This article is about a/an broadcaster in the Power Rangers franchise. |
Fox Kids was a children's television block, subsidiary of the Fox Broadcasting Company's American children's programming division and brand name from September 8, 1990 until September 7, 2002. The block was dissolved in 2002 during the run of Power Rangers Wild Force as a result of the buyout between Fox and the Walt Disney Corporation. Prior to closing, the network lived to be the longest running children's television block/network, behind Nickelodeon, and managed to have high ratings throughout its run.
Among the popular children series aired, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was the first of ten seasons of the Power Rangers franchise to air on the block and one of their strongest performers in the ratings. In 1996, Fox Kids merged with Haim Saban's Saban Entertainment Inc., which produced Power Rangers, to form Fox Kids Worldwide Inc., now ABC Family Worldwide Inc.. Some of its programming eventually began to air on the Fox Family Channel, which soon became ABC Family.
Internationally, Fox Kids was a dedicated channel, which survived until 2005, at which point it was rebranded as Jetix and then Disney XD.
