Tsuyoshi Kijino (雉野 つよし Kijino Tsuyoshi) is Kiji Brother (キジブラザー Kiji Burazā), the Pink Ranger of the Donbrothers.[1] He briefly turns into a car-themed Hitotsuki called Gekisouki (激走鬼 Gekisōki, lit. Racing Demon) possessing a Carranger Sentai Gear out of a desire to make those who hurt his wife pay. Sonoi later briefly turns him into a sun-themed Hitotsuki called Taiyoki (太陽鬼 Taiyōki, lit. Sun Demon), possessing a Sun Vulcan Avataro Gear out of a desire for Miho to stay by his side. He later turns into a cloud/animal-themed Hitotsuki called Hyakujuuki (百獣鬼 Hyakujūki, lit. Hundred Beasts Demon) [2], possessing a Gaoranger Avataro Gear out of a desire for Miho to come back. He later evolves into Hyakujuuking (百獣鬼ング Hyakujūkingu).[3]
Tsuyoshi is 33 years old at the beginning of Donbrothers. He is the eldest member of the Donbrothers team.
History
Tsuyoshi is married to Miho Kijino, and works for Pheasant Consultant.
Gekisouki Incident
Gekisouki's aura forming on Tsuyoshi
After finding out that his wife Miho had almost gotten into a motorcycle accident, Tsuyoshi began having thoughts of vengeance against the people who try to hurt his wife. After the defeat of Kousokuki, Tsuyoshi visited his wife again at the hospital, and swore to himself that anyone who will harm her will pay. Gekisouki was also briefly shown. 
TV STORY-Don 14: Substitute Jiro
Tsuyoshi walks to his apartment upon exiting the elevator, only to see Tsubasa waiting for him. They both go inside to talk over tea, with Tsubasa telling Tsuyoshi that he found Natsumi. Tsubasa then notices Tsuyoshi seems troubled and asks what is wrong, with the latter talking about how Miho was hurt, but reassured Tsubasa everything is fine because she is coming home today from the hospital.
He is glad Tsubasa found Natsumi, but Tsubasa says she acted strangely, as she didn’t recognize him. Tsuyoshi wonders if something is going on with her and Tsubasa says he is going to search for her again. Tsuyoshi offers to help, asking if he has any pictures of Natsumi, but the only photo Tsubasa took of her on his phone was a digitally edited one with her face altered to resemble a cute anime dog girl. Tsuyoshi says that isn’t much help since he can’t see Natsumi’s real face.
After Tsubasa leaves, Tsuyoshi is all alone and looking at his wedding picture, thinking about Miho in the hospital. His anger rises at the thought of people harming his wife and his negative emotions are warped into vengeance as he becomes Gekisouki.
He sprints at super speed and becomes obsessed with traffic safety, using his Hitotsuki powers to make vehicles and the people operating them disappear to clear the roads. Shinichi and Haruka arrive transformed to fight but are unaware Gekisouki is Tsuyoshi, who beats them down with his speedy attacks. Jiro arrives to aid the two Donbrothers with his “Super Dragon Bomber”, lifting a heavy boulder and throwing it, only for Gekisouki to run away and Shinichi gets hit on the head with the falling boulder and passes out unconscious.
The next morning, Tsuyoshi is talking with Tsubasa on the phone as he sits down for a home cooked breakfast from Miho, who was discharged from the hospital yesterday. Tsubasa tells Tsuyoshi he cannot find Natsumi, he has searched the whole city for her, but he will not give up. Tsuyoshi sincerely wishes him luck and hangs up.
Miho suddenly feels slight pain from her head bump, which triggers a panicked reaction from Tsuyoshi who asks if she is alright and suggests that she should have stayed in bed. Miho tries to calm him down by saying her head just hurts a little and it is nothing to fuss over as she cooks some sausages on the stove. Thinking she is lying to prevent him from worrying and is actually suffering in pain, Tsuyoshi gets angry and declares vengeance again, becoming Gekisouki out of her sight and leaving Miho confused as to where he went as she finished cooking their breakfast.
