This article is about a changer in Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger and Avataro Sentai Donbrothers |
The Transformation Gun Geartlinger (変身銃ギアトリンガー Henshin Jū Giatoringā) is the main transformation device and sidearm of the Zenkaigers. Modeled after a hand cranked Gatling gun, the Geartlinger is able to fire either semiauto blasts or full auto by cranking the handle. It can also be used as a melee weapon via pistol-whipping in opportune moments.
History[]
The Geartlingers were developed by Isao Goshikida and his wife Mitsuko Goshikida, in the advancement of the upcoming invasion of the Kikaitopia Dynasty Tojitendo in the human world. After Tojitendo eventually invaded, they were put into use by their son Kaito Goshikida, who became one of the new Sentai team members and eventually recruited 4 Kikainoids as additional teammates. All five would soon begin repelling the invasion.
According to Secchan, only five Geartlingers were made by the Goshikida family. TV STORY-First Kai! Red Challenge! Zenkaigers' Complete Destruction?!
For some currently unknown reason, an alternate universe version of Kaito Goshikida had a Geartlinger as part of his arsenal so that he could use it as part of his actions of secretly giving aid to the Donbrothers such as using it to transform into Zenkaizer Black as well as being able to summon a copy of JuranTyranno in order for said copy to combine with Don Momotaro's Superbike Enya Rideon so that both machines in question could form DonZenkaiOh.

After transforming, the Geartlingers can be loaded with other Sentai Gears, allowing the Zenkaigers to use the special abilities of the respective past Sentai team.
After enlarging, the Kikainoid Zenkaigers can summon a giant version of the Geartlinger by flipping their gears to the Kikai Side while enlarged. This facilitates the Geartlinger Bazooka finisher, which destroys the enemy by firing energy shots through a series of gear portals. The attack also works to take out multiple large enemies, such as the Geartozinger's giant robo manifestations. To fire it however, the Geartlinger Bazooka requires a large Sentai Gear as ammo.
By cranking the handle and pulling the trigger simultaneously, the Gearlinger's barrels can general an energy blade which can be used as a bayonet. However, this ability is never utilized by the core Zenkaigers, only being used by Zenkai Red and Zenkaizer Black, derivatives of Zenkaizer.
Summoned Manifestations[]
Combination[]
- "Zenkai Gattai!"
- ―ZenkaiOh combination announcement after pressing the trigger[src]
To combine any of the Kikanoid Zenkaigers, Zenkaizer flips his Sentai Gear in his Geartlinger and activates it with its Kikai Side exposed. While this method usually enlarges the Kikainoid members, Zenkaizer is the main exception, as his Sentai Gear instead initiates a ZenkaiOh combination by manifesting a giant version of himself, which then manipulates the Mecha to join together. As seen in episode 8, the Kikainoid Zenkaigers simply have to be giant to combine.
Finishing Strike[]

- "Kikai! Super Zenkai Time!"
- ―Kikai side finisher activation announcement after turning the handle[src]
- "Go-Go! Go-Go!"

To finish an opponent, a Zenkaiger simply pulls the trigger before cranking the handle, charging a final shot before firing it by pulling the trigger once again. The group finisher is the Zenkai Finish Buster, in which a group of the Zenkaigers fires supercharged energy blasts at the opponent before a large version of the team symbol crashes down on it and explodes, resulting in its destruction. This same method is used by Zenkaizer to initiate a ZenkaiOh finisher.
Controller[]
After combining the Mecha, the Geartlinger is placed on a console in front of Zenkaizer with its front legs flipped down.
Other Uses[]
- Energy Extraction: Zenkaizer Black's Geartlinger can be used to syphon energy from certain individuals by cranking the handle behind the individual in question. These extracted energies usually take a form of liquified multi-colored chemicals with supernatural properties, which are used to revive the bed-ridden Taro, granting him the ability to transform into GolDon Momotaro. Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
The Geartlinger is voiced by Lenne Hardt[1]
Notes[]
- The melody of the transformation standby music are remixes of Susume! Gorenger and Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, the opening and ending theme songs of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger.
- The barrel of the gun has five colors: Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, and Pink; reminiscing the colors of the first Sentai, Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. This is the most prominent color palette of all Super Sentai teams.
- The name of the Geartlinger is a portmanteau of the words "gear" (「ギア」 gia), "tori" (「鳥」 bird) and "gatlinger" (「ガトリング砲」 gatoringu gan).
- The toy version of the Geartlinger reads the Twokaizer Gear as a new number. This does not occur with the Memorial Edition Geartlinger, which properly recognizes and has the corresponding sounds for the gear.
- The Geartlinger is the first Sentai Transformation Device to be used regularly in two consecutive series.
- A blue triceratops-themed blaster resembling a Geartlinger is seeing being used by Billy Cranston in the second issue of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II.
