A Red Light to Enlarging (巨大化に赤信号 Kyodaika ni Akashingō) is the fourth episode of Gekisou Sentai Carranger. It is the start of a two-part story involving a peculiar discovery by the Bowzock's Inventor Grotch and the creation of the Carrangers' Ranger Vehicles.
Synopsis[]
On a trip to Earth to sample the local delicacies, Inventor Grotch accidentally becomes a giant from something he ate, forcing the Carranger into a situation where they must create a means to fight larger threats.
Plot[]
On the Bowzock satellite craft, Zonnette tells Gynamo that she really wants "Earsh" to be a firework soon; but it turns out he's dreaming as the alien female is staring at the planet stating he's faking being asleep hitting on the head with a bottle. At the same time, Inventor Grotch laughs manically, disturbing the Bowzock leader and forcing him to confront his minion scaring him into submission.
Leaving his boss behind, Grotch departs for Earth in his own car where he states that Gynamo is so short-tempered that he had to run to the planet to get away from him. Feeling hunger pangs, Grotch realizes if he's on "Earsh", he needs to eat something delicious; spying Ichitaro in a nearby park, he decides to ask him what's tasty. Approaching the boy, Grotch is surprised when Ichitaro isn't scared of him only to get a delayed reaction making him upset that he made him cry and telling him he didn't want people to think he made him cry when Ichitaro states that's just what he did. Upset by it being his fault, he gets hit on the head by Ichitaro's stick as he runs off and making him use psychokinetic powers to trip him to the ground. Asking Ichitaro again, he asks about "the delicious food of Earsh", the boy stating there are a ton listing off things as Grotch pulls out a calculator to keep track, starting with "takoyaki" and then "fried chicken", "inarizushi" and "imo youkan", which Ichitaro states is about all there is. Ichitaro's mother soon finds her son surprising Grotch as she asks why he's talking to a stranger; Grotch takes offense by those words and grabs Ichitaro stating that the mother wants him safe, she leads him to all the food her son told the scientist about. (though mistaking "fried kitchen" for "Fried chicken") With no choice, the mother rushes to various stores buying takoyaki, fried chicken, inarizushi and imo youkan one after the other, rushing and giving them to him. With the food, Grotch starts scarfing them down one after another, making the mother and Ichitaro concerned. However after eating all the food, Grotch suddenly starts reacting strangely, mumbling and screaming as he suddenly grows into a giant, making the mother faint.
At the Pegasus Garage, Ichitaro rushes to his father and tells him that his mother was attacked by "a monster" and passed out, making him concerned and rush away from the facility. Dappu soon also appears stating that the Bowzock have appeared and ordering the Carranger to investigate, leading to the team to transform in response. Racing to the scene in the Speeder Machines, the Carranger discover Grotch wandering through the city wondering what happened to him while Ichitaro and the company president reach the mother in concern. The Carranger confront the giant Grotch as he states he's strong; blowing out a wind from his mouth as he stomps around shaking the ground. The team fire Auto Blasters at him but they don't work on Grotch, soon switching to Auto Punisher mode, he states it merely tickles while knocking down a billboard hitting them! Switching to the Giga Formula, they utilize the Formula Weapons but Grotch continues to blow out of his mouth blowing the team around. Red Racer and Yellow Racer try to hit Grotch while the others fire from a distance but he knocks them away again and grabs Kyosuke stating he's going to squash him, smashing him into a building with delight. Red Racer struggles before he's thrown to the ground, forcing them to switch to Formula Nova and fire it on him, but merely zapping Grotch in the butt making him merely itchy. With their options running low, even Dappu wonders if there's anything they can do. However, before the scientist can do anything further, he suddenly feels woozy again as the growth wears off, changing him back to normal size. This enrages the Carranger and Dappu, who are just about to beat him up for trying to scare them to death with his giant form when he gets saved by Zelmoda stating that Grotch should always have him around if he is to come to someplace unknown. Using his beam from the sword, Zelmoda and Grotch escape, making Dappu continue to worry about what happened.
On the Bowzock base, the gang is watching Zonnette jump rope as Gynamo gets confirmation of Grotch's method of defeating the Carranger; asking how, the scientist admits it's merely about enlarging their own. When Gynamo asks how they find that out, Grotch states they need to find the boy Ichitaro again; while Zonnette continues to desire the explosion of "Earsh". Gynamo summons his partner to assist Grotch: the Gorotsuki MM Mogu.
Back on Earth, Ichitaro is wandering around as Grotch appears before him again, only to be hit by a stick. However, MM Mogu restrains the boy, the scientist once again telling him to have his mother buy the same delicious food as before or else MM Mogu will eat him, forcing him to call his mother, only for his father (Company President Tenma) to answer and state that his mother can't handle it at this time but to take the same list as prior and purchase them: takoyaki, fried chicken, inarizushi and imo youkan.
In Pegasus Garage, Dappu worries that the Carranger as they are can't defeat an enlarged Bowzock member. Yoko wonders why Dappu doesn't just use Carmagic Power to fight, but Dappu states there's a limit to what Carmagic Power can do and that they can't just be defeated with that. As they wonder what to do, Naoki reasons that the only way to defeat a giant is to become a giant themselves, Minoru complimenting Blue Racer's brains. Pink Racer doesn't like the idea of growing large but Minoru states that's impossible; but Natsumi reasons that they can instead make something huge to fight it. Green Racer wonders how they can make something huge by themselves, making Red Racer look over their "dream car models" and stating that "nobody can make a great car better than they can" while they continue to think. Without warning, the five car models start to glow and the five Carmagic constellations appear to "merge together", making Dappu realize they may be able to pull something with this. He states that the car-shaped constellations can transform into something great with a pure spirit; when they become one, they'll become a fighting god, stating it's in "the second chapter of the Constellation Legend of Planet Hazard". Reasoning that the Carrangers' dream cars are the same shapes as the five constellations, he's certain it could work. Kyosuke wonders what he's talking about, but Dappu states that by dreaming with a pure mind, their dream cars will become large; and by combining them, they'll become a giant robot, surprising the team. Dappu believes the team can handle this as the Carranger place their hands on the dream cars, then combine their other hand with Dappu as the alien places his hand on the medallion and he tells them to imagine what they desire. The five Carranger concentrate their imaginations and their power together with Dappu, with the five Car Constellations and the five Carranger coming together allowing for mechanics to whirl and power to emerge, their minds aligning into the creation of the giant. The entire Pegasus Garage shakes until the team is knocked unconscious and thrown down. As the Carranger come to, they discover the five giant dream cars fully realized, making Dappu excited that they can finally fight the Bowzock with this power.
Back in the city, President Tenma rushes the "delicious food" to Grotch and MM Mogu; Grotch ordering the Gorotsuki to eat it all and grow large from it. The father and son back away as MM Mogu eats all the food together but has a headache where he suddenly becomes extremely tiny. Tenma and Ichitaro throw rocks as MM Mogu hides within Grotch as the two run away after their failure.