During Tsuyoshi’s rampage as Gekisouki, he crosses paths with Tsubasa, who originally was still searching for Natsumi until he showed up. Tsubasa becomes Inu Brother but leaves when Saru Brother and Oni Sister arrive to the battlefield to continue his search. Shinichi is in a melancholic daze and unable to focus on the fight as he still tries to think of a haiku, which Haruka snaps him out of as she points to Gekisouki entering a parking garage.
When both of them arrive inside, they find Tsuyoshi in a cold sweat and ask him if he saw the Hitotsuki. He says he did see him and changes into Gekisouki, much to their shock, with Haruka wondering what turned Tsuyoshi into a Hitotsuki. In a frenzied state, Gekisouki doesn’t recognize his friends and attacks them, with both Donbrothers reluctant to harm Tsuyoshi and Haruka gets knocked out of her wheelchair and is unable to move.
Jiro arrives and says that the time has finally arrived according to the voice in his head, his true power will finally awaken. The slot machine appears from an invisible door and the four eyes flash, becoming sunglasses, an Avataro Gear and a spear called the Ryukonogeki. The sunglasses attach themselves to Jiro’s face and he Avatar Changes into Don Doragoku. The new Ranger fends off Gekisouki until he retreats, with Haruka and Shinichi pleading for Tsuyoshi to come back.
Later, Gekisouki races along, erasing more cars until Sonoi in armored form cuts him down. Tsuyoshi is weakened and begins to dissolve, with Jiro as Don Doragoku grabbing onto him before he fades completely and both teleport to the prison dimension.
Upon arrival, Jiro sees hundreds of Hitotsuki victims imprisoned in cubes while searching for Taro. He finds him and tries using the dragon fire of the Ryukonogeki to propel their cage towards him, but can’t steer in this dimension. Tsuyoshi wakes up and freaks out, with no memory of how he ended up here or who the strange Ranger he is with is. Jiro says there isn’t time for explanations and pleads for him to become Kiji Brother, he needs his wings to rescue Taro. Tsuyoshi quickly changes and spreads his wings, turning them into sails to steer the “cube ship” towards their destination, the prison cubes collide and all three of them are ejected back into the human world.
Gekisouki defeated by Don Doragoku and Don Momotaro
Once they're back, Tsuyoshi screams in pain as he reverts back into Gekisouki, with Taro promising to save him. Both he and Jiro Avatar Change and the two Rangers tag team battle Gekisouki, with Don Momotaro giving his approval to his new companion. The two purify Tsuyoshi with a combination weapon attack, who realizes all the horrible things he did as a Hitotsuki and cries, begging forgiveness from Taro as Jiro checks on him.
Taro collects the purified Carranger Sentai Gear, which becomes the Carranger Avataro Gear upon him picking it up. TV STORY-Don 15: Welcome Back Taro
Taiyoki Incident
After Taro lost to Sonoi, the rest of the Donbrothers fretting in Cafe Donbura as Taro has gone missing. Haruka looked for him at Shirokuma Express, but the staff had not seen Taro, which is concerning since he never misses work unless he gives his coworkers advance notice that he can’t come in. This has all of the Shirokuma staff worried that something has happened to him. Shinichi is concerned that Sonoi could have defeated Taro, Tsuyoshi and Haruka don’t believe that and remain hopeful that Taro will come back safely to them. Shinichi says that would be ideal, but cannot shake the feeling that something is wrong.
Later, Haruka and the others look for Kaito in the front of the cafe and Kaito had to see what they want but forgot to take off his gown, rubber gloves and face mask. When inquired about it, he tries to tell the truth about the surgery but Haruka thinks this is some kind of prank and they all laugh at him. Kaito says he might close the cafe early today, but Tsuyoshi informs him that they are meeting with the Noto and need the cafe to stay open. The three Noto generals enter and both parties sit down, with Kaito serving all of them but is unnerved when Sonoi asks for kibi dango. While they all enjoy their food and drinks, Kaito resumes operating on Taro.
