Ep. 7: Get Excited! Come Together, Gozyugers!

This article is about an episode in No.1 Sentai Gozyuger.

Ep. 7: Get Excited! Come Together, Gozyugers! (心ときめけ！結集、ゴジュウジヤー！ Kokoro Tokimeki! Kesshū, Gojūjā!) is the seventh episode of No.1 Sentai Gozyuger. Ring Hunter Garyudo makes a brief appearance in this episode.

Synopsis[]

The person riding the mysterious giant robot that rescued Sumino in a pinch is TyrannoRanger, university professor Meguru Osai. He passionately tells the disparate Hoeru and the others, "A Sentai is like an omurice"!?

On the other hand, Rikuo and Tokimeki No.1 face off in a heart-throbbing battle. As he tries to impress Sumino and Bouquet, Rikuo's secret feelings are revealed...!

Plot[]

The episode begins immediately from when the events the previous episode left off, where the timely arrival of Daizyuzin saves TegaSword Black from Mr. Shining Knife & Mrs. Sweet Cake's attack. While Mrs. Sweet Cake is perplexed by the mecha's arrival, Mr. Shining Knife is horrified instead, as he knew that Daizyuzin was supposed to be destroyed during the Universe War. No sooner does he say this, TyrannoRanger executes the Super Legend Thunder finisher to defeat the gigantic Buraidan general the second time. While the couple re-emerges unharmed from the attack, they cannot retain effects of the Love Big Wave and forcibly retreat. As the Gozyugers can only look on in awe of the sight, Kinjiro notices TyrannoRanger standing on Daizyuzin's shoulder. As TyrannoRanger cancels his transformation, he notices that the Gozyugers have finally assembled but are still not qualified as a "proper" Sentai team before he takes his leave alongside Daizyuzin.

Some days later, Sumino is investigating on another new case, although the appearance of Rikuo irritates her. She ends up divulging that this case, alongside with other similar ones, had the same bizarre phenomenon, which involve the victims spouting "More Heart Throb (Tokimeki)". Rikuo offers to help her with this case since they are technically teammates, but Sumino coldly asks him to go somewhere else.

Meanwhile, at Cafe Half Century, Ryugi is shown to procure a crate full of apples, while Kinjiro is busy with his self party, and Hoeru struggles with another job interview, all while accompanied by Aoi Iijima. Hoeru berates Kinjiro for doing nonsense, with Kinjiro retorting that he's always serious, and Ryugi threatens both of them to stay quiet by forcibly crushing a whole apple with his bare hand. The bickering comes to a halt as a new figure enters the cafe, bemoaning about the meaning of Super Sentai. The figure later introduces himself as Meguru Osai, a Professor who teaches Sentai Archeology to college students, and is also the Universe Warrior TyrannoRanger. The trio realize that Osai is the same one that saved them piloting Daizyuzin, with Osai himself divulging that this was all thanks to his Sentai Ring's unique ability, which is to Regain what has been lost. Osai complains that while there are five members of Gozyugers, they are still not a proper Super Sentai. And so, he decides to train the trio by challenging them to make a good Omurice together, with the Abaranger and Kyoryuger Sentai Rings as their prize, much to the trio's surprise.

Back with Rikuo and Sumino's situation, Rikuo is still persistent to help Sumino and offers her to read his thoughts using her ESP power. However, Sumino reveals that she cannot read the minds from people who bear the Ring Contract. Suddenly, without warning, A No One World appears before them, and promptly teleports Sumino into a special domain that forcibly puts her into a Heart-Pounding State. Rikuo counters this by blowing a kiss that cancels the domain, and the No One World wonders if Rikuo is truly able to counter his ability. Rikuo exclaims that he'll become Idol No.1, and thus possessing the ability to charm people is a must. As Sumino declares that she finally found the culprit in this case, the monster introduces himself as Tokimeki No.1, and promptly challenges Rikuo to a Number One Battle. With Rikuo accepting the challenge, Tokimeki No.1 teleports both Gozyugers to a Tokimeki Domain, alongside Bouquet and Mr. Shining Knife & Mrs. Sweet Cake as judges. Predictably, Bouquet is immediately lovestruck by Rikuo's appearance, now that she could see him more closely. However, not wanting to reveal her allegiance to Buraidan, she promptly stops Tokimeki No.1 from introducing her by stomping on his foot and introduces herself as an ordinary person instead.

