Finish It! This Is an Underhanded Battle (キメるぜ! これが裏技バトル Kimeru ze! Kore ga Urawaza Batoru) is the fifth episode of Denji Sentai Megaranger.
Synopsis[]
I.N.E.T. forces Professor Kubota to allow another scientist to use an auto-program on the Galaxy Mega as opposed to the Megaranger as Dr. Hinelar improves on the Nejire Beasts.
Plot[]
After reviewing footage of Galaxy Mega's battle against Rhino Nezire in episode 3, the I.N.E.T. board of directors tell Professor Kubota that they have concerns about using high school students as operators, and report that the Megarangers haven't been using Galaxy Mega's full potential. Despite Kubota's protests that the Megarangers are performing well, I.N.E.T. announces that the mecha will be turned over to technical program specialist Dr. Toyokawa, to be controlled by a computer program instead of human operators.
Shortly after, Dr. Toyokawa arrives for a field demonstration. Galaxy Mega moves and deflects simulated beam attacks, without a crew, much to the surprise of the Megarangers on the ground. Later at headquarters, Professor Kubota drinks coffee with one of the engineering crew, and remarks that although the Megarangers were only recruited by coincidence, they seemed to be the perfect match for his concept, of a robot that evolves with its operators. He laments that I.N.E.T.'s directors couldn't understand his wish.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hinelar examines the remains of a defeated Nezire monster, and discovers a fragment of the Mega Saber. Triumphantly, he announces that by programming information from the sword fragment into the DNA of a new Nezire monster, they can make it too strong to be defeated by the Mega Saber.
Back at school, Kouichiro tells Kenta and Shun that they must train in kendo to improve their fighting performance with Galaxy Mega. Kenta complains and insults the kendo club, and is overheard by club members, who then attack Kenta with their shinai. Kenta fights back and easily defeats the kendo club. Moments later, Miku and Chisato arrive, saying there is an emergency call from Professor Kubota. The team installs and takes their Cyber Sliders to the base of a volcano, where they encounter Shrimp Nezire. Shibolena arrives with Bibidebi, and orders the Nezire beast to retreat to the volcano, where he is injected with Bibidebi's virus and grows.
Dr. Toyokawa deploys Galaxy Mega, and loads the new control program on a magneto-optical disc, telling the Megarangers that they are no longer needed. Initially, Galaxy Mega appears to be damaging the Nezire beast, reflecting one attack before retaliating with the Mega Saber, but Shrimp Nezire manages to grab the sword and disarm the mecha. As the Nezire beast damages Galaxy Mega, Shibolena gloats that his skin and the Mega Saber are made of the same alloy. Galaxy Mega and Shrimp Nezire grapple by the edge of the volcano, as Kubota tries to make Toyokawa edit the control program, but Toyokawa insists that the program is perfect, the monster's defense was simply too strong. After a direct hit without the aid of shock absorbers, the crew are knocked from their stations, and the control program calculates a 0% chance of victory. Seeing this, Toyokawa prepares to evacuate, but Kubota protests that he can't abandon the more than 100 crew members aboard. Toyokawa argues that there is no chance of success and no point in continuing to fight, to which Kubota replies that Galaxy Mega will evolve with Megaranger.
From the ground, the Megarangers see Toyokawa's escape pod launch, while Kubota climbs up to the cockpit to disengage the automatic control program. Just before Shrimp Nezire can knock Galaxy Mega into the volcano, Kubota manages to eject the control program, and the Megarangers appear in the cockpit, immediately blocking the Nezire beast's attack, and leaping out of the volcano. Back on solid ground, Galaxy Mega fights with kicks, headbutts, and by swinging Shrimp Nezire by his antennae. Kenta then uses the Mega Saber's Saber Electromagnetic Whip, allowing it to grab and lift the monster, before finally throwing him into the volcano.
Back on the ground, Kubota asks Toyokawa if he saw the Megarangers fight. The latter replies by comparing them to brawling thugs, but also says that they have shown that humans have limitless potential, that programs cannot yet match. Toyokawa says that he will report to I.N.E.T. that Galaxy Mega still needs Kubota and Megaranger, and the rangers celebrate.