Sonoi gets right to the point and proclaims that he has defeated Taro and demands that the Donbrothers become his companions now. The team is in shock and then rejects Sonoi’s claims of beating Taro in a fight. Sonoi tries to rebuttal their claims but ends up choking on one of his kibi dango. Kaito has finished opening up Taro’s chest cavity and is about to extract something with the forceps, but he is called back to the front of the cafe to give Sonoi a drink and dislodges the food from his windpipe. Haruka asks if Kaito believes Taro is dead, to which he responds that he feels the latter is alive at the moment.
Sonoi wonders why they all trust that stranger’s words, to which Haruka says Kaito is just a “reliable man of mystery.” Sonoza asks Haruka about her manga writing, to which she says she is still in a slump. He encourages her by saying that it is more of an opportunity to experiment and find out what works.
Shinichi asks that even if they believe that Taro is dead, why would any of them ever consider joining the Noto? Sonoi says it is because they have power and with intense training, they will make fine companions for him. Shinichi wants answers about the Donbrothers powers, but Sonoi won’t divulge anything about it. Sonoza gets irritated by all the talk and insists that they just fight the Donbrothers now and if they lose, they will serve “Lord Sonoi” forever. Sonoi finds that too boring and decides to make a game out of it.
Tsuyoshi suggests some game ideas, including a peanut throwing contest. Sonoi likes the idea and the rules are that the players have to throw a peanut and the other players have to catch it with their mouths. Sonoi will answer any questions they have if they win and if they lose they have no choice but to be his companions. Shinichi accepts the rules and goes first, with Sonoi trying to cheat using the virtual environment. As Saru Brother, Shinichi successfully catches the peanut in his mouth. As a reward for winning, Sonoi reveals that the Donbrothers powers were developed by the Don Clan, most likely meant to activate once Taro had gained the full extent of his power.
The next game is for everyone to try and remain silent for as long as possible. Haruka is the first one out as she sneezed and is punished by having Sonoi write “Noto” on her forehead with a permanent marker. Tsuyoshi is up for another round, causing Shinichi to automatically lose as he objects to playing the quiet game again and wanted to play something else. He has “Noto” scribbled on his forehead as well. Tsuyoshi is the last one standing in his team and begins round three.
The third round of the quiet game goes on a bit too long and Sonoi gets bored, using hand signals to ask Kaito for pen and paper to request a new game, ending the quiet game on a stalemate for the third round. Kaito suggests an eating contest next, bringing out large plates of curry rice among other things. While all of them are distracted, Kaito changes into Zenkaizer Black again and siphons small portions of energy from everyone in the room using his Geartlinger, changing it into liquids he fills into small glasses. He then shoves a large funnel into Taro’s mouth and makes him guzzle the energy into his body. The aura of a portable shrine surrounds Taro’s body as it becomes supercharged with energy.
Tsuyoshi eventually succumbs to a full stomach and loses the eating contest. He has “Noto” scribbled on his forehead and Sonoi proclaims all of the three Donbrothers to be his companions now. Sononi and Sonoza consider them to be of lower standing than they are and Shinichi protests this as the Donbrothers have stopped their schemes multiple times.
Sonoi suggests a more dangerous game as a test, that all three Donbrothers will have their desires amplified and if they do not turn into Hitotsuki, then they are equals. Noto cannot become Hitotsuki because they have no desire. The three are affected by the attack and begin to succumb to their desires: Shinichi wants to keep his zen way of living, Haruka wants to continue her manga career and Tsuyoshi is still feeling subconsciously insecure about his marriage to Miho. All three of them become the Sun Vulcan themed Hitotsuki, Taiyoki, but a recovered Taro bursts in and manages to snap Shinichi and Haruka out of it and revert them to normal. This shocks Sonoi, who was certain he killed Taro for good this time. Taro says Heaven and Hell have no bonds with him, that makes him as immortal as a phoenix.
