The Village of Amanojaku (あまのじゃく村 Amanojaku Mura) is the thirty-third episode of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger.
Synopsis[]
The Kakuranger reach a village where Sasuke's cousin has unknowingly released a cruel Yokai using its tricks to make its people become deceitful to one another.
Plot[]
The forests echo with a song as a Yokai walks alongside a temple before kicking a bag into Nekomaru. Opening the bag, the Kakuranger discover a cat wondering why it was in there and decide to take it with as they head to eat some mushrooms in this remote part of Japan. The team follow the signs to the temple but soon nearly drive off a cliff, stopping at the edge as they realize someone changed the signs! The team soon see several people praying in a rear view mirror whom they ask for help, but the men push the van off the cliff towards their doom, only for Nekomaru to fly them out of danger into safety. Sasuke yells at the strange people wondering why they'd do that.
Arriving at a police station that states they're both "open and closed for business", the officer states it's not his duty to investigate the strange people; when Sasuke asks why, the officer tells them to ask someone else while asking if they like persimmons to eat. A woman appears from within offering persimmons that Seikai gives out to the team, but they all realize they were bitter making the officer and woman laugh.
Later as the team arrive at the temple, a boy rushes by them, Sasuke recognizes him as Kosuke, his cousin as the two head to see the head of the temple, who welcomes them to the area. Sasuke asks if the people in the village are acting strange, but the head states he has no idea what he's talking about. He notices several villagers with strange mushrooms, which the temple head states he found and tells them to put in the barn. The other Kakuranger search for matsutake mushrooms, but Seikai is soon caught by a rope trap; the others wonder what he's doing but the strange villagers cut him down from the trees before attacking them with their utensils, making the team realize they're acting odd. Sasuke heads through the woods and hears a strange whistle, catching a staff as he is confronted by the Yokai Amanojaku, forcing him to transform. He throws his Red Slicer but it's blocked as the Yokai vanishes as Sasuke heads to the temple where the Yokai, who is supposed to be nailed to the ground, is no longer there. Sasuke wonders if he's vanished but he realizes someone there, turning out to be Kosuke. Sasuke suspects he knows something; Kosuke reveals when he was cleaning the path to the temple, he heard a voice of the nailed Yokai, stating he wouldn't cause trouble anymore and to do him a favor. Amanojaku claims he's changed and will help others now and asks him to move the iron pole to help him out, which the boy does releasing the Yokai from his imprisonment. Once free, Amanojaku states the people who come here make fun of him and it's his turn to make them feel sorry while telling the boy to not tell anyone he did this. Sasuke reasons that's why Kosuke invited him while reasoning that the people changed due to Amanojaku. Kosuke states the villagers all changed due to the new mushrooms that the temple head discovered and that's how it all changed, forcing the two of them to investigate the barn. In the Yokai Mansion, Daimaou tempts Amanojaku to work off it's grudge by embarrassing the people of this village as the Yokai states he'll turn everyone perverse with the mushrooms.
In the barn, Sasuke and Kosuke discover the mushrooms; Jiraiya eats one but starts suddenly laughing perversely in a high before attacking his teammate, knocking him out of the building! Jiraiya knocks Sasuke through the temple structure before he suddenly stops and falls down, making Sasuke realize there's poison in the mushroom and it had run it's course. Tsuruhime and Kosuke help Jiraiya up as Sasuke realizes the mushrooms are being used to perverse the village; making people act the opposite as they usually would due to Amanojaku's cultivation of them. Kosuke wonders if the temple head is part of this; Sasuke reasons the temple head may be Amanojaku in disguise, making the boy rush away in a panic. He heads to a beachside where the Oshou is offering Saizou and Seikai the mushrooms as better than matsutake, the boy yelling at them to not eat them before throwing rocks at the priest, revealing him as Amanojaku! The Yokai wonders how he figured it out; but Kosuke asks where the real temple head is; the Yokai stating he already killed him and also reveals he didn't make the boy eat the mushrooms as thanks for letting him go and feels betrayed for treating him like this. However, Sasuke kicks the Yokai away from Kosuke as he reveals what happened to the temple head and he won't forgive him; the Yokai wonders if he's just getting it as Sasuke swears vengeance and the team transforms to fight him and revealing his identity to Kosuke.
The team fight off a platoon of Dorodoro sent by Amanojaku as Sasuke fights the Yokai, who uses a Youjutsu to fire the Kakulaser at him. Kosuke charges at the Yokai hitting him but Amanojaku grabs him and takes him away as Tsuruhime tells him to pursue. NinjaRed tells Amanojaku to let Kosuke go as they return to the cliffside; the Yokai tells him to not waste time and he'll return to the temple to his place in the statue and he'll throw his staff away as proof of his promise while giving him back Kosuke. However it was a trap as he breathes fire towards both of them, throwing Sasuke off the cliff; the Yokai stating it's his "Trick Strike" and Sasuke is a fool. But NinjaRed reclimbs the cliff with his ninja power and then uses Hikarimaru to use the Lighting Cut to defeat the Yokai. Resorting to the Yoki Cloud to grow, Sasuke tells Kosuke to run, but the boy continues to throw rocks at the giant Yokai who tries to electrocute him and throws him off the cliff, forcing Sasuke to use God Saruder to catch him and affirms him for his good job before deciding to handle the rest. Kakure Daishogun with the other Kakuranger soon arrives with Sasuke rejoining as the arm allowing for them to finish the Yokai off with Iron Fist Flying Finish Saruder Special, the red fist smashing into him over and over and then God Saruder using his Twin Sword Cut to defeat Amanojaku once and for all, the Yokai admitting his plan had failed. Sasuke meets up with his nephew to make sure he's alright.
Later, the team discover the real Oshou hidden in a cave alive, thanking Kosuke for saving him. Tsuruhime then reveals the cat, revealing it as Kosuke's cat Tama as the team departs the village on their journey.