Back at Cafe Half Century, Hoeru begins the Omurice Challenge by quickly picking the fresh ingredients based on his superior sense of smell. Kinjiro exclaims that Hoeru cheated and starts bickering with him, while Ryugi calmly asks Osai if he's genuine in his challenge or not. Osai nonchalantly replies that he is, since he saw potential in the newly formed Gozyugers. He adds he's only interested with the Sentai History as a whole post Universe War. The professor then produces an old, seemingly ancient book from his bag, and divulges some information for them: The Sentai Rings that the Universe Warriors used were formerly the power from the original Super Sentai teams across the universes, while the Gozyugers are special due to them chosen by Giant God TegaSword itself. This revelation piques everyone's interest while Osai continues to reveal that only the Gozyugers are able to unite with Giant God TegaSword, as they are revered as "Beasts of Five who possessed the Golden TegaSwords" in the legend. Osai concluded the information by revealing that after the Universe War, only the Red colored Rangers’ power were collected into Sentai Rings, while Gozyugers possess all colors aside of Red, which makes the group the only one eligible to hold the Super Sentai title.

Back with Sumino’s and Rikuo’s situation, a Golden Ai commander who goes by the name Mike Goseick becomes the announcer for the Number One Battle. The battles uses a rounds system, with the first round being a simulation as to how the contestants (Rikuo and Tokimeki No.1) protect a girl from being harassed by several Ais posing as Thugs. Of course, Sumino becomes the 'heroine' in this simulation, much to her frustration, although she ultimately decides to persevere in the name of investigation. Tokimeki No.1 appears first and properly saves Sumino from the Ais, while Rikuo doing the same in an eccentric manner of a dance battle. As a result, only Bouquet votes for Rikuo, while Mr. Shining Knife and Mrs. Sweet Cake vote for Tokimeki No.1. After Tokimeki No.1 is announced the winner for this round, Mrs. Sweet Cake swoons over Tokimeki No.1, much to Mr. Shining Knife's dismay.

The second round involves the scenario of Sumino catching a fever, with Rikuo properly pampering Sumino this time (with Bouquet swooning in the background), and he's declared winner of this round.

The third round involves Sumino working as a kitchen staff, acting clumsily due to overwork. Tokimeki No.1 manages to flirt with her, much to her dismay (And Mrs. Sweet Cake swooning in the background), and declared winner on this round.

The fourth round involves flirting on Sumino using Kabedon (Wall Slamming). Predictably, Rikuo easily wins this round since Tokimeki No.1 does a Cicada Kabedon instead. By the time the fourth round is over, both contestants become tired, while acknowledging each other charms.

Back at Cafe Half Century, things have become messy, with the remaining three Gozyugers being busy doing their own thing and inadvertently meddling with each other's progress. Aoi then confronts Hoeru while reminding him that he doesn't have to do everything alone. And so, Hoeru asks Ryugi to lead them, so that they can try doing "teamwork". The monk accepts this idea and immediately orders Hoeru to cut the vegetables and Kinjiro to get the rice ready. Finally, they create another TegaSword-inspired Omurice together, and Osai acknowledges their teamwork as a success. After Hoeru also acknowledged the benefit of working together, Osai asked them to do a final assignment…

Back with Rikuo’s and Sumino’s situation, they finally enter the fifth and final round, which involves Tokimeki No.1 and Rikuo each divulging their past in a cool way, all while having a walk with Sumino on a beach. However, Tokimeki No.1 fumbles the round since all he can think about is how to swoon Sumino. With Rikuo's turn up next, Sumino advises him to show his real past using his real persona. Rikuo then admits that as a child, he didn’t care about anything, much like a fogged glass. However, once he became an idol, he was elated to see his fans' happy faces, and so his world become much clearer, like a blue marble he kept with him. However, true to the media's unforgiving nature, someone ended up getting jealous of Rikuo's fame and popularity, thus forcibly dragged him out from the spotlight using fake rumors and scandals. However even after that, Rikuo didn't want to lose his shine any longer. Therefore, he vowed to take back his spotlight and become Idol No.1, so that he can stay true to himself. This revelation is acknowledged by Sumino and the judges alike (especially Bouquet. who passes out after feeling touched by Rikuo's bitter past), and he's unanimously declared Winner of the Number One Battle.