With his desires to protect Miho amplified, Tsuyoshi is unable to return to being human on his own and runs away through an invisible door. He races through a valley and is stopped by his teammates, with Taro vowing to return him to normal as many times as needed to help him. Taiyoki proves to be far stronger than Tsuyoshi’s previous Hitotsuki form, summoning a blinding miniature sun and unleashing energy slashes from his hands by channeling Vul Eagle’s sword techniques. The knocked down Ranger trio are overwhelmed but Taro is confident that they will win thanks to the energy given to him. He whistles and a golden phoenix answers his call. He docks the small mechanical bird onto his DonBlaster and the miko begin to dance as Taro calls upon his new power: the armor of GolDon Momotaro.
Haruka is shocked at this turn of events and wonders if she can make a manga out of it, while the Anoni appear to assist Taiyoki. Taro immediately wipes them out in only a few minutes with his enhanced DonBlaster, while Sonoi observes Taro’s new power from a distance. Taro then focuses his powers and creates a peach energy containment construct to hold Taiyoki while he charges up his gun for his final attack: Laughing Peach: Festival’s End. He fires his shot and successfully purifies Tsuyoshi, who is naturally upset about what he did as a Hitotsuki but relieved that he is normal again.
At Cafe Donbura, Tsuyoshi grovels and begs for forgiveness from Taro, who is sternly looking down upon him. Shinichi and Haruka are crying as they try to remove the permanent marker character of “Noto” from each other’s foreheads, upset that try as they might, it isn’t coming off. Taro thinks that they should just leave them there as a punishment/lesson for giving in to the Noto and walks off. Tsuyoshi continues to apologize and cries. TV STORY-Don 33: The Wasshoi Bird
Hyakujuuki Incident
After Miho disappeared once again, Tsuyoshi enter Donbura, demanding Tsubasa to return Miho while ignoring his statements about Miho being a Juto. Taro intervened and confirmed Tsubasa's claim, to which Tsuyoshi refused to believe and left the cafe. Later on, Tsuyoshi tried to search for Miho, but to no avail and his desire of finding Miho turns him into the Gaoranger-themed Hitotsuki, Hyakujuuki.

Haruka and Shinichi are transported and transformed into their ranger forms to face Hyakujuuki, which they deduced was Tsuyoshi. He then suddenly transformed into Hyakujuuking and fired at Saru Brother, Oni Sister and Sonoi, who joined in an attempt to kill the Donbrothers. Without Don Onitaijin or Toradoragonjin, the present part had no way of fighting Hyakujuuking until a giant Avataro Gear summoned
a mysterious mecha, which easily defeated Hyakujuuking and forcing him to revert back into his Hitotsuki form. Sononi and Sonoza arrived to warn Sonoi about Sonoshi's return with Sonogo and Sonoroku, who then appeared and slayed Hyakujuuki. Tsuyoshi reverts back to normal as he's sent back to the dimension of slayed Hitotsuki, much to Haruka's and Shinichi's horror. TV STORY-Don 45: Laughing Village, Rugged Village

Tsuyoshi was later set free along with the taxi driver, Yoshioka, Black Bear, Sakaki and all the other prisoners by Sonoi using the Ring of Forgiveness. He later then joined his Donbrothers companions and the three Noto against Sonoshi, Sonogo and Sonoroku. TV STORY-Don 46: A Natsumi Night's Dream
Personality
Tsuyoshi is a man who lives like he has nothing to lose and while he has no dreams of his own, he does everything he can to support the dreams of his wife, Miho Kijino.[4] Tsuyoshi does have some issues with his confidence, as he sees himself as nothing special and is a bit timid at times. While he is a good worker, he is often pushed around by his boss and due to the misfortune effects of being a Donbrother, his ideas for his company are seen as mediocre at best and not recommended by his superiors.
