Self Destruct! Mecha-Humans (自爆!メカ人間 Jibaku! Meka Ningen) is the fourth episode of Choudenshi Bioman. In the Philippine English Dub, the title of the episode changed to "Mechaclones! Subterfuge".
Synopsis[]
Using Shirou's animal informants, Bioman discovers a Gear plot to replace humans with exploding Mecha-Humans to sabotage a super-energy plant.
Plot[]
In a lab, a scientist reveals himself as a Mecha-Human and explodes, destroying the complex. It is impossible for outsiders to enter the complex, yet somehow Gear managed to infiltrate it. The Biomen were called in to investigate. At Neograd, Mason informs Doctor Man the Mecha-Human plan was a success. Farrah and Monster are mad that Mason was praised for a successful plan. Doctor Man electrocutes Monster with his zapper, berating him that he had to start the project due to their failures. Doctor Man explains they shall create more and more Mecha-Humans to create panic in Japan.
Ever since Shirou has become aware of his abilities to communicate with animals, he has adopted a dog, a cat and a pigeon to act as his informants. Pigeon Informant 001 informs Shirou of a town with strange events happening. Travelling to the small town in the outskirts of Tokyo, Shirou asks a local policeman if there are any strange events going on. The policeman replied "no", and they part ways. Later, the policeman informs Mason that a Bioman has come to the town and Mason questions how did they know that something is wrong with the town. Shirou asks his pigeon informant if there are any more details, but before it can answer, it was killed by an electric blast by Mettzler, who reveals himself from a puddle of green slime. Mechaclones reveal themselves, and Shirou transforms into Red1 to fight them. Destroying the Mechaclones easily, Mettzler proves to be too big of a threat for Red1 to handle alone. The other Biomen are on patrol when they detected Red1 was in trouble, and heads to his location to help.
Shirou mourns the loss of his animal informant, and blames himself for its death. They vow to avenge him. Remembering that the pigeon mentioned a mysterious building, they split up to find it. Shirou runs into the same policeman as before, and the policeman reveals himself as a Mecha-Human and attacks him. Shirou destroys it and warns him teammates. As he warns them, they are attacked by Mecha-Humans as well, who explodes in a suicide attack.
At a super-energy plant, humans are slowly being replaced by Mecha-Human doppelgangers. Shirou investigates a building, and finds a feather. A pigeon informs it belonged to 001. Investigating further, Shirou destroys some Mechaclones, and enter the building, finding a large amount of dormant Mecha-Humans. Encountering Mason, Shirou transforms and fight. Mason announces it is too late, as the Mecha-Humans have already infiltrated the super-energy plant. Running off, Red1 and the Biomen head off to the energy plant.
Arriving there, Green2 uses his Super Electron Scope and Blue3 uses his Super Electron Ear to pick out Mecha-Humans from the crowd and destroy them. Mettzler reveals himself alongside an army of Mechaclones and they fight. Mettzler uses his Mecha Change Ghost ability to turn invisible, giving the Biomen trouble. Green2 and Blue3 uses their abilities to find him, and Red1 shoots Mettzler with his gun. They finish him off with a Bio Kick attack.
Doctor Man sends out Beetle Canth to crush the Biomen, and Red1 calls forth the BioDragon. They jump in, and launch the BioJets. After destroying a group of Mirage Fighters, they form the BioRobo to fight Beetle Canth. With the Super Maser, the BioRobo cuts off Beetle Canth's horn and finish it off with a Chainsaw Cutter attack.
The Biomen head off, now with new animal allies to aid them in their battles.

Errors[]
- When Red1 destroys a Mechaclone the locomotives briefly disappear.
- Right before the Mechaclone disguised as the businessman comes out from behind the sign, the clouds reflecting off of it make a slight jump.
Notes[]
- Viewership: 10.7%
- First time Mason team up with Metzler. Unlike in episode 1 where Mason team up with Messerjū, Mason and Metzler are not seen together throughout the episode. This trope would be repeated in episode 36 where Farrah and Psygorn team up yet they are not seen together.
