This article is about an episode in No.1 Sentai Gozyuger.

Ep. 9: Unbreakable Wolf (アンブレイカブル・ウルフ Anbureikaburu Urufu) is the ninth episode of No.1 Sentai Gozyuger. This is the conclusion of the first arc of the Gozyuger battle saga,[1] featuring the debut of the WolfDecalibur50 and TegaSword DekaClaw.

Synopsis[]

Hoeru quits the Gozyuger team after meeting Kuon, who has changed everything. Hoeru, who is now an outcast again, starts working part-time at a café. Then, Fire Candle suddenly appears, and Hoeru and Fire Candle engage in a butler battle...!?

At the same time, Kuon is seen in TegaSword Village. The Gozyugers are in a big pinch because of the overwhelming power of Garyudo...! Hoeru's decision to rush to the scene gives him new strength...!

Plot[]

The episode begins immediately with Hoeru, who narrates what happened so far until the scene flash cut with himself, who is currently working at a Butler Cafe, complete with a suit and black mask to cover his face. Unexpectedly, his brash attitude and bad boy look is rather welcomed by the eccentric Cafe Manager. Not long after, someone shouted to order, and this prompting Hoeru to serve the caller. However, Hoeru is shocked to saw that the caller is none other than Fire Candle! After Fire Candle placed his order (which consisting with a cup of coffee and a club sandwich), Fire Candle ruminates his thought that all he think about is how to defeat Gozyu Wolf fair and square. His mind then replayed the previous event in Buraidan's base, where Kuon reveals that Hoeru is his little brother, which solidify his reason to defeat him; to serve Queen TegaJune who grant him the power of Garyudo in the first place. Kuon also mocked Fire Candle for ‘futilely’ fight in a battle where he couldn’t won in the first place. The last remark truly infuriates the Buraidan Attack Force Captain as he curses Kuon/that X guy out loud before he dines. Once he’s finished, Fire Candle is about to leave without paying before he’s stopped by Hoeru, who demand him to pay for his meal.

Predictably, Fire Candle had no idea what is paying in the first place, thus prompting Hoeru to state that Human world had a rule when dining in restaurants. Before a greater fight could erupt, The Cafe manager stood in their way, claiming Fire Candle looks as Cute. And so, The manager proposes that Fire Candle will have to work to pay for his meal, much to Hoeru’s dismay. Fire Candle sees this as a challenge to be No.1 while at it, and proceed to call Hoeru a “Loser Dog” for not competing with him. Feeling Offended, Hoeru confront Fire Candle head on and accept his challenge, although he call himself as Butler Lonely Wolf instead of his real name when Fire Candle inquires his identity. The battle between Butlers finally commenced with the target being which butler makes the higher sale, with the Cafe Manager as the judge. Both Hoeru and Fire Candle are surprisingly adept at giving service to the female customers. The Cafe Manager even praises both of them for making the Cafe sales Skyrocket due to how Avant-Garde they executed their fanservice. Fire Candle soon notices that a male customer refused to pay for his meals and instead running away from the cafe, prompting the Attack Force Captain to quickly subdue him with his fiery staff after a lengthy chase.

Meanwhile, at Cafe Half Century, the other Gozyugers wondered what happened to Hoeru all of sudden. Rikuo is about to divert the topic since the aformentioned person already left with his own volition, but Sumino argues that Hoeru might have burdened himself by keeping the reason for himself. Not long after, Kuon visited Cafe Half Century while mocking the Gozyugers that they had no idea about Hoeru whatsoever. While The Gozyugers initially saw Kuon as the young CEO of Kuon AI Konzern, they are quick to keep their guard on after Kuon revealed that He loved his little brother, Hoeru so much that he view him akin of a Puppet, and thus Kuon is the only one worthy to led his way of life, including choosing his friends. Kuon then threaten the Gozyugers to stay away from Hoeru forevermore, only to be rebuked by Rikuo, who claimed that Hoeru is the Only One worthy to choose his own friends. Feeling offended by their refusal, Kuon then decides to Kill them all.

Back at Hoeru situation, he arrived after Fire Candle sees through the problematic male customer is apprehended by a police. Hoeru asked him if his only goal is to be the No.1, and Fire Candle acknowledge that remark. Hoeru is confused on why did he’s so driven by the competition, why he’s not scared at all. Fire Candle confront him (albeit not knowing his alter ego) by saying that he’s scared of losing, which Hoeru suprisingly admitted. Hoeru exclaimed that he’s scared of losing someone important to him, he’s scared of being betrayed by the people he care about, which is why he’s completely fine being an outcast, and a lone wolf. Fire Candle shown his dissatisfaction upon the fact that Butler Lonely Wolf is even more low than a loser dog, and proceed to give his point of view about competition of being No.1. What Fire Candle seek in those battles are not the prize, but the thrill of the fight itself. He declared that he want to fight That Guy and fully feel his passion, his shape of soul. Fire Candle also exclaimed that he doesn’t mind losing, as his flame will keep on Blazing. After Fire Candle thanked Hoeru for allowing him to rekindling his resolve before leaving, Hoeru is transported into TegaSword Red Realm. Hoeru admitted to TegaSword that he’s scared all his life from losing anyone he care about, claiming that since he turned his fangs against the Gozyugers, he doesn’t deserve their companionship anymore. TegaSword Red instead encourages Hoeru to break free from his fears that caged him, and to slice open his world even further. TegaSword Red then showered Hoeru with a blinding White Light…

