The Laughing Nostalgic Man!! (笑う懐かし男!! Warau Natsukashi Otoko!!) is the twenty-fourth episode of Chouriki Sentai Ohranger.
Synopsis[]
While visiting an older part of town where she grew up, Momo is approached by a strange Machine Beast who uses nostalgia as his weapon of choice.
Plot[]
By a waterfront, a man in an admiral outfit states this is the "old city of Tokyo" as he sees Momo riding by on a bike singing the Ohranger theme, making him realize it's OhPink and things are about to get interesting.
Momo soon arrives in the old section in a kimono, approached by the strange man who asks her name, calls her "girl" and reveals that she came home for her vacation, which she confirms and abandons him. Momo continues to wander around an old stand while seeing kids playing with tops and cards while introducing herself to the storekeeper, who remembers her and sits her down to talk with her after a long time. However she soon sees the strange man following, but tells the old woman to pay no mind while explaining she was there to see her as she treats her to a snow cone. She hears the sound of the "wooden clasps" of the old storyteller, who decides to present the tale of the Ohranger to them. The man states he is offering free mizuame sweets to them while presenting his tale; but the candy starts glowing as the man watches them.
Back with Momo, the old woman states she used to be a crybaby but now she's an Ohranger; Momo mentions the woman always saved her when she was teased. However, the duo are soon attacked by the kids who throw firecrackers and squirt gun water at them while knocking off the woman's glasses and praising Baranoia before running off! Momo watches over the woman as she wonders what's happening to them as OhPink chases them to find out what happened. The strange man appears again stating it's time to finish her off as Momo is confronted by him where he shows off a top before he states it's a "retro top" which he spins as it glows changing their surroundings to a retro style old city which he states she likes which is why he brought her here.
Asking who he is, the man states to Momo he is "Bara Kakka", showing off a badge revealing that he is "the greatest Machine Beast in the Baranoia Empire", thus his "Kakka" (Greatest) name and changing to his true form. Momo reports to the others but fails to when Bara Kakka states this is a pocket dimension where she can't contact her allies and that he came there to defeat Momo alone. Stating she loves old people and old downtown areas as well as children, which she confirms as Bara Kakka states that he will use her interest to defeat OhPink before drawing out a sword which she avoids and transforms. Momo tries to run but he states she can't leave so easily; she enters into an area where the policemen are mannequins, then a man throws a goldfish that turns into an exploding taiyaki, then blasted by a loud wind chime distracting her briefly for Bara Kakka to attack which she avoids. Momo uses the Flashing Miracle Chi Kung Shot to blast Bara Kakka to escape and report to the other Ohranger that she is being attacked and to meet her at the 3rd district of Yanagiya in Sumida Ward, confusing her teammates.
Soon hearing the claps of the storyteller, Momo overhears about how he states the kids can't go anywhere to play during their summer vacation and thus he'll give them mizuame sweets before revealing what his story is: "Chouriki Sentai Ohranger: The End of OhPink"; stating that she was hit by a shot by Bara Kakka and thrown into a pot. As the kids celebrate her loss, Momo reveals that the storyteller is Bara Kakka, which he states is true changing to his formal apparel and turning the children to charge her as they pull at her hair and attack her feet and neck! Bara Kakka states the children are his puppets and she states she won't forgive him and she will take him down. Bara Kakka soon uses the "Retro Menko" to send her into a black-and-white samurai movie where she has to fight samurai Tange Sazen before a man on horseback rides by that Momo states is Kurama Tengu, who starts shooting at her with a pistol and revealing he is Bara Kakka and all of his guises one after another and firing an eye-beam sending Momo back to reality and the old shop. Momo asks if the Ohranger had arrived and is pointed out they're here, but instead sees the actual old woman tied up as she's strangled by Bara Kakka in another disguise!
Bara Kakka soon puts up a sign announcing Momo's execution, deciding to use the method of Ishikawa Goemon being boiled alive to remove her due to her love of retro. The other Ohranger finally arrive at the sweet store but can't find her, only finding the old woman tied up as she states Momo in trouble. As she hangs beneath of pot of boiling water, Bara Kakka burns his finger before stating it feels great and apologizing to OhPink for doing this to her and prepares to cut the rope until the old sweet woman and the Ohranger arrives. Momo tells her to not approach but the old woman tells her she wants to say something to Bara Kakka, putting out the fire for the hot water and then pulling on his mustache! The woman tells him that he may have a magnificent beard and medals on his chest, but he has no heart. When Bara Kakka asks what that is, she explains it as kindness, as in the kind hearts people always had that makes one care for the elderly and children. She states Momo has it but he bullies OhPink and the children and that he claims to have kindness for the old days but that he may not due to his actions. Thinking it over, Bara Kakka claims he needs to nurture the kindness of the old days and appears to apologize as she tells the strange man to cut Momo down and let her go as she and the old woman embrace.
However before he can do anything further, Acha appears informing Bara Kakka that he has orders from Bacchus Wrath, fearing the Machine Beast as she's reminded that he has to defeat the Ohranger, making him transform once again and forcing Momo to hide the old woman as the Ohranger transform to face the Baranoia threat. The team eliminates the Barlo Soldiers at the woman's insistence before they fight Bara Kakka, having a hard time with his swordsmanship and his capturing chain before shooting the other Ohranger with his chest guns. Using his Star Riser, OhRed cuts the chain while OhPink uses the Hurricane Chouriki Defenser to pummel him prior to the team using the Giant Roller Shoot to finish him off. Acha and Kocha soon use the Enlargement Beam to grow Bara Kakka and the Ohranger use Ohranger Robo and Red Puncher to fight back, beating him down and then using Ohranger Robo's Moa Head and the Chouriki Moa Cannon before using Buster Ohranger Robo's Big Cannon Burst to finish him off as he says farewell to the retro feeling of the old days.
At the candy shop, the old woman and Momo feel happy about saving the children, Momo thanking her for assisting. Soon a story begins as the other Ohranger show off their own story to the children with Momo and the old woman joining in to watch.
