The Traitorous Signalman (裏切りの信号野郎 Uragiri no Shingō Yarō) is the thirty-fifth episode of Gekiso Sentai Carranger. It is the beginning of a two-part story involving the return of Signalman, but transformed due to the influence of a mysterious wire-puller.
Synopsis[]
Signalman returns to Earth, but has suddenly turned evil under a mysterious influence, ignoring all his previous friendships and entering a rampage over a personal trauma.
Plot[]
At Pegasus Garage, the five workers are playing Rock-Paper-Scissors that Kyosuke wins; until it turns out that the others matched and he was the odd one out even with him as paper and the other rock! The four "winners" state their bento choices: Yoko salmon, Natsumi fried chicken, Minoru and Naoki hamburger, and Dappu another salmon, surprising Kyosuke that the alien wants to join in too and how he was tricked into buying lunch as he tries to keep track.
On the Baribarian, the Bowzock go over their past failures as the Health Bowzock and Devil Bowzock, the changes not helping them beat the Carranger. Zelmoda hits one of his men as he states that since they can't defeat the Carranger, changing their name is the only comfort Gynamo has now. Grotch pronounces their new name for the week, but there is nothing there; Gynamo laughs as he states he thought it over but couldn't come up with a good name. Zonnette states she doesn't care about that but that she is hungry, making Gynamo decide to get a bento for her.
On Earth, Kyosuke goes through the bento list adding in his own special as he sees Ichitaro standing in front of Signalman's Kobaan Base, which is now covered in cobwebs. Kyosuke realizes he's waiting for Signalman's return as he contemplates what the officer is doing and if he won the three-legged race with his son on his homeworld before realizing he had to get the bento. At the food truck, Kyosuke orders the bento as he tries for the daily special until he changes his mind for the makenouchi; until he hears a noise and the arrival of a new Gorotsuki: GG Boon, Bowzock's best errand master coming for four yakiniku bento throwing Kyosuke out of the way! Kyosuke yells at him for pulling this while he was ordering and lacking common sense as GG Boon punches him into the truck, leading to the two fighting in front of the bento truck as Red Racer realizes he's so hungry he doesn't have any more energy to fight! He tells the Gorotsuki to put a pause in their battle as he rushes to transform while GG Boon completes his purchase of the bento for the Bowzock, getting his change as he contemplates pocketing 580 of the 760 yen change to save money as Red Racer pops in front of him for cutting in line! The Gorotsuki puts the bento down as he kicks Kyosuke and beats him up, leading to the two to brawl and throws Kyosuke down, the Ranger claiming he can't fight even after transforming due to his hunger!
Kyosuke tries to summon his teammates, but he hears Signalman's approach, stating that it's good timing as the officer drives his Policepeeder right into him, shocking even GG Boon as he realizes that the space police has hit a hero of justice! As Signalman emerges with his helmet and chest lights now covered in black, Kyosuke wonders why the officer is attacking him as Signalman silences him and points his Signizer at Red Racer, only to be stopped by the bento salesman stating he's interfering with his job and they should take the battle elsewhere; only for Signalman to attempt to shoot the salesman with Red Racer blocking the attack! Signalman tells Red Racer that he admires him for taking the attack on the salesman as Kyosuke states they should take the battle elsewhere, forcing him to leave as GG Boon chases them down. Red Racer asks why Signalman wants to attack, but the officer tells him to "place his hand over his heart and think about it", making him do so as Signalman asks if he understands; when Kyosuke says he doesn't, the officer attacks him, kicking him and punching him forcing him to attack. Kyosuke asks if something happened on planet Police but the officer defies answer as he hits him, stating that thanks to the Carranger, something happened to his son Sigtarou; as Kyosuke shows confusion, Signalman states he's faking ignorance as he attacks with an explosion from his baton knocking Red Racer down and stating he'll defeat the Carranger by his own hands! Kyosuke takes out the Navic Shot and binds Signalman but it disperses by the time Kyosuke runs away as GG Boon laughs on the side.
