Ep. 43: Kuon's Decisive Battle! A Present From an Angel (決戦クオン！天使からの贈り物(プレゼント), Kessen Kuon! Tenshi Kara no Purezento) is the forty-third episode of No.1 Sentai Gozyuger. It features the only appearance of TegaJune Garyudo, Kuon's physical death and revival as the GaryuDecalibur50, and the redemptions of Queen TegaJune and Mr. Shining Knife & Mrs. Sweet Cake.

Synopsis

In the Christmas-themed TegaSword Village, the Gozyugers seem to be having fun. But only Hoeru looks gloomy, thinking about Kuon, who absorbed TegaJune. The brothers used to write wishes together happily at Christmas, but now they must fight as enemies. Hoeru and Kuon finally face off in their final showdown! Meanwhile, the other Gozyugers engage in fierce battles with the Bridan generals...!

At that moment, GoodeBurn recalls TegaJune's sorrowful expression in the No One World and wonders if there's anything he can do...!?

Plot

On one Christmas many years ago, young Hoeru and Hisamitsu Tono write down their wishes for Christmas on stars. Hisamitsu shows Hoeru his many wishes, while Hoeru shows his only one to him.

Back in the present, Fire Candle, Mr. Shining Knife and Mrs. Sweet Cake confront Kuon and learn that he absorbed Queen TegaJune. Fire Candle gets angry and charges at him, but is frozen in place. The queen speaks to him from inside Kuon's body and warns him to not defy her, while Kuon sends him flying. He asks his now-subordinates for help with solving his familial matters.

The Gozyugers are preparing the Christmas decorations

At TegaSword Village, the Gozyugers are busy decorating a Christmas tree, which Ryugi completes with a TegaSword figurine on top. Sumino and Kinjiro learn that Aoi wants to give his mother a present, but doesn't know what to give her. Kinjiro asks Hoeru for his opinion, but he's too concerned about Kuon to answer.

Meanwhile, Rikuo lays the sleeping Bouquet down at the Robo Graveyard. But TegaSword is opposed to letting her stay because she's a Bridan, and Rikuo and Mashiro call him out for it. GoodeBurn remembers how sad TegaJune looked when he was with her, and wonders if there's anything he could do to help her. A screen showing the café pops up, so GoodeBurn hears Kinjiro offering Aoi to make something homemade for his mother, and gets an idea on how to make his own happy.

Aoi rushes to inform Hoeru that Saori has been kidnapped

Outside, Saori and Aoi walk with shopping bags, and the boy invites his mother to the Gozyugers' Christmas party. Suddenly, Kuon corners them and marks them as his prey. A crying Aoi runs to Hoeru and tells him that Kuon kidnapped Saori. Hoeru tries to cheer Aoi up with a silly face, and then walks away, promising to save Saori and return safely.

The Gozyugers confront Kuon and Bridan

The main five Gozyugers meet Kuon and the other Bridans in a cave. Kuon reveals that he absorbed Saori into himself, and with a swift hand motion, transforms into the powered-up TegaJune Garyudo.

TegaJune Garyudo

Hoeru transforms into Wild GozyuWolf to face his brother, while his teammates join him to fight with Fire Candle, Shining Knife, Sweet Cake and the Combatant Ai. Rikuo and Sumino defeat some Ai before fighting with Fire Candle, who asks them to return Bouquet. They tell him that it was Bouquet's choice and that her bond with Rikuo is much closer than he thinks. Ryugi and Kinjiro face Shining Knife and Sweet Cake, and ask them why they keep on fighting even though TegaJune is gone. They answer that they're Bridans and that's it, and Kinjiro responds that he doesn't hate them, but will fight them with everything he's got if he has no other choice.

Hoeru and Kuon clashing once and for all

Meanwhile, Hoeru keeps fighting Kuon, who blames him for getting trapped in No One World. He tells Hoeru that as long as he's filled with rage, he could never return things to how they were. He uses the Goseiger Sentai Ring to summon a clone of Gosei Red and immediately turns it into a storm of feathers that's similar to a Explosion Gosei Card and launches it at Hoeru. He then summons TegaJune from his mantle and states his intention to destroy Hoeru.

