Fight Fire With Fire is the sixteenth episode of Power Rangers Super Samurai, the second season of Power Rangers Samurai. It is the first of the five-episode endgame arc. In marks the debut of Jayden's older sister Lauren Shiba as the second Red Samurai Ranger.

Synopsis[]

The Nighlok Fiera unleashes an overwhelming attack which severely injures the Red Ranger. But when he goes down, another Red Ranger takes his place. Which one is the true Red Ranger!? The answer will change the Samurai Power Rangers forever!

Plot[]

Jayden trains at the Shiba house as Mia watches from afar, only to see Mentor Ji receive a letter with the Shiba family crest. Ji shows Jayden the letter, and the latter opens it, realizing it will be time for the other Rangers to learn the truth. Having anticipated this day, Jayden hopes the others will forgive him.

In the Netherworld, Dayu returns to the ship and reunites with Octoroo, who is happy to have someone he can trade insults with. With Master Xandred still recovering at the bottom of the Sanzu River, the two are left to cause enough misery on Earth to repower their leader. Octoroo reveals that he has a plan to take out Jayden, so he does not use the Sealing Symbol against Xandred and summons Fiera. After Fiera and Dayu trade barbs, the latter asks the former to help them take out Jayden. Fiera accepts this request.

On Earth, Octoroo gives Fiera specially crafted Fire Flashers that are designed to inflict damage to Jayden specifically. Octoroo explains that every time Fiera attacks Jayden with them, they will harm him from the inside until he is no more. Fiera’s presence alerts the Rangers, and they make their way to the park. The Rangers morph and fight the Moogers as Fiera watches from afar. Fiera equips herself with the Fire Flashers and shoots at Jayden as he is busy fighting the Moogers. Jayden collapses from the pain and hides behind a tree, only for Fiera to come at him from behind. The other Rangers see this, and Kevin takes a blast for Jayden when he protects the latter, only to feel no aftereffects. The other Rangers surround Jayden and take Fiera’s blasts, who explains what the Fire Flashers does to the Red Ranger. As the Rangers protect Jayden, the latter orders them to stop, as he does not want them harmed for his sake. The Rangers argue that they are a team as they protect Jayden from the Fire Flashers, but they soon get overwhelmed.

Having had enough, Jayden gets back on his feet and activates Super Samurai mode, challenging Fiera to face him. Although Jayden takes a few more blasts, he runs off and returns to the shrine as Fiera confronts him. Fiera fires Jayden from behind, but as the latter demorphs, he fires a powerful blast from the Bullzooka to destroy the former. The Rangers tend to Jayden as Dayu and Octoroo watch from the sidelines. They are confused as to why Jayden was not destroyed as Fiera’s Fire Flashers were supposed to kill the head of the Shiba family, but Octoroo suddenly gets a revelation of what’s going on.

The Rangers check on Jayden as the latter gives Kevin the Black Box so they can fight Fiera in her second life. As Fiera grows, the Rangers summon the Claw Armor Megazord. Fiera proves too much for the Megazord as she teleports around them, and the Zords break apart. As Jayden leans on a pillar, his vision blurs as a woman approaches him. She promises Jayden she will handle Fiera as she pulls out a Samuraizer to morph. As Fiera strikes the downed Zords, the Lion Folding Zord attacks the Nighlok, confusing everyone as Jayden is still on the ground. The mysterious woman, now the Red Ranger, attacks Fiera with the Lion Folding Zord and destroys her with a Pentagonal Fury.

After the battle, the Rangers return to Jayden and take him back to the Shiba House to treat his injuries. Suddenly, the female Red Ranger lands behind them and demorphs. Everyone is shocked that there is a second Red Ranger, but Jayden introduces them to Lauren, his big sister. Everyone is shocked and confused about what’s going on, and they hound Lauren with questions about where she was from the start. However, Mia stops them and welcomes Lauren to the team.

Back at the Shiba House, Mentor Ji explains the truth about Jayden and Lauren to the other Rangers. Years ago, Master Xandred and the Moogers waged a fierce battle against the previous Samurai Ranger team, and it was becoming clear they could not stop the former. So, Jayden and Lauren’s father devised a plan: he had Lauren hidden away so she could master the Sealing Symbol, while Jayden stayed behind so he could lead the next generation of Samurai Rangers. Afterwards, their father used an imperfect version of the Sealing Symbol to seal Master Xandred away to the Netherworld and hoped his children would succeed where he failed. While the Rangers are taken aback by this revelation, along with realizing that Jayden had to carry the burden of lying to them about his true background, Master Ji reassures them that Lauren’s return meant she mastered the Sealing Symbol. So, they now have a way to seal Xandred forever.

As Lauren tends to Jayden’s wounds, the siblings catch up on lost time as the former said she imagined what his life was while she was in hiding. Jayden said he became close with the other Rangers as he considered them his surrogate family, and Lauren hopes to be a part of that family now that she is here. However, Jayden says they cannot be together as Lauren must take over as the leader of the Samurai Rangers, and the only way he can ensure that is to leave. Lauren does not want that to happen, but Jayden says that if he stays, dangerous mistakes could be made, and he does not want to risk his sister’s safety.

The following day, the Rangers set up a greeting party for Lauren as Mike notices how different her Samuraizer is from theirs. Lauren explains that it belonged to her father, while Jayden enters with a bag and a box containing the Black Box and all the Power Discs he collected. Jayden gives the box to Lauren and tells the Rangers to follow his sister from now on. Jayden says he is leaving the Shiba House permanently, much to the shock of the others as they protest his decision. However, Jayden says that Lauren has the Sealing Symbol, meaning she can end their fight and takes his leave. Mike begs Mentor Ji to stop Jayden, but the latter knows he cannot stop Jayden from leaving.

Later that evening, the Rangers sulk about Jayden’s departure as they lost the person they had known for a year. Kevin reminds the group that they have a duty to serve as Samurai, but Antonio leaves to find Jayden as Lauren finds herself dealing with a team that is not happy with a change in leadership.