Predictably, Tokimeki No.1 doesn't accept the result fair and square, and decides to manifest the Extra Round, which is simply fighting to the death. Hoeru, Kinjiro, Ryugi, and Osai manage to catch up to Rikuo and Sumino, with Ryugi pointing to both of them to do something before the fight, and Kinjiro fills in the duo with their prior predicaments. As Osai encourages them to unite into a cohesive team, Sumino agrees to fight alongside Rikuo, with her citing that maybe she can see something good from the idol for once. Finally, The Gozyugers transform together and performed a simplified roll call, although Hoeru struggles a bit with choosing the pose. The others also get confused with this new routine, although Osai is too touched to even care. Osai then transforms into TyrannoRanger to aid them, and gifts Ryugi and Kinjiro the Abaranger and Kyoryuger Sentai Rings as he promised. Hoeru complains that he didn't get a Sentai Ring from Osai, with the latter jokingly saying that since he's still hesitant, his reward is postponed for now.

A battle ensues with Rikuo facing off against Tokimeki No.1, while the rest are fighting the Ais. Ryugi, Kinjiro, and Sumino retransform into AbaRed, Kyoryu Red, and RyusoulRed respectively, prompting Osai to declare the formation as the Dinosaur Sentai Dream Team. As the Dinosaur Sentai successfully fend against most Ais, Hoeru retransforms into Don Momotaro, and uses both his Zanglass Sword and innate ability to summon the Companion Origamis to deal with the rest. Utterly defeated, Mr. Shining Knife and Mrs. Sweet Cake retreat, but Mike Goseick then appears with Ayayser Dierama to even the score. This prompts Hoeru to summon TegaSword Red to combat the Ayayser, although the Ayayser succeeds in restraining the TegaSword using his chains. Osai then joins the fray by reconfiguring his Silver TegaSword into Dino Buckler to summon Daizyuzin and aid TegaSword Red. Ultimately, both TegaSword Red and Daizyuzin perform the Final God Special finisher to destroy both Mike Goseick and Ayayser Dierama.

As Rikuo and Tokimeki No.1 are still duking each other out, Rikuo uses his charm to momentarily distract Tokimeki No.1. Rikuo then uses this chance to deliver the Finish Finger Leon to the charming monster, declaring that he'll become Idol Number One. With the host saved and Tokimeki No.1 exploding after acknowledging that he's been Heart Throbbed by Rikuo, GozyuLeon is announced as the winner of this Number One Battle. Things seemingly go back to normal, with Osai complimenting the Gozyugers’ cohesive teamwork. However, out of nowhere, a mysterious figure suddenly shoots Osai from his back. The Gozyugers are confused over the unexpected situation, until Ryugi points out the assailant, a grey warrior wearing a white and red variation of TegaSword, who simply stares at them.

The Ring Hunter has finally entered the fray…

  • The title contains Shugoju (しゅうごじゅう Shūgojū), derived from Shinka Gattai Daizyuzin's components the Guardian Beasts, in reference to the appearance of the Universe Warrior incarnation of TyrannoRanger.
  • The quote Meguru says when he enters the cafe is "The five powers combine into one", which comes from the chorus of Gorenger's theme song, Susume! Gorenger.
  • Ryugi using the Abaranger Ring is likely a nod to his name containing the words "Ryu" and "Baku".
  • Kinjiro using the Kyoryuger Ring as the Sentai bears the theme of samba, fitting for his "Party People" personality.
  • The footage of the explosions when Megeru consumes the Omurice is reused from Ryusoulger episode 1.
