Yusuke and Kemp's Promise!! (勇介とケンプの約束!! Yūsuke to Kenpu no Yakusoku!!) is the thirty-fifth episode of Choju Sentai Liveman.
Synopsis[]
Yusuke and Kemp return to Academia Island to see how far they've come and settle old scores as promised four years prior.
Plot[]
The Livemen are in Gran Tortoise. Yusuke checks the calendar app on a computer. Jou observes that tomorrow is October 29th, and Megumi idly says that Volt will likely be becoming more offensive over the next few weeks. Depressed, Yusuke wanders away to the rocky beach. The others follow him, asking him what's the deal with October 29th.
In a flashback to four years ago, Yusuke and Kenji Tsukigata (Kemp) discussthe applications of their research. Tsukigata plans on curing diseases while Yusuke wants to research in space. They make a friendly competition to achieve their dreams and promise to meet on future October 29ths at the Academia Island signature statue.
Tetsuya is upset to learn of this deal, claiming that it violates his trust Yusuke if Yusuke thinks he can trust Kemp. Junichi agrees.
Meanwhile, Doctor Kemp creates Guild Brain and tests him out on holograms of Yusuke, promising that today will be his grave.
At Academia Island, Yusuke remarks that today will be the final showdown between him and Kemp. The Livemen return to Gran Tortoise and learn from Colon that Yusuke left for Academia Island at dawnbreak. Junichi and Tetsuya no longer trust Yusuke to avenge their brothers, and storm off. Colon cries, Megumi wonders what to do, and Jou curses Yusuke for being an idiot.
Yusuke leaves flowers on the graves of Mari Aikawa and Takuji Yano. As he prays, Kemp rises from the bushes. The two chat about their agreement and dreams. Kemp remarks that his dream has always remained the same - fame and power. Meanwhile, Tetsuya and Junichi watch from the long grass.
Kemp announces that it is time for Yusuke to die, and commands Guild Brain to attack. Guild Brain strikes Yusuke in the arm, and Yusuke subsequently loses a lot of blood. He falls into the ruins of Academia and Guild Brain continues his assault. Yusuke tells Kemp he just wants to duel Kemp one last time, but Kemp still relies on Guild Brain. Tetsuya and Junichi decide it's finally time to intervene. They apologize for losing faith in Yusuke, and Tetsuya avows his personal revenge on Kemp, who attacks them all. Luckily, Yellow Lion and Blue Dolphin are there to take the brunt of his Split Cutter attacks and advise that they will take out Guild Brain. The Jinmmer arrive and the Livemen transform.
Red Falcon duels Beauty Beast Kemp. After trading sword attacks, they take turns blasting each other through the ruins of Academia, before moving to rocks by the sea. Guild Brain unleashes a barrage that pushes Yusuke and Kemp into the ocean.
Bias summons Guild Brain back to Brain Base, and orders Guild Brain to find and kill Yusuke, explicitly not caring if Kemp also dies. Ashura considers mutiny against Bias, but Mazenda convinces him otherwise.
Yusuke awakens on a stony shore with Doctor Kemp unconscious next to them. Yusuke remembers all of the bloodshed Kemp caused, especially on Academia, and tries to choke him out, but finds that he can't attack Kemp while he's defenseless. Kemp wakes back up and asks why Yusuke didn't just kill him. Kemp brandishes his sword and prepares to fight him again, the duel now moving to a forest. Guild Brain follows, but can't get a good lineup in his sights. Mazenda chastises him for taking too long, and Guild Brain fires but misses. Kemp notices Guild Brain and wonders what has happened to his Brain Beast, and Mazenda unveils herself, relaying Bias's message that Yusuke must die even if Kemp dies in the crossfire. Yusuke tries to convince Kemp that Bias is using him as a pawn, but he refuses to believe this. Mazenda laughs.
The other four Livemen meet back up at the graves of Mari and Takuji, unable to find Yusuke. Colon contacts them, telling them that she's pinpointed a Brain Beast signal to an uninhabited island 10km northeast of Academia. Blue Dolphin takes the other Livemen in her Aqua Dolphin.
Yusuke battles Mazenda and Guild Brain. Kemp tells them to stop, telling them that he'll personally eliminate Yusuke. However, before he can strike, Aqua Dolphin splash-lands on the beach. Blue Dolphin and Yellow Lion blast him away with their Double Live Blaster attack. Yusuke transforms into Red Falcon and Kemp transforms back into Beauty Beast Kemp. Once again, Blue Dolphin and Yellow Lion focus Guild Brain, though Black Bison and Green Sai now duel Mazenda. Yusuke duels Kemp with both sword and blaster. After blasting Kemp, Yusuke taunts Kemp and says he'll beat the evil thoughts out of Kemp's head, continuing his assault with the Falcon Sabre. Kemp hides, projecting a forcefield and returning to Brain Base.
Guild Brain is now center-stage. While Red Falcon is still bewildered by Beauty Beast Kemp's sudden disappearance, Blue Dolphin pierces Guild Brain with a Dolphin Arrow and Yellow Lion follows up with Lion Bazooka. The Livemen summon the Biomotion Buster. Guild Brain is reduced to his scrapmetal components and circuitry... But Gash arrives to revive and enlarge him with Giga Phantom.
Green Sai and Black Bison call in the Sai Fire and Bison Liner.They combine with"Boxer Dimension" to form the Live Boxer. Guild Brain tries to duel him with blades, but LiveBoxer punches him instead. Momentarily overwhelmed, Red Falcon calls in LiveRobo and they combine with Super Live Dimension to form Super Live Robo. Guild Brain is no match for Super Live Robo, being knocked down before ultimately succumbing to a Super Big Burst.
Doctor Kemp awakens on the floor of Brain Base. Bias tells him his performance was pitiful. Kemp promises to atone for this loss by killing Yusuke, and Bias tells him that Yusuke and Kemp must resume fighting and not cease until one of them perishes.
On the beach, Yusuke gives his final goodbye to Kemp's previous human persona of Kenji Tsukigata, vowing that he will bury him.
