The Life Risked at 0.1 Second (コンマ1秒に賭けた命 Konma Ichibyō ni Kaketa Inochi) is the twenty-third episode of Choju Sentai Liveman. It is the beginning of a set of episodes involving the generals of Volt developing measures for a new super-weapon.
Synopsis[]
Colon tries to prove her worth to Yusuke against a swordsman Brain Beast using a new metal developed by Kemp.
Plot[]
On motorcycle patrol, Yusuke approaches a damsel in distress at the marina, who reveals herself to be... Colon. Yusuke rebukes her, telling her he has to focus on figuring out why aliens are joining Volt. He drives off, leaving her alone.
At Brain Base, Professor Bias has his five students doing experiments as "homework". Kemp finishes his portion, presenting the Gigazo Metal alloy to Professor Bias. Kemp and Butchy feud over aliens versus "humans". Kemp claims to be Bias's best student, but Bias tells all of the students to finish their respective homework experiments so the Giga Plan can proceed. Bias tells Kemp that he wants the applications of Gigazo Metal field-tested immediately.
Back on patrol, Yusuke is blinded by a glare of light. Doctor Kemp's Sword Brain leaps from the sky and slashes his motorcycle in half. Red Falcon transforms; however, the Gigazo Sword splits through the Falcon Sword, too. Red Falcon instead summons the Falcon Saber, which is resistant to the metal's strikes, but Red Falcon is a worse swordsman than Sword Brain.
Colon analyzes the material science of the Gigazo blade and gives Falcon strategic advice that ultimately just disorients him. Yusuke is detransformed into a river. Kemp gloats about the Giga Plan, but he admits he doesn't know what the Giga Plan is. He signals Sword Brain to execute Yusuke, but Yusuke down a waterfall and through a cave. Yusuke crawls out and curses his own cowardice. He tries to begin training his swordsmanship with a stick, but is tired. The other Livemen arrive. Yusuke explains what he knows about the Giga Plan - that the Gigazo Metal Sword is somehow involved. He knows that they don't have enough time to create a stronger sword, so they need to find a better technique instead.
Colon arrives, telling Yusuke that she has analyzed the battle and discovered that Red Falcon only lost because of Sword Brain's speed - Yusuke needs to move 0.1 seconds faster to win. However, Yusuke has difficulty finding the meaning of this number. He rudely tells Colon that battles are won with experience, not numbers, and returns to training. Colon runs off into the woods. Megumi follows and apologizes on Yusuke's behalf. Kemp suddenly attacks with his own Gigazo Metal Sword. He takes Megumi hostage and tells Colon to let Red Falcon know.
Red Falcon rises to the challenge, meeting Beauty Beast Kemp on a mountain overlooking the sea. Red Falcon's suit is still battle-damaged. Megumi has been bound and gagged. Red Falcon attempts to duel Sword Brain again. Colon and Jou arrive and watch. Colon believes both Megumi and Yusuke will die, and so she hops underwater to traverse the river to reach them and intervene. Jou undresses and follows.
Red Falcon attempts to use the Live Blaster instead of a sword, but Sword Brain parries and de-transforms him once again. Beauty Beast approaches from behind, leaving him wedged between two swordsmen. As Beauty Beast Kemp prepares his executioner's strike, Colon jumps and takes the hit across her tank-top-like-armor instead. Yusuke holds Colon and tells her he taught her an important lesson - fight and risk your whole body. He tells her he believes he can move 0.1 seconds faster now. Colon falls asleep and Red Falcon transforms again. Red Falcon and Sword Brain jump at each other, trading sword strikes. Megumi sheds tears. Sword Brain collapses.
Jou arrives and frees Megumi. They transform and charge Beauty Beast Kemp, knocking him back and out of the fight. The Livemen use the Biomotion Buster to destroy Sword Brain. Gash rejuvenates and enlarges him with the Giga Phantom.
Red Falcon calls in the Machine Buffalo from the clouds, which lands and summons the Live Machines. The Live Machines combine into LiveRobo. The two giants sword fight again, with LiveRobo ending victorious after a sliding Super Live Crash.
Later, Jou and Megumi rush a healed Colon down to the marina, where Yusuke is awaiting. He asks her to accompany him on his motorbike on patrol as a date.

- In previous episodes, it was assumed that Red Falcon called Colon to launch Machine Buffalo from Gran Tortoise. However, in this episode, Machine Buffalo is launched while Colon is damaged and seemingly unconscious.
