The 100-Burst Human Fireworks (人間花火百連発 Ningen Hanabi Hyaku Renpatsu) is the forty-seventh episode of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger.
Synopsis[]
Sasuke must save a celebrated fireworks maker when he and his granddaughter are abducted by a Yokai to create special "human fireworks" meant to celebrate Daimaou.
Plot[]
On a windy day, an old man peeks through a warehouse door as he tells a group of kids to make a run for it; but as they do, a cloaked man appears before them wondering if they can before shooting them. Returning to the warehouse, the man identifies "Karatsu", stating he broke a promise and thus he'll take his granddaughter's life; Karatsu tries to negotiate as the cloaked man tells him to make a "firework with one-hundred continuous blasts!"
Elsewhere, several children are playing around a jungle gym as a girl appears nearby; they notice she looks similar to the "Little Match Girl" from the Hans Christian Andersen tale as the girl removes a match from a box and lights it up, making a Yokai named Kasha emerge from the flames. The Kakuranger hear their screaming as they see Kasha attacking children and the girl running away as the Yokai runs off with a boy. Sasuke rushes and finds the "Little Match Girl", wondering what she's doing there; she takes out her matches and reveals Kasha in the flame; as the other Kakuranger appear beside him, he tells them to be careful due to the strange presence alongside them. Kasha soon appears as he introduces himself as a pyromaniac who states he gets a rush and that he was captured after doing evil things with his fire; as Sasuke states he was reborn from Hell with the North Wind, making the Yokai admit he is correct. Kasha mentions that "fireworks are best launched in the frozen winter sky" before shooting at them leading to the team to transform and NinjaRed to try and attack before being launched back and the team shot at before the Yokai runs off.
After the battle, Sasuke asks who the girl is and she introduces herself as Nozomi Karatsu and asks them to save her grandpa! When asking who her grandfather is, she states it is "Ginjiro Karatsu", whom Sasuke acknowledges as the famed pyrotechnic and admitting that her grandfather's fireworks are the best in the world! However six months prior, the Karatsu fireworks factory exploded; Nozomi admits in the explosion, her father and mother were killed and her grandfather decided to get back into making fireworks himself. But after that, a man in a cape appeared and took her grandfather away; Nozomi waited and he didn't return until the cape man showed up again telling her to do as he says and gather children at his command for Ginjiro's safety, leading to her Little Match Girl outfit. Sasuke goes through the plot and wonders what Kasha wants with children; as the others show up and admit Kasha is too fast until Sasuke figures it out: human fireworks, piecing together that a fireworks maker and children are missing and Kasha wants "fireworks in the winter sky", and thus the idea that he'll put children in fireworks and fire them.
On the Skeleton Castle, Kasha talks to Daimaou about his plans of conquest; when Daimaou tries to hurry him, the Yokai states he wishes to launch human fireworks to light up the winter sky, making Daimaou admit to do it to get him out of this funk, the Yokai adding in he'll get the Kakuranger captured as well before becoming his disguise of "the cloaked man" and departing.
Sasuke and Nozomi return to where the cloaked man took her grandfather when they see him approaching by the steps. Sasuke tells her to stand back while approaching him, the two pass and Sasuke grabs the man, the two stare at each other as she looks at the confrontation as the do begin to fight, getting into a brutal battle on the steps as Sasuke gets knocked away, Nozomi trying to wake him as the cloaked man states he let her go so he could be lead to the Kakuranger for their capture.
Sasuke awakens chained up in a warehouse surrounded by Dorodoro; he uses his Doron Changer to alert the team as the cloaked man approaches him, turning into his true form of Kasha. Kasha states when he was sealed under Arctic ice as punishment for his crimes, he saw the Aurora Borealis, realizing how beautiful. Sasuke realizes this is how he came up with his human fireworks plot as Kasha admits he is going to launch him with the children in his plan, making him excited. Ginjiro is carried out and Sasuke identifies him while stating that Nozomi was worried for him. Ginjiro states he wanted to surprise people with his winter fireworks and thought this was the first step of re-establishing himself not realizing this was part of Kasha's trap. Kasha states it's too late to cry while telling them he brought them there to make human fireworks, confirming Kasha was behind the murder of Nozomi's parents, making the fireworks maker shocked and Sasuke swear vengeance before the Yokai knocks him away. The Dorodoro bring the children into the factory as Kasha strikes them with a beam turning them tiny, including Sasuke, which he orders Ginjiro to put into his fireworks. When he refuses, Kasha soon brings out Nozomi, telling him to hurry and do it in fear of shrinking her as she's strangled, forcing him to follow.
Soon, the children and Sasuke are placed in the vats of fireworks set up by Ginjiro as he sets them up for his grand display alongside the Dorodoro and to his granddaughter's fear. With them finished, Kasha knocks them away while setting up his means to set off 100 fireworks, including a Kakuranger among them, to light up the winter sky! The Dorodoro set them up for launch, making the sky dark as the fuse it lit and the other Kakuranger rush to try and save their teammate, being blocked by the Yokai's attack. The team screams as the fireworks go off, exploding in the night sky with the children and Sasuke within, making Kasha excited! However without warning, Sasuke appears stating it's too early to celebrate; as he wonders what's going on, the characters for "Idiot" appear in the sky as it lightens up, angering the Yokai as he asks how he escaped. Sasuke states he let him capture him as the other Kakuranger swapped out the fireworks with Sasuke and the others and saved everyone in the process. Angering Kasha, the Kakuranger transform and charge; Kasha releases his "Blazing Wheel" towards the team but they bury underground with Jiraiya attacking him from beneath and the others following suit, becoming struck with the Dance of Origami Cranes and Hikarimaru's Lightning Cut, forcing him to use the Yoki Cloud. The team summon Kakure Daishogun as Kasha uses his Flaming Wheel again, becoming struck until Ninjaman arrives being struck by the warrior's sword. Ninjaman states hes' better remaining in the ice but Kasha calls him a novice, leading to him to become Samuraiman and unleashing the Samurai Rage Bomber and hit by the Iron Fist Flying finish of Super Kakure Daishogun, making him blown up by his own fireworks cannon!
Later, Ginjiro apologizes to Nozomi who tells him to not leave her alone as they embrace. Sasuke states he can't wait for more of Ginjiro's fireworks to light up the sky next summer.
