. His main purpose is to extract the Zeo Crystal from Earth's surface. However, doing so would destroy Earth. Goldar is destroyed and scattered when Zordon, the original Red Ranger orders Alpha 5 to direct a meteor at him and Rita, and ends up buried beneath Angel Grove, to become a gold mine under small mountains surrounding the area.

Rita returns millions of years later, rejuvenated. She uses her power to bring Goldar back and battle the Rangers with it. She tries to add her power to his to battle the Rangers but they are eventually defeated, with Goldar incapacitated.

Arsenal

• Goldar can reform with the help of Rita Repulsa. Also with her 'on board' he can fashion weapons like maces and swords.

Notes

Portrayal

• Unlike the TV series, Goldar is not a fully sentient alien, but is rather a golden monster created solely for extracting the Zeo Crystal. He bears a resemblance to the Megazord and to some degree functions as Rita's Zord.
