Ep. 4: Party Time ☆ Dreaming Old Man

This article is about an episode in No.1 Sentai Gozyuger.

Ep. 4: Party Time ☆ Dreaming Old Man (パーリィタイム☆夢見るじじい Pāryi Taimu ☆ Yumemiru Jijī) is the fourth episode of No.1 Sentai Gozyuger. It features the full debut of Kinjiro Takehara/GozyuEagle.

Synopsis[]

The GozyuEagle that suddenly appears in front of Hoeru and the others is actually a Grandpa! Joji Takehara, a.k.a. "Grandpa", has been rejuvenated and goes back to high school to start his youth all over again. For some reason, he changes his name to Kinjiro and makes friends in class, but...!? Then, Party People No.1 shows up and the "Party People No.1" showdown begins!

Meanwhile, Sumino, who is working for a "certain purpose," is almost attacked by Ryusoul Red, but is saved by Tokonatsu...!?

Joji Takehara starts the episode with a monologue about his past. He's 87 years old grandpa with a stoic, yet sincere disposition that resulted in his Grandson, Futoshi to mockingly called him a Stuborn Geezer. One day, he found Gozyu Eagle Sentai Ring placed on his Bonsai Tree by chance. As Joji took the ring to inspect it, the ring disappeared, and he's shown inside an inner space, with TegaSword Red inquiring Joji about his wish, which initially scares him. But then, he thought that he didn't fully enjoy life despite living for so long, and that he always envies people who are free to have fun. Ultimately, Joji declared that he wanted to redo his youth and become a Party People. And so, Joji declared his wish: [Eternal Youth]. TegaSword agrees to Joji's wish and formed a contract with him by showering the elder man with Green Light.

As the light subsides, Joji found himself in his house once again. However, he's quick to find out that his body had been reverted back to that of 17 years old teenage boy. As he tries to process whether this is real, TegaSword would speak via a poster that fighting with his original body will be too difficult. Thus, if Joji wishes to retain the youth permanently, he needs to gather all the Sentai Rings. As young Joji shouts in excitement, the scene immediately flash cut to the original, elderly Joji from the previous episode. He stumbles as hunger took the best from him, prompting Hoeru to catch Joji before he could fall down. Weirdly enough, Joji deliriously requested somebody to feed him eggs...

At the Cafe Half Century, Ryugi presented Joji with TegaSword Omurice, which he eagerly finishes up as Hoeru, Saori, Rikuo, and Ryugi watches on. instantly, Joji's body is rejuvenated back into the 17 years old version, which intrigues Saori and bewildered the Gozyugers. Joji explained that his rejuvenation needs a lot of nutrients, and eggs happened to be the main key in it. Rikuo promptly asked Ryugi to bring Joji to Ryugi's father, who is a doctor. However, Ryugi bitterly resents his father, stating that his father will never believe in him. Joji promptly stands up and tells them he had no time to waste, since the very next day, he's shown enrolling into Nanba 1'st High School. Joji is about to introduce himself to the students, but he's bewildered to notice that one of his classmates is actually Futoshi! He promptly looked at his Gozyu Eagle ring and have an idea to hide his alter ego after remembering the moniker of Bald Eagle; "Birds of Prey / Take-Kin-Ji"; Thus, he reintroduces himself as Kinjiro Takehara.

Meanwhile, at an underground parking lot, Sumino is shown to spy on a High Ranked Prosecutor named Sakuraba. Once she makes her presence known, she starts inquiring Sakuraba about the disappearance case of Oto Ichikawa, Sumino's little sister. Turns out, Sakuraba didn't know about the said case, and instead maliciously looking at Sumino's Gozyu Unicorn Ring, before he transformed into Universe Warrior Ryusoul Red. Sumino's is about to transform into Gozyu Unicorn but failed due to unknown reasons. As Ryusoul Red charges at the defenseless Sumino, Tokonatsu Atami rushes to her aid, already transformed into Don Momotaro. The Two Universe Warriors then battle each other, with Don Momotaro gaining advantage despite Ryusoul Red's swordmanship skills. Don Momotaro quickly ends the battle using Timeranger Sentai Ring ability to Refreeze Ryusoul Red, defeating Sakuraba. With Ryusoulger Sentai Ring confiscated by Tokonatsu, Sakuraba's Silver TegaSword disintegrated, signaling his disqualification from the Ring Contract.

Sumino thanked Tokonatsu for his help, and Tokonatsu advises Sumino to not be reckless, since Sumino also had a family to care of ever since Oto's disappearance. The scenery shifted to Buraidan's base, with Fire Candle angrily inquired Bouquet about the progress of his King Candelor reparations. However, Bouquet snapped back at Fire Candle while holding the torn Rikuo's photograph. While Fire Candle are shocked by her unexpected violent side, Bouquet rambles about her Rikuo merchandises, which completely obliterated by TegaSword Blue, and by proxy, Gozyu Leon. Bouquet swears that Gozyu Leon have to suffer in return, before promptly have a mental breakdown over her ill fate. Fortunately, Shining Knife and Sweet Cake propose an idea to quickly gather the remaining Sentai Rings, summoning a pair of Golden Aryees called Star Five and Mitsuta Five.