His lack of self-confidence at one point became full on insecurity, as he felt an ordinary person such as him did not deserve Miho and she was somehow embarrassed of him. He used Kibi Points to be the more assertive, successful man that he assumed she would be proud of, only for his wife to reveal she hated his arrogant behavior and genuinely loves him as he is.
Being around Taro Momoi and his positivity has stirred up motivation in Tsuyoshi, as he wants to change and self-improve, such as doing exercises and trying new things like learning how to polish a hard floor with a rag.
Despite his clumsy and humble persona, Tsuyoshi can be cruel if anyone dare to hurt his wife. On an occasion, he tackled Don Momotaro when he was supposed to purify a Hitotsuki corrupted artist. It gave an opening for Sonoi to kill the artist instead, shocking the rest of the Don Brothers and Tsuyoshi was satisfied with the result, remarking to himself mentally that the world is a better place without people like him and that he would do anything to protect his wife no matter who he has to go up against or what he has to do them. This obsession of retribution for anyone who harms his wife would later consume and slowly turns him into Gekisouki. After being defeated as Gekisouki, he reverts back to his normal personality.
As the story goes on, Tsuyoshi's feelings towards Miho had changed to a somewhat insane obsession as he refuses to learn and accept the truth that Miho is actually a Juto in disguise. He even has no intention to talk about the aforementioned matter in a calm and sensible manner when Inui mistook Miho as his girlfriend and chose to settle things violently with him. Not only is his obsession towards Miho serving as the cause of him turning into a Hitotsuki, once again, he also refuses to accept the fact that there is no real person named Miho to begin with when Tsubasa had mistakenly claimed Miho as Natsumi, his fiance. Tsuyoshi even willingly discards his friendship towards Tsubasa because of this, baiting him to be jailed and passionate enough to hide his sinister smile until his plan had succeeded, only to end up backfiring when Miho herself had pretended to no longer have any memories of her time as his wife as well as demanding the police to arrest him under false charges of harassment and attempting to kidnap her when his persistence had got on her nerves.
As he failed to comprehend what exactly happened to his wife, Tsuyoshi began to show very troubling signs of insanity, such as talking to a random china doll that acts as a "substitute" of Miho and imagining it responding back to his conversations. Fortunately, this particularly brief dark period of insanity seems to have ended when Miho herself had returned to Tsuyoshi's life as well as having "regained" her memories of her life as his wife which had, in turn, caused him to abandon the china doll that he had been using as a "substitute" in favor of his real wife.
While he has no qualms about inflicting lethal injuries upon those who harm his wife, Tsuyoshi does have standards on how far he is willing to go, as he looked at his hands in horror upon realizing that he almost fatally injured Sononi.
Regardless, his love for Miho Kijino was so strong that he had stated out loud that he would become a Hitotsuki as many times as he can until his beloved precious wife finally comes back to him in spite of everyone else telling him the truth that Miho is actually a Juto in disguise. It wasn't until that particular fact was told to him by Taro Momoi, an individual who is truly incapable of lying, that he couldn't deny the undeniable truth any longer. As a result, for a while, he became a crabby and irritable person who would be easily set off by anything involving romantic couples. Then, once he had calmed himself down as well as finally accepting the truth regarding the true nature of his beloved wife, Tsuyoshi decides that in order for him to move on from his feelings of heartbreak, he has to abandon everything that reminds him of his beloved wife. This includes resigning from his job at Pheasant Consultant and moving out of the home that he had once shared with her. Only for him to be reunited with her (Miho) as Natsumi after she broke up with Tsubasa.

Kiji Brother is the form Tsuyoshi takes on in battle. During transformation, his avatar’s legs extend making him taller and enhance the range of his kicking. The suit also is equipped with retractable wings, allowing Tsuyoshi to fly for aerial combat or faster movement.

