Synopsis[]
Gira, who is held hostage by children in an orphanage, decides to fight a "Trial by Combat" with King Rcules of Shugodom. Victory or defeat in this battle for the throne of the true king will be decided by the death of one of them... What will happen to the confrontation between Kuwagata Ohger and Ohkuwagata Ohger?
Plot[]
Picking up where the previous episode left off, the following day Rita announces to the kingdoms that Gira will face his brother Rcules in a trial by combat with them acting as the official referee of the duel. Whomever wins the trial can make any demand that they see fit to the loser, and the winner will be determined by whoever forfeits by surrendering….or is slain by the victor. Gira is once again in jail in Gokkan, a look of determination on his face as he mentally prepares for the battle ahead,
Back in Shugodom, Rcules explains to his servants when asked that he agreed to the trial because they’re some in the kingdom who do not respect his authority. Kogane and the children are outside the castle protesting for Gira’s release, only for the man in the hat who blindly follows Rcules to attack them and try to break up their protest with little success.
Rcules continues, saying he will open the eyes of the people to the “truth” of who their true king is. It is revealed that Kaguragi was the one who suggested the trial, which has Douga concerned about the meaning behind it, only to be silenced by the point of his king’s Ohgercaliber ZERO. Douga is only concerned that his sovereign will lose to Gira and be humiliated. Rcules scoffs at the notion, confidently saying he is incapable of losing.
In N’Kosopa, Yanma and his crew are boisterously cheering on Gira to achieve victory, with Hymeno and Kaguragi on video call, with her telling them to knock it off as she can hear it all the way in Ishibana. She doesn’t feel comfortable about the trial and a chance that King-Ohger and the Greater Guardians could end up being the personal property of Rcules. She cannot stand the idea but Kaguragi sees no issue with that, which has her wondering why he is so willing to bend to Rcules. She reminds him of the Fury of the Gods, wondering why God Kuwagata did not aid Ishibana 15 years ago, but Kaguragi just tells her to forget the past. Himeno then tries to speak with Rita on the phone, but they are not allowing communication with Gira.
She then gets to the point and says that they can use Gira to gain control of King-Ohger, something that the Bug Naraku are also planning on, using the trial as an opportunity to kidnap him. Desnarak binds Kamejim for failing to secure God Scorpion and says his trust in him is nonexistent. Gerojim approaches him to offer his services using his abilities to slip through unseen into Shugodom. Desnarak accepts his offer but continues trying to crush Kamejim despite his pleas for mercy.
Hymeno has a sample of God Scorpion’s venom that she wishes to run an analysis on, while Rita inquires to Gira about his kidnapping from the castle when he was young. Gira doesn’t remember it at all and Rita suspects that Rcules or Boshimar might know. If Rcules was involved in the kidnapping, they will judge him before the trial begins since the trial was unfair as Gira was forced into it. It is normally custom that a trial by combat is something both parties willingly consent to.
Hymeno’s lab results confirm that the poison that killed her parents matches that of God Scorpion’s venom. This means someone took advantage of God Scorpion during Fury of the Gods to assassinate the King and Queen of Ishibana.
Rita insists that Gira try to remember what he was doing before he was kidnapped, but Gira refuses to cooperate as that would rob him of a chance to defeat Rcules.
Kaguragi has a private meeting with Rcules, revealing he stole the venom and proposes using it as a secret weapon to eliminate Gira. He demonstrates the venom’s power to the corrupt ruler by killing a koi fish with a single drop of venom. Kaguragi simply says that when dealing with filth, one must fight dirty, handing Rcules the syringe.
The day of the trial begins and both combatants give their demands; Rcules wants to disown his brother, stripping him of his royal title and then to forever remain locked in a dungeon. Gira wants to strip Rcules of his position as King and claim his throne.
Both men draw their swords and Rcules reveals that he can transform, becoming Ohkuwagata Ohger, much to Gira’s shock.
Gira then transforms and the two brothers clash, with Rcules effortlessly knocking Gira back. Rita tries to follow them to oversee the battle but the guards drag them away, revealing to be Hymeno, Kaguragi and Yanma. They planned on faking Gira being “poisoned” with a sedative to trick Rcules into thinking he won and his brother died, then taking the “corpse” to a safe location and then use Gira in secret for their purposes. Kaguragi however might have screwed up the plan by giving Rcules the real venom because he didn’t read the labels on the syringes. Everyone except Kaguragi then panics about this.
Gira is struggling to even land a hit on Rcules and on the verge of losing and then is sent flying out of the kingdom and slammed hard onto the ground as Rita notices that Rcules is preparing to use the syringe to kill Gira. They and Yanma and Hymeno race to save him but Kaguragi smiles and goes elsewhere.
Rcules demands that Gira surrender but he laughs at the tyrant, saying that if he is so confident he is winning then why does he not laugh in his face. Gira believes that deep down, Rcules is afraid of him, but he denies that as Gira is but a lowly worm who is no threat to him. Gira gets angry, asking Rcules if he really was kidnapped or did his older brother simply try to get rid of him. Rcules hesitates upon hearing this and Gira says that in order to secure the throne, his own flesh and blood, out of fear of a mere small child, tried to dispose of him. This weakens Rcules’s concentration and his next attack doesn’t hit as hard, which Gira thinks proves that he is correct in his suspicions. Rcules uses a Lord Charge slash and seemingly wins, but Gira blocked the attack and intensifies his own attacks as the two swiftly exchange blows at each other.
Yanma appears to help, acting strangely, and an irritated Rcules stabs him with the venom syringe. “Yanma” was actually Gerojim in disguise and Rcules set this up so that the cameras would show Gira holding the Bug Naraku in his arms. This frames Gira as a sympathizer of Chikyuu’s hated enemies and the public turns further against him. Despite the real Yanma showing up and the others trying to help, some Sanagims appear to distract them.
Meanwhile, Kaguragi sneaks around Shugodom Castle and discovers something….
Rcules manages to blast Gira towards a cliff and then uses a powerful Lord Finish to send him falling off of it. Kogane and the children are horrified seeing Gira fall to his death while the citizens cheer over the killing of the dreaded would be usurper. Rita declares Rcules the winner..,
But it turns out that the Rangers saved Gira and Himeno treated his wounds, Rcules had missed hitting any vital points of Gira’s body. Gerojim had awakened from his poisoned state and grew giant earlier and the team insists that Gira lay low and let them handle it. As far as anyone is concerned, Gira is dead and nobody will look for him if he keeps up the ruse.
When Rcules tries to deal with Gerojim by attempting to summon King-Ohger, he is interrupted by the appearance of the final Greater Guardian, God Hopper.
