A Date with Danger is the twenty-third episode of Power Rangers in Space. This episode marks the first time that Astronema went on a date.
Synopsis[]
When Astronema is attacked by one of her own monsters, Zhane comes to her rescue, and the two find that they are strongly attracted to each other, even arranging a date. But, Ecliptor's latest monster known as the Horror Bull prove to be a distraction, keeping the Power Rangers busy, and delaying Zhane's arrival at the site of his and Astronema's date.
Plot[]
At an Angel Grove plaza, the Rangers confront Horror Bull while Zhane battles Astronema and Destructoid. Zhane taunts Astronema causing her to fire her weapon wildly and dodges her blasts until the monster is in her line of sight, accidentally blasting him. Furious, Destructoid turns on her, knocking her unconscious. Zhane calls his Galaxy Glider and flies off with Astronema, saving her from the attack. As the rest of the team defeat Horror Bull with the Spiral Saber Booster Mode and Quadroblaster, an “Information Crystal” used to gather data on the Rangers’ weapons is sent back to the Dark Fortress, unbeknownst to the Rangers.
Astronema awakens in the woods to find that Zhane is attempting to help her recover by making food for her. Although shocked, she tries the food and doesn’t like it. She then approaches the Silver Ranger from behind declaring that she could destroy him if she wanted to, however, he seems unintimidated and shows an earnest belief that she will not. He sticks a marshmallow to the end of her staff, takes it, and toasts the snack in the fire for her to try. She likes it and although this has momentarily disarmed her, she reminds him that they are still enemies. Just before she teleports away, she gives a sincere thank you to him for rescuing her.
As the rest of the Rangers are lounging on the Astro Megaship, they decide to go see a romantic movie to the reluctance of the male Rangers. Cassie and Ashley then head for Zhane’s quarters to invite him.
Now returned to the Dark Fortress, Astronema sits gazing out of a window distracted by Zhane’s kindess and her interaction with him. Ecliptor approaches her attempting to explain that the Horror Bull’s information crystal has successfully gathered the data on the Rangers’ weapons and asks for further instructions but she dismisses him instead of listening.
Cassie and Ashley enter Zhane’s room as he lie there staring at a picture of Astronema to ask if he would like to go see the movie with everyone else. Although reluctant to do so, the girls drag him out of his room anyway.
Ecliptor brings Astronema food in an attempt to see what might be troubling her. She refuses to admit to anything and requests to be left alone. Before Ecliptor makes his exit, he informs her that the Rangers are currently at a movie theater and asks if she would like for him to send the Horror Bull to attack; she tells him no.
She heads down to Earth as the Rangers depart the theater and disguises herself as an average blonde Earth female. Zhane stops to admire the poster for the movie and daydreams about him and Astronema romantically embracing each other. Amid his reverie, the disguised Astronema intentionally bumps into him, dropping her books. As they pick up her belongings, Zhane nearly recognizes her but dismisses the thought before leaving to meet up with the others. In his hastiness, Zhane does not realize that he dropped his picture of Astronema which she finds and is elated. As Zhane links up with his teammates, a small explosion occurs and an arrow strikes near Zhane. Seeing this, he retrieves it and sees an attached note from Astronema inviting him to meet her at the campfire from earlier at five o’ clock.
Ecliptor equips a new Horror Bull with the information crystal containing the data they need to render the Rangers’ weapons useless. He then sends Elgar to inform Astronema but she is not there and although concerned for her, Ecliptor is confident that she would want them to commence the attack and sends Horror Bull without her permission.
As the Rangers discuss the film, Alpha 6 contacts them regarding Horror Bull’s rampage, and they confront him in a rock quarry. Using the information crystal, however, the monster creates an energy shield to deflect attacks from the Rangers’ weapons. At the same time, Astronema sits at the campfire with a picnic waiting for Zhane while he is on the Astro Megaship preparing for the date.
Ecliptor arrives and tauntingly tells the Rangers that their weapons are useless against the Horror Bull. Andros does not believe it they use Spiral Saber Booster Mode and Quadroblaster Combo against the Horror Bull. However, the attacks are ineffective and are reflected right back at them.
Alpha 6 is horrified to see this from the Astro Megaship and catches Zhane attempting to sneak by the bridge. The automaton begs Zhane to help the others and shows him their predicament. Despite expressing reluctance as he does not want to be late for his date with Astronema, Zhane agrees to go and help his friends. He returns to his cabin to retrieve his Digimorpher. Zhane arrives on the battlefield just in time to stun Horror Bull and Ecliptor, preventing the Rangers’ destruction.
Zhane takes on the Horror Bull by himself and manages to break through the monster’s shield as his Super Silverizer was not scanned by the previous crystal. Andros overwhelms Ecliptor using his Battlizer, forcing him to retreat. Zhane then overpower the Horror Bull and lands several powerful attacks forcing the monster to grow. At that point, Zhane quickly rushes away from the battle as he is late for his date with Astronema who has been growing more and more frustrated at his tardiness and the Rangers call on the Astro Megazord. They defeat the monster with the Astro Delta Megazord’s Flying Power Punch.
As Zhane arrives, Astronema feels as though he stood her up and zaps the roses which he bought for her. He tries to explain that he would not have been late had she not sent a monster to attack. She claims that she did not send a monster, says that she never wants to see him again, and teleports away, much to Zhane's heartbreak.
Back on the Astro Megaship, each of the Rangers tries to cheer up a disheartened Zhane but none of their attempts work. While Zhane is leaving the bridge, on the Dark Fortress, Astronema crumples up her photo of Zhane, but immediately uncrumples it, hinting that she still has feelings for him.

- When Zhane summons his Galaxy Glider, audio of him calling for his Super Silverizer is used instead.
- Two Quantrons came up behind Destructoid but didn't try to restrain him after Zhane saves Astronema. Scared or not, there is no reason to believe that they wouldn't have reacted.
Notes[]
- Two versions of this episode were filmed, as scenes from the alternate version were shown on the "next time on" and "previously on" segments in episodes surrounding this one. The most notable change is that Astronema's demeanor towards Zhane is a lot tougher.
- The title of the movie in this episode, Star-Crossed Lovers, will be brought up again during the Lost Galaxy episode "Double Duty".
- In this episode, Astronema disguises herself as a normal blonde woman, which is later revealed to be her true form as Karone.
- This episode shares the title of a Dino Super Charge episode.