At the garage, the Carranger are weak as they wonder where Kyosuke is with lunch and ask Naoki to check, but Blue Racer is too weak with hunger. Kyosuke staggers into the garage before collapsing in pain. On the Baribarian, Zonnette shows aggravation at GG Boon being late with her bento as Gynamo asks her to wait longer. Grotch states that the Gorotsuki is on the phone as he states it's no time for bento as he discovered Signalman fighting the Carranger, making Gynamo laugh while the Gorotsuki states he'll team up with the officer to defeat the Sentai squad.
Elsewhere, Ichitaro is taking part in a soccer game as he sees Signalman returning, but the officer keeps driving towards the boy without stop trying to ram into him! The officer turns around to try again as he pursues Ichitaro and the kids, the officer telling them to run as he tells them to call the Carranger to help them. At the garage, Kyosuke is telling the others about Signalman's attack and his threat to the Carranger, admitting he's not joking on this but the others don't believe him and Naoki keeps asking about lunch. Ichitaro rushes in stating that Signalman is attacking children.
Signalman keeps chasing after the children with the Policepeeer telling them to cry out more as the Carranger arrive, telling the kids to run. Signalman grasps his fists together as he tells them he'll avenge Sigtarou as he throws a sword at them then fires the Signizer making the team understand Kyosuke was correct and wonder what happened and why he wants to "avenge Sigtarou". Signalman charges towards the team, slashing at them and attacking with ferocity as Kyosuke tries to remember them as friends that fight together for justice, but the officer states that was long ago as he keeps attacking and slashes Red Racer down. He asks the team if they understand even a little about Sigtarou's suffering, confusing the team as he attacks with Signizer zapping them, making the team wonder what happened. As Signalman explains, he was hoping to do the three-legged race with his son but when he returned to Police, he finds out from his wife Sigue that it was covered in the exhaust gas of the vehicles the Carranger drive around "Earsh", shocking the Rangers as Red Racer states their cars don't emit any emissions! Signalman asks then what the "five colored gases" covering planet Police are, the gases inhaled by Sigtarou making him and many others on the planet sick and leading to the sports day to be canceled! The incident angered Signalman as he becomes infected by the gas as well, transforming him into the darker form that wants to defeat the team by his own hands! Kyosuke states this may be a trap set up by someone to make the Carranger and the officer fight but Signalman silences them as he fires the Signizer in the air shooting them down to the ground.
Kyosuke instructs the team to fight, but GG Boon suddenly appears hitting the Carranger in the distraction and tossing them about. Signalman asks the Gorotsuki who he is as it states he's here to help defeat the Carranger as he summons his "pocketed change attack" towards the team, Signalman giving him thanks for helping as GG Boon tells him to leave the rest to him. Red Racer summons the Giga Booster and the team fire the Booster Cannon that the Gorotsuki takes and falls to the ground. Zelmoda soon shows up stating he wants to chat with Signalman and takes him aside as GG Boon eats Imocho imo youkan to grow into a giant, making the team summon Victrailer and the VRV Machines and form VRV Robo. GG Boon throws out more of his Pocket Change Attack with giant coins which the mech withstands as he starts attacking with ferocity but is easily handled and punched away long enough to be destroyed by the Victory Twister.
On the Baribarian, Zonnette gripes about her hunger as she decides to "eat" Gynamo, dusting him with salt and pepper and biting down until Zelmoda shows up with Signalman into the BB Saloon. Gynamo welcomes Signalman to the bar. On Earth, Ichitaro shows sadness as he writes "I hate you, Signalman, very much" on the Kobaan Base as he runs away from the Pegasus Garage workers. The team wonders where Signalman went to; while on the Baribarian, the officer makes a deal with Gynamo to defeat the Carranger together.
Yet as the new villain alliance is formed, a massive gold-headed giant appears beside the Baribarian, stating that with Signalman and the Bowzock united, things are going well.