- Taro Momoi/Don Momotaro: Tsuyoshi had a rookie's start relationship towards Taro, but he starts to respect him after seeing how much Taro put to help others. However, no matter how much he respects Taro, his obsession towards Miho always overwhelms his fear towards Taro. He even ignores Taro when Taro told him to stop the fight with Inui because it is stupid, and also the only one to not revert back from being Taiyoki when Taro appears and scolds the team for doing another stupid thing again.
- Shinichi Saruhara/Saru Brother: Tsuyoshi and Shinichi are going out well for having the same view of team and how to handle a harsh situation.
- Haruka Kito/Oni Sister: Tsuyoshi is marked as a weird and a loser by Haruka on how he looks. Despite already being in the team & knowing each other, Tsuyoshi & Haruka are not close in terms of friendship with each other.
- Tsubasa Inuzuka/Inu Brother: Tsuyoshi has a rookie's start and miraculously the closest relationship with Tsubasa. This is due both are happy to have a lover with the same capability and T&oshi pities Tsubasa for suffering from his frame. However, their friendship is easily torn off by Tsuyoshi when Tsubasa acquires his wife as his lost fiance. Their relationship takes a dark turn when during another conflict over Miho, Tsuyoshi showed willingness to outright kill Tsubasa as Kiji Brother just to have Miho for himself.

- Tsuyoshi Kijino is portrayed by Hirofumi Suzuki (鈴木 浩文 Suzuki Hirofumi).[1] As Kiji Brother, his suit/motion capture actor is Masashi Takada (高田 将司 Takada Masashi).[8] While using his Avatar Changes, his suit actress is Nagisa Tabata (田畑 渚 Tabata Nagisa).[9]
Design
- KijiBrother features a helmet protrusion emulating a narrow plumage of feathers, while the mouthplate is styled after a bird's beak. He also has retractable wings, and extra long legs with clawed boots. Like the other Donbrothers, his visor is styled after sunglasses.
- Gekisouki's design is based on a racecar, his design also references RV Robo.
- Taiyoki's design is based on a sun.
- Hyakujuki's design is based on clouds and animals, referring to Animarium and Power Animals.
- It also slightly resembles the Chimera Org.

Etymology
- His last name contains the kanji for "pheasant" (雉 Kiji).
- Gekisou is Japanese for "Racing" and refers to Gekisou Sentai Carranger.
- Taiyo is Japanese for "Sun" and refers to Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan.
- Hyakuju is Japanese for "Hundred Beasts" and refers to Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger.
- Kijinoki's name could either be derived from Tsuyoshi's surname "Kijino" or from Pheasant Demon (雉の鬼 Kiji no oni)

- Kiji Brother is the first male Sentai Pink Ranger in the franchise.
- He is the first core Sentai member who is already married at the beginning of the series, having been married three months prior to the start of the show.
- Tsuyoshi's birthdate is November 3rd, 1988, the same as his actor.
- Kiji Brother is based on the pheasant from the Momotaro legend, the last animal to join Momotaro on his quest who uses his flight to scout Oni Island and distract the enemy until his comrades land ashore to battle the Oni. However, Kiji Brother is more crane-like, as real pheasants have short legs.
- While Kiji Brother is rendered in CGI in full-body shots, his proportional upper body means that for shots where he is viewed from the waist up, he is depicted with a traditional spandex costume. Full spandex suits would later be made for stage shows.[11]
- Hyakujuki:
- Hyakujuki's torso is repainted from Uchuki, and his head is repainted from Seijuuki.
- Hyakujuki is the last Hitotsuki to be based on a Sentai Team of the Heisei era.
- Hyakajuking is the only Hitotsuking not to fight any of the Donbrothers' mecha, instead falling to the mecha of the team that succeded the Donbrothers.
