Final Face-Off is the fourteenth episode of the third season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
The eighth Zeo Serial Short aired before a later airing of the episode.
Synopsis[]
When five of the Power Rangers visit the Angel Grove museum, they learn of the existence of the legendary Face Stealer; a creature that can steal people's faces with his tongue. Hearing this, Rita goes against Lord Zedd's wishes and has Rito steal it and unleashes the creature to terrorize Earth.
Plot[]
As part of a search for a school project, Tommy, Billy, Adam and Aisha are visiting an exhibit at a local museum depicting Kahmala ancient culture. There, they meet Azina, the cultural liaison of the Angel Grove Museum who asks them if they have read about the Face Stealer legend, which Billy and Adam promptly detail knowledge about the legend and tell about a mythological monster that terrorized the people of Kahmala by stealing their faces and their souls during the fourth full moon of the year. Azina shows the Rangers an urn that supposedly contains the creature trapped spirit, as well as some masks used by the ancient people of Kahmala to seal it.
Impressed with the legend and knowing that the fourth full moon of the year is precisely on that day, Rita Repulsa decides to free the Face Stealer. She sends Rito Revolto, Baboo, and Squatt to steal the urn in the museum. The Rangers see Rito and the others at the entrance to the museum and confront them by transforming into their ninja forms to fight them, but Rito keeps them busy with a group of Tenga and succeeds in stealing the urn. Rita Repulsa frees Face Stealer from his confinement and sends him to Angel Grove to attack the city. The Rangers are then sent to fight the monster but it turns out to be a very strong opponent. Initially the monster steals the faces of Bulk and Skull after they interfere during the fight and soon after steals the faces of Adam and Aisha, forcing the Rangers to retreat from the battlefield.
At the Command Center, Billy remembers Kahmala masks and along with the other Rangers return to the museum and ask Azina to borrow the masks, informing them that Face Stealer has been released. Azina then authorizes the Rangers to take the masks. Back in combat, the Rangers surprise Face Stealer by using Kahmala masks and thus manage to block all the creature's attempts to steal their faces. The monster's spell reflects off the masks and backfires on the Face Stealer himself which causes him to unintentionally release all the faces he stole, including those of Bulk, Skull, Adam, and Aisha.
Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd transform Face Stealer into a giant, and during combat with the Ninja MegaFalconzord the monster proves to be quite resistant to the Megazord's attacks. Anticipating this possibility, Zordon suggests that the Rangers invoke the power of Titanus in combat to form the Ninja Ultrazord and so the Rangers manage to defeat the Face Stealer and trap him back in the urn.

Errors[]
- When Face Stealer steals Bulk, and Skull's face, if the viewers look closely, for a brief moment a string can be seen on Skull's head. Persumingly used to hold the white patch where his face was.
- The Ninja Ultrazord transformation sequence features the Crane Ninjazord with a darker pink stripe in the center of it.
- Shots of the Ninja Megazord toy used for the Ninja Ultrazord footage showed the Bear Ninjazord was missing the bar it normally held in its mouth.
Notes[]
- This episode aired the same day as VR Troopers (Season 2) episode 12, The Negative Factor.
- This is the only appearance of the Ninja Ultrazord.
- The Ninja Ultrazord footage is used from toys as the configuration was never seen in Kakuranger, as Titanus was from Zyuranger.
- The Ninja Ultrazord features the chest portion of the Dragonzord front and center, despite the Dragonzord not being a part of the combination. The toy version of the combination also features the Dragonzord's tail, though this isn't seen in the show.
- The original draft title for this episode was "Face the Music".[1]
- Rajia Baroudi, who played Azina in this episode, would later return as Delphine during the Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers arc.
- The Ninja Rangers pose is similar to the Gorengers and Goggle V.
- If the story of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers is overlaid with real life events, this episode most likely took place on Saturday, April 15, that being the real-life date of the fourth full moon of 1995.
- Tommy's line at the start of the episode that Kimberly came to the museum during the week can support that this episode takes place on a Saturday.