GoodeBurn crochets a scarf for TegaJune

Hoeru and Kuon continue fighting while TegaJune shoots at the former. Mashiro and GoodeBurn arrive just in time to fight her. TegaSword also asks the Gozyugers for help, so Ryugi and Rikuo board him and form RyoTegaSword with their personal weapons as arms. Fire Candle also boards King Candelor to help TegaJune, so RyoTegaSword starts fighting with him. TegaJune faces GoodeBurn and starts hitting him in a berserk state. He and Mashiro realize that Kuon's influence has made her stronger. TegaSword tells GoodeBurn to retreat, but he approaches his mother and creates a red stripe of energy. The stripe wraps around TegaJune's neck and materializes into a scarf.

TegaJune finally seeing the light

TegaJune gets confused, so GoodeBurn explains that it's a present he knitted for her overnight. She falls to her knees and TegaSword shoots fireworks to the sky, creating the words "Merry Christmas". He stands close to TegaJune and GoodeBurn and tells him that he's proud, referring to him by his new name and not as TegaNagure for the first time. TegaJune is calmed down by the scarf's warmth, closes her eyes and smiles. On the ground, Mr. Shining Knife and Mrs. Sweet Cake realize that TegaJune was lonely all this time. Kinjiro and Sumino attack them from behind. The former tells them that he's looking forward for the day they could meet and drink tea as friends, and the married duo realize that it's not a bad idea before collapsing.

Hoeru defeats Kuon and obtains the 12 Rings from him

Meanwhile, Hoeru and Kuon attack each other and detransform. Kuon tells Hoeru that he was jealous at how comfortable he was even when life went bad for him. Despite being stronger and smarter and achieving much more in his life that Hoeru did, Kuon still felt something was missing, and decided to beat Hoeru to replace him. Hoeru apologizes for making Kuon follow him to No One World, but Kuon refuses to forgive him. They stand back up and transform again, and then use their finishers on each other. Hoeru uses his Finish Finger on Kuon to rescue Saori, defeats him and collects all 12 of his Sentai Rings (J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai, Denziman, Goggle-V, Dynaman, Changeman, Maskman, Liveman, Turboranger, Fiveman, Dekaranger, Goseiger, and Ninninger), winning their battle. Kuon remembers Hoeru's Christmas wish from years ago: To have fun with his older brother.

Kuon sacrificed himself to save Hoeru from Fire Candle's attack

Outside, Fire Candle thinks TegaSword and GoodeBurn are tricking TegaJune and warns her about it. She tells him she can no longer fight and thanks him for his service, and opens a portal to suck King Candelor back to No One World. Desperate to not end their battle like this, Fire Candle shoots fireballs from King Candelor's hands before being pulled into the portal. One fireball flies down towards Hoeru, but to his shock, Kuon shields him and takes the fatal hit! Kuon tells Hoeru he forgives him, and laments on how they couldn't spend more time together before dying. Hoeru lets a howl of sorrow which is heard by his teammates.

Back at the Robo Graveyard, Bouquet wakes Queen TegaJune up. The queen tries to walk away with the intention of dying to atone for her evil doings, but GoodeBurn stops her and calls her mom, shocking her. TegaSword tells her that they should be with each other for the sake of GoodeBurn and the world. Mr. Shining Knife and Mrs. Sweet Cake arrive and tell her that they all should find a new path in life. Bouquet asks TegaJune if it'd be alright if she lived in the human world, and the queen agrees. TegaSword and GoodeBurn agree to let her stay in the Robo Graveyard, and the latter is overjoyed at his family's reunion.

Kuon returns as the GaryuDeacalibur50

At TegaSword Village, Aoi gives Saori a drawing of herself as his Christmas present for her. Saori gives him sports shoes. Mashiro asks where Rikuo and Sumino are, so Ryugi explains that the former is spending the holiday with Bouquet and the latter with her sister, Oto. Aoi thanks Hoeru for saving his mom, but Hoeru, again, is saddened about Kuon's death. Suddenly, he hears his brother's voice, and is welcomed by Kuon, who's now been turned into a black sword! TegaSword explains that he revived Kuon, but also punished him for his crimes as a Bridan, and will restore him to his human form once he fully atones for them. Kuon, now the GaryuDecalibur50, starts chasing Hoeru around the café, while the other Gozyugers, Saori and Aoi begin their Christmas party.

Fire Candle is now the only Bridan member left

Fire Candle is left at the dark Ring Case Castle, lighting candles to make some light. Still loyal to Bridan's original cause, he laments their defeat and swears revenge.