The scene shifted to a barren land, where Kuon and the rest of the Gozyugers (minus Hoeru) is about to battle. After everyone transformed, Garyudo immediately shown his fighting skills that even outmaneuver the Gozyugers. He proceed to summon Geki Red, Spade Ace & Denzi Red to even out the playing field, leaving Gozyu Leon to fight Garyudo one to one. Since Garyudo fights mainly with long ranged attacks, Gozyu Leon retransforming into Bun Red to attack him. However, Garyudo easily avoid even the Homing Beam attacks from him, and declared that he will hunt the Boonboomger Sentai Ring. Garyudo proceed to do just that by transforming Denzi Red into a pair of Denzi Punch gauntlet that Geki Red uses to clobber Bun Red, thus reverting Rikuo back to Gozyu Leon and allow Garyudo to gain the Boonboomger Sentai Ring. Gozyu Tyranno, Eagle, and Unicorn then attempted to do a combined attack using their respective weapons, but Garyudo skillfully overcome this predicament by transforming Spade Ace into a deck of poker cards that blocked their attacks and fend them away.

Hoeru then arrives as the Gozyugers is backed into the corner. Garyudo greets his brother and announce that he’ll about to clean this mess on his own. Hoeru could only watch as Garyudo and the summoned Universe Warrior proceed to beat the Gozyugers, but Ryugi declared that he had something to say to Hoeru = He doesn’t paid his Tabs yet. The other members also talked that Hoeru didn’t pay them for their ‘service’. Garyudo is confused by this and Ryugi said that while they didn’t know and bonded with Hoeru that much, the latter still have Debts to be paid. Rikuo then throw Gozyu Wolf ring to Hoeru, exclaiming that they all thought of Hoeru akin of a beloved Pet, and told him to not run away and fight the Ring Hunter. With the other Gozyugers member encouragement to fight, Hoeru lets out a howl. He declared to Kuon that he’s done running away, and that he won’t be scared of losing anymore as he transforms into Gozyu Wolf.

After Hoeru done so, he declared that he'll open his world even further for himself. As if to answer Hoeru new found resolve, his TegaSword Red ring shines and allow Hoeru to access a brand new weapon from his Torso armor = WolfDecalibur50. Hoeru quickly defeat the summoned Universe Warriors using the sword latent ability to make several inter-connecting Black Holes. With only Garyudo remaining, the Ring Hunter angrily said that opposing his brother meant punishment. Gozyu Wolf snapped back and declare that he won’t go easy on him anymore, referring him fully as Kuon, the prey that he’ll hunt on. With Garyudo returning the same sentiment, the battle between brothers then commence.

Predictably, despite Garyudo better fighting ability and experiences in hunting the Universe Warriors, Gozyu Wolf succeeded in overpowering Garyudo by his new weapon. Garyudo mocked Gozyu Wolf that he’ll always be a Loser Dog all his life, but Hoeru turned the mockery into a title instead, by exclaiming that he’s the No.1 Loser Dog. Hoeru then uses his weapon finisher, Wolf Decalibur Finish to defeat Garyudo and obtain the Ninninger Sentai Ring in return. The defeated Garyudo admitted that Hoeru bested him this time before retreating as Night fall on the battlefield.

Just as the Gozyugers about to celebrate Hoeru victory, Fire Candle appeared with his King Candelor to search for Gozyu Wolf, exclaiming that he won’t care even if Gozyu Wolf is Garyudo’s brother, he’ll face him head on to shape his fire even further. Hoeru accepted the challenge, exclaiming that he won’t run away from battle anymore as he summoned the Giant God TegSword, and reconfigure it into TegaSword Red Dekaclaw after enlarging the WolfDecalibur50 as well, surprising the rest of the Gozyugers. Both Hoeru and Fire Candle then clash with each ofher, but Hoeru proven to be at his top form once more as he successfully backed King Candelor into the corner. Hoeru quickly finishes the battle by executing his new finisher = TegaSword: Claw Vanisher that not only restrain King Candelor’s movement with Chains, but also impales the Dress Guard. While he’s once again defeated, Fire Candle is satisfied that he can finally feel Hoeru’s soul burning brightly once more. Hoeru howled in delight over his victory as he’s announced as the Winner in this No.1 Battle, this time as Hoeru Tono instead of Gozyu Wolf.

With Hoeru returning to Cafe Half Century, he apologizes for everything he had done while being manipulated by Garyudo. While his teammates are happy by this upfront apology, they still demand Hoeru to pay for his debt nonetheless despite Hoeru asking for a freebie. The scene then shifted to Kuon, who arrived in his hideout in No One World. As he undressed his top, we can see a mysterious X shaped scar on his back that seemingly grew larger with each battles. Kuon, who already lost his mind upon his first ever defeat, declared that He won’t let Hoeru to escape from No.1 Battle, as they are fated to break each other. Kuon then laugh in madness before screaming in pain over his ever-growing scar as the episode ends.
