The Hateful, Stylish Thief (憎いおしゃれ泥棒 Nikui Oshare Dorobō) is the thirty-third episode of Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan.
Synopsis[]
A girl who can't stand the work of her tailor mother learns to appreciate what she does after she's abducted by a fashionable Monger who sees her work as ideal for Queen Hedrian.
Plot[]
Queen Hedrian is looking for new fashion. Unfortunately, she disapproves of the clothes produced by Black Magma's "official" tailor, Crab Monger. He tells him that he is only good for dancing for her amusement.
Misa takes her dress to tailor Kazuko Oota.
That night, Crab Monger roams the streets and breaks into Kazuko's shop.
Crab Monger presents the clothes to Queen Hedrian, who is in love with them. Crab Monger is ecstatic, having seemingly secured his royal position, but Queen Hedrian knows these stores are too new and well-made to be his work, and dismisses him from his position. She demands that Kazuko Oota be made her new tailor.
The next morning, Kazuko awakes to find her shop ransacked. Her daughter, Yuki quickly sneaks away and hides the clothes her mother made for her.
Sun Vulcan arrives and investigates the shop. While Kazuko converses with Misa about having lost her dress, Yuki asks her mother if she can have some store-bought clothes, but is dismissed. Kazuko laments that she'll have to break the bad news to her other customers.
Crab Monger attacks again, and the Zero Girls kidnap Kazuko in their automobile. Crab Monger melts some tools with his crab foam. The team tries to keep their distance from his huge scissors.
Amazon Killer informs Kazuko that she is now the Queen's official tailor and orders her to work. Kazuko refuses, because she is against fast fashion that is subject to trends. Instead, she wishes to work on clothes that are actually cherished.
Queen Hedrian issues a decree that only she can wear clothes produced by her new tailor Kazuko. In response, Crab Monger goes around Tokyo, slicing up the clothes of women wearing Kazuko's clothes. VulEagle takes one of the afflicted women to Snack Safari, where the Arashiyamas deduce the plan. After hearing the woman lament her clothes that were actually family heirlooms, Yuki regrets her actions.
Yuki returns home, where Crab Monger is destroying more of Kazuko's clothes. Misa saves her, but Sun Vulcan is too late to confront him directly. Misa attempts to comfort Yuki as Sun Vulcan leaves.
Yuki reveals that she lied about her clothes being stolen out of her own selfishness, and has a newfound appreciation for her mother's homemade tailoring. Misa tells Yuki that the latter's father made the dress for her. Yuki puts on the dress and flees. Sun Vulcan determines that Crab Monger is after her homemade dress to destroy the last of Kazuko's clothing.
Commander Arashiyama decides to use Yuki and Misa as bait. Sun Vulcan successfully capture Crab Monger in an obstacle course. Crab Monger flees to a cave, and Sun Vulcan follow. Using Vulcan Eye, they discover that it is the sweatshop where Kazuko is imprisoned. Sun Vulcan break in under cover of colored fabrics, and beet up the Machinemen. Crab Monger tries to smoke them out with crab egg bombs, but VulEagle leads Kazuko out of the cave.
Out in daylight with Kazuko safe, the Solar Squadron confront Crab Monger again, posing on the cliffside. Amazon Killer commands Crab Monger to attack, and he authorizes his Crab Walker Corps of Machinemen who encircle the Squadron. The Crab Walkers literally walk all over them and leave them in the dust. The Sun Vulcan team use the ground against the Corps and successfully manage to turn the tide, exhausting them. Crab Monger fights the trio personally, and the fight is close, but Sun Vulcan eventually gain the upper hand and perform their finisher.
Crab Monger ascends to his Giant Monger form. The Squadron call in Jaguar Vulcan. Sun Vulcan Robo duels Crab Monger. His scissors cause serious damage, but the Robo is able to disarm him. The Robo then summons another sword and finishes him off with the Aurora Plasma Dual Slash.
Sun Vulcan reconvene with Misa and Kazuko as Yuki models the clothes her parents made for her. Kazuko fondly remembers her departed husband and Yuki promises to join the family trade. Asao Hyo leaves some comically oversized clothes for Kazuko to tailor him as the team leaves her business.
