Farewell, Signalman!! (さらば信号野郎!! Saraba Shingō Yarō!!) is the twenty-eighth episode of Gekisou Sentai Carranger. It is the conclusion of the two-part story involving an important decision for Signalman and the "Bowzock Festival" which will ultimately lead to the climax of the battle against Instructor Ritchihiker.
Synopsis[]
With Ichitarou captured for the ceremonial Bowzock Festival, Signalman and the Carranger scramble to get him back before he is used to grant them a greater evil power.
Plot[]
Signalman is riding down a highway still feeling down he can't go home to Sigtarou due to Ichitaro being abducted by the Bowzock and that he can't waste time and needs to save the "Earsh" boy.
On the Baribarian, Zelmoda completes tying up Ichitaro stating that they're now ready for the Bowzock Festival as Gynamo reveals that this year will be run by the Gorotsuki HH Wasshoishoi, their best festival maker. Gynamo places his trust in the Gorotsuki as HH Wasshoishoi states this year's Bowzock Festival will go throughout the solar systems and end with "Earsh" as the Wumpers pick up Ichitaro's mikoshi and carry it off as everyone celebrates. Ritchihiker stops Zonnette and asks about the Bowzock Festival, which she states is in the 'Bow-Dictionary' and tells him to look it up. As Ritchihiker investigates the Bowzock Dictionary, he discovers that once a year, in order to heal the mind and body, the Bowzock gather the evil energy of the universe into a "portable shrine" and ferment it instantly into a drink they devour together; making the instructor realize that Ichitaro is this year's shrine and will be used for the festival proceeding!
At the Carranger headquarters, the team worry about Ichitaro while discovering Dappu asleep again; they ask what's going on but he states he's taking a nap even with the current crisis; the alien states he's always sleepily lately. Yoko and Kyosuke return and reveal they haven't found the Tenma boy. His parents likewise search for their son through the city, the father looking in the strangest places believing that the Bowzock are capable of pulling anything to their son. Signalman approaches as Mr. Tenma pleads for him to find their son, shocking the officer as he realizes who he is and the similarity he has to Sigtarou; he states he commiserates having a son about the same age on planet Police; the mother claims he doesn't get it believing that if Ichitaro didn't hang around with an alien like Signalman, the Bowzock wouldn't have abducted him! The father stops his wife Miyoshi stating that she should see his expression showing he is also worried about Ichitaro, but the officer says he's alright as Miyoshi insults him for being an alien again.
Echoing through nearby forests, the Bowzock carry Ichitaro on the mikoshi as HH Wasshoishoi states they have finally arrived on "Earsh". In the Carranger headquarters, a drowsy Dappu wakes up from the Bowzock alert as the team put aside their work and decide to save Ichitaro no matter what as they all transform. At the Kobaan base, the Tenma parents are arguing about whose fault Ichitaro's abduction was and fighting one another as Signalman tries to stop it as Pegasus Thunder and Dragon Cruiser drive by; the Tenma knock themselves out as Signalman starts chasing them on the Policepeeder. The officer asks if they found Ichitaro as Yoko reveals there's a signal around Mt. Sunatori that the officer chases ahead to follow. At the festival site, HH Wasshoishoi states they're at the festival's highlight as they prepare to start as they notice the evil energies of the universe beginning to gather for their event, celebrating as they build up. The Carranger and Signalman arrive as the officer suggests the team arrive with flash to distract the Bowzock as he goes after Ichitaro. Kyosuke wonders how to be flashy as the team shoot their Auto Blasters at them and tell the team to "Make some noise" as they perform their roll call to Ichitaro's excitement. Gynamo complains that the Carranger weren't invited to their festival and Zelmoda instructs the gathered forces to attack, including the Wumpers, the Zokuranger and HH Wasshoishoi.
During the distraction, Signalman attempts to reach Ichitaro, but Ritchihiker rushes in to stop him, blasting him with his baton and laughing manically as the evil energy suddenly electrocutes him! As Ritchihiker falls down defeated, Gynamo shows shock that Ritchihiker took all their evil energy as the officer and the boy finally escape. Seeing Ichitaro holding his hand, Signalman continues to lament about how similar holding his hand is similar to Sigtarou as he embraces Ichitaro; Ichitaro states the officer is hurting him but Signalman states he was thinking of his son on Police as he shows the photo of him and his wife to Ichitaro, explaining the situation about how he was expected to participate in the Three-Legged Race with him, but that he can't go home due to his mission to fight the Bowzock and will fight defending the name of the Space Police, which Ichitaro agrees with as the two rush back to the front. However, they are confronted by HH Wasshoishoi for ruining the Bowzock Festival, commanding a squad of Wumpers to attack them in retribution! Signalman fights the minions before facing the Gorotsuki, punching him over and over as he tries to avoid his attacks. HH Wasshoishoi torpedoes into Signalman knocking him down as he sends out Signizer in Police Baton mode, flipping over an attack and slashing him down.
With no choice, HH Wasshoishoi eats some Imocho imo youkan and fires giant water balloon beams from his forehead before being knocked down by RV Robo, the two brawl but the mecha is hit over and over by the hand slaps and kicks. HH Wasshoishoi soon uses his festival art: Cotton Candy Attack, which covers RV Robo making it spin around and around as it gets covered in cotton candy strings! Seeing the mecha in danger, Signalman summons Sirender and enters combat mode; HH Wasshoishoi threatens to eat the RV Cotton Candy before Sirender knocks it away and slices the cotton candy threads away to free the other mecha. Sirender slashes at HH Wasshoishoi over and over and decides to finish him with the Siren Vulcan, blasting the Gorotsuki into oblivion.
On the ground, Ichitaro wakens his mother and father at Kobaan Base, who embrace their son for returning to them safely at the Pegasus worker's delight as they state everything is perfect. As he watches the parental love, Signalman once again recalls Sigtarou as he relents he has to fight the Bowzock on Earsh and can't go home to his son, asking for his forgiveness that his father can't help him in the three-legged race. Ichitaro approaches Signalman and tells him "goodbye", confusing the officer as he takes his hand and shakes it, the boy stating he has to go back to him. Signalman shows doubt but seems to become more affirmative. On the side, the Carranger decide to help send Signalman home; as Natsumi asks how, they decide to use the Car Navic to give to the Policepeeder to help him get there. Ichitaro's parents thank Signalman for saving their son as the team finish the adjustment, stating that even if he doesn't want to go home, his bike does as it suddenly comes to life; Signalman gets on as it drives away, shocking the officer as he can't get off. Kyosuke states that if he tries to force the Policepeeder to stop, it will be sad as Signalman decides to relent and says his farewell to Ichitaro and tells the Pegasus workers to give the Carranger his regards as he salutes and drives away back to his home at everyone's thanks. In space, Signalman states he hopes to see them all again in the future as he drives into the stars.
Back on the Baribarian, Ritchihiker is covered in bandages as Grotch wonders if he's alright as he convulses, Ritchihiker starts seeing visions of a strange mechanical creature as he rips the bandages off, shocking everyone as his appearance has changed with a now golden face! Ritchihiker announces he has an idea on how to defeat the Carranger; now he has basked in the evil energies of the universe, he will defeat the Carranger no matter what as he laughs manically.
