Obular Demonic Transformation (オブラー悪魔変身 Oburā Akuma Henshin) is the third episode of Choju Sentai Liveman. It features the mutation of Doctor Obular into Monster Obular.
Synopsis[]
Jou shows doubt in facing down his old friend Gou as he prepares to use a virus to evolve into the ultimate being.
Plot[]
Doctor Obular and Bias talk about a experiment Obular wants to do. Bias thinks his expirement is necessary but Obular should be his own test subject.
The new Brain Beast: Virus Brain attacks an innocent teenager and injects her a virus. Virus Brain and Obular attack another man, who tries to defend himself, but he gets the injected with the virus and is turned into a monster. The Liveman arrive with their new Moto Machines to stop them. Virus Brain and Obular was able to escape, but Red Falcon was able to destroy a bottle on Virus Brain's head. They take a sample to analyze it.
In the Gran Tortoise, Colon informs the Liveman that the virus changes the human body, but there is also a cure against that virus so long as they can prevent it from being transmitted to anyone else within two hours. Yusuke remembered that two years ago while training in the Academy Gym, he suggested Gou (Doctor Obular's human name) work out to attract the attention of women. Gou responded by remarking about the fragility, weakness, and pitifulness of the human body, especially in the wake of something like viruses. Yusuke realizes that Gou is attempting to research his virus theory, even at the cost of his own humanity.
The Liveman decide to search for Obular. They find Obular, but he's already infected with the virus. While Yusuke and Megumi fight against Jinmmers, Jou finds Gou. Jou helps Gou because he's in pain and gets him to safety. However, Yusuke wants vengeance for the Academia Island massacre and doesn't want Gou to be saved. Jou explains that when Jou first enrolled, Gou wanted to save a litlte dog that was drowning despite forgetting that he couldn't swim; Jou saved Gou. Jou wants Gou to return to the man who would save puppies. Yusuke warns Jou that Gou might be too late to be saved. Virus Brain and Jinmmers arrive in the forest, prompting Jou to run away with Gou. Yusuke remarks to Megumi that Jou has really inconvenienced them, but Megumi says she's used to it by now.
Jou gets Obular some water from a river, but Obular is already mutating with claws emerging from his fingertips and toes as well as a monstrous maw. The mutated Obular says that he was biding his time and fooling Jou all along, and that saving the dog was a mistake. Obular can't let Jou live with the knowledge that he was once the type to save dogs before mutating further beyond the point of recognition. Megumi, Yusuke, Mazenda and Kemp arrive. Obular lectures Mazenda and Kemp about their attachments to the human form, which he has fully abandoned. He proclaims himself to have the greatest brain and smartest creature while Jou pleads for his lost friend The Liveman transform and Obular commands his Jinmmers to attack them. Yellow Lion attempts to challenge Obular 1-on-1, but he regenerates all the damage he takes from the Live Blaster.
The Liveman destroy the Virus Brain with a triple Live Blaster volley leading into the Biomotion Buster. Gash makes Virus Brain grow with the Giga Phantom. Colon raises the Gran Tortoise and dispatches the Machine Buffalo along with a volley of its missiles. Live Robo is formed by the Live Machines and defeats Virus Brain with the Super Live Crash sword attack.
Jou takes his rage out by tossing cans into the river. When Megumi and Yusuke arrive, he apologizes for his naivete - if he had finished off Gou earlier, they would have one less terrible enemy to deal with. Yusuke tells him that no one else could have done anything differently, and unfortunately the Brain Army has much more advanced science than the Livemen. Megumi asks what could have made their personalities change so drastically.