During the high school break time, Kinjiro's new classmate Kageyama invites him to a welcoming party on the rooftop, despite the school rule to not enter there. Kinjiro berates him for breaking the rules for the student's safety, and Kageyama mocked Kinjiro in return by calling his personality similar to that of a Stubborn Geezer before leaving. While Kinjiro is stumped by his stern-outlook that hinders him to become a Party People, Futoshi comes to him while talking on how their surnames are the same. As Kageyama rested on the rooftop in boredom, someone asked him whether he wanted to Party, which he promptly agrees. However, he's late to realize that it's a trap laid by Buraidan, allowing Party People No.1 to took him as his host.

At the same time, the Two Takeharas took a walk at the riverside as Kinjiro asked how Futoshi (and by proxy, Their) family does nowadays. While slightly confused by the question, Futoshi filled in Kinjiro that his grandpa apparently ran away from home, although Futoshi paid it no mind since his grandpa is a strict and stubborn person and presumably didn't truly know how to have fun at all. Kinjiro snaps, telling Futoshi to stop being spoiled and that his job as a student should be work hard and visualize the future, asking his grandson if he has a dream. Futoshi admits that he doesn't and tells him to lay off before walking away from him. Kinjiro was disheartened and gave up his contract by throwing his ring to the river.

Kinjiro later talks with Hoeru about Futoshi, telling him that he did everything he could for his family, living a very disciplined life to provide for his family. Unexpectedly, Hoeru tells him that statement is in fact, showing his Egoism by citing how he wanted to live, not how to truly live as it is. Fortunately, Hoeru also cites that Kinjiro feeling for his family are real. Ultimately, Hoeru suggested that he need to tell them just that, else he'll regret it since no one know if He might never saw them again. Kinjiro thinks of his late wife and takes Hoeru's advice (though pretends he was going to do it anyway). He runs into Futoshi and tries to talk but Party People No.1 appeaars and begins his rampage, giving everyone he hits new "uncool" clothes and forcing them to dance. The Gozyugers besides Kinjiro are hit by the monster Beams, with Kinjiro saving Futoshi from being hit as well. Party People No.1 absorbs the participants that aren't having fun in a giant Disco Ball airborne, prompting the Gozyugers try to fight the Buraidan forces. However, their rings won't come off due to their hand getting locked in a swag pose!

Party People No.1 then approaches Futoshi, but Kinjiro jumps in and takes Futoshi to safety. Kinjiro proceeds to apologize for his words during their walk but the young man admits he was lying, and that he does have a dream but is worried about humiliation, so he doesn't tell anyone. Kinjiro thinks back to when his wife was her death bed, telling him to live how he wishes. He tells his grandson that he wants to be a party person and that following your dreams is nothing to be ashamed of before running off and facing Party People No.1 to show Futoshi that he won't give up his dream. He summons his ring and transforms into GozyuEagle. The final round of the Party People Battle begins between Party People No.1 and Kinjiro. Kinjiro begins the party by dancing and singing a retro song which confuses both Gozyugers and Party People No.1. But since GozyuEagle technically also having fun, Party People No.1 begins dancing too. Kinjiro uses this opening to summon EagleShooter50 and free the participants captured in Party People No.1 Disco Ball. With the curse gone, it also allows the other Gozyugers to transform.

The Gozyugers and Buraidan continue their battle with Party People No.1 and GozyuEagle fighting one on one. To add to the chaos, Ayayser Oxypetalum and Ayayser Banksia arrive and Hoeru battles them in TegaSword Red. Both the Ayaysers giving Hoeru trouble by alternately shoots him with streams of fire and ice, but he manages to hold on and shakes the ice that immobilized the Robo. Seeing that Both Ayaysers uses Projectile-based attacks, Rikuo takes control of TegaSword Red, configures it into TegaSword Blue and shoots them down before Ryugi hijacks TegaSword Blue, configures it into TegaSword Yellow and slams both Ayaysers to the ground. Ticked off that his fellow teammates interfere with his battle, Hoeru then regains control from Ryugi, configures it into TegaSword Red, and defeats the twin Ayaysers with TegaSword: Outlaw Breaker. Kinjiro soars through the skies and frees Kageyama before finishing Party People No.1 and being declared the Number One Party Person and winner of the battle.

Later, Futoshi appears to his dad, Shinji and tells him that he wants to go to art school and was worried that their disapproval would start a fight, so he thought it'd be better to throw it away. Unexpectedly, Shinji assures his son that he is rooting for him, claiming he will try to not be as stoic as his father, Joji. Kinjiro watches them warmly and hands a letter from himself to Futoshi, revealing that Joji is fine on his own, which greatly relieves Futoshi and Shinji. Futoshi says that when his grandfather comes back, he'll apologize before Kinjiro hugs them both and tells them that they can do it before leaving. As Kinjiro took his leave to truly begin his second chance of life in earnest, Futoshi seemingly realizes that Kinjiro is actually his grandpa, Joji.

The episode ends with Hoeru who have been watching Kinjiro from afar and thinks of his own family, looking at a photograph he had with a somber expression before walking away. Elsewhere, Sumino is shown at a rooftop, seeing the photo of her little sister, Oto from her phone and begged someone to give her back.
